Hi Everyone
I'm having issues with Google Voice Recognition. If I have headphones plugged in and I toggle voice recognition from the soft keyboard (the little mic icon) the media player I have running in the background cuts out. It stays out even after voice recognition has finished listening.
If I toggle voice recognition into listening mode again, the media audio cuts back in until voice recognition stops listening, then it cuts back out. Even apps like Utter! cause this same exact behavior. It seems to be when one of these apps forces the audio to focus on something else. This issue doesn't happen at all if I *don't* have anything plugged into the headphone jack. It works like normal in those cases.
Restarting the media player doesn't fix it. The only ways to fix it are to totally restart the phone, or unplug the headphones, toggle voice recognition, wait for it to stop listening, then plug the headphones back in. Then it all works correctly until the next time voice recognition is toggled. Then the problem happens all over again.
I'm running Beanstalk 4.3 RC1.1 + W03Tweaks v1.6.1 with uneak kernel 2.22. I've tried switching to a different kernel (devil) but I get the same results. I've noticed this problem on both 4.2 and 4.3 rom's for me (Both Beanstalk, haven't tested other roms).
It's driving me crazy since I can't use voice recognition when I'm driving without causing my music to stop. I made a video of what it's doing, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFm-Hk0TADw.

Hello all!
I hope that this is the right spot for this in the forums, I have a VERY frustrating problem since I updated to JB on my Sprint Samsung Galaxy SIII. I tried to put it on the main Galaxy SIII page but no responses. Sorry for the double post.
Let's say I reboot my phone and get into the car. I can push the little microphone and dictate all of my text messages, use Google now and life is good. BUT if I were to then listen to Google Music Player, or an audiobook through the speakers in my car, I no longer have access of the Google voice recognition. I try to dictate a message but I don't see the OK TO TALK prompt. I can't use Google now because it gets stuck in Recognizing..I can't use any of the voice features of my phone.
BUT, if I turn off the Bluetooth, I can use the voice recognition features. Turn it on and they can't be used. If I uncheck the bluetooth audio media option, all works great, but as soon as I check it, The voice recognition features no longer work. Rebooting solves the problem, until I listen to Google Music Player
This is very frustrating because sometimes I do have to dictate my text messages while driving. I can't do this, or use Google Now while I am in my car. I really think it is the Bluetooth Media Audio, but I am unsure how to correct this.
Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks
Mike
Trying to listen to music at my desk, through my speakers (I can only imagine the same happens with headphones), but every time I navigate in any way from the home screen, the audio mutes. This even happens while using a music app - it plays, but no audio till home screen.
Starting to think this is not ROM related but rather 4.X related, as this has happened to me on multiple ROMs. Just installed Liquid Smooth 4.4.4, same result.
Ideas?
TIA

Hello All,
Quick problem and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or has a fix for it.
Basically, I play my music and vids through my car stereo via a bluetooth receiver. It works fine for the most part. However, if I try to wake the phone up while listening to music, the audio will stop playing. The track I'm listening too will still be playing in the app, but there is no audio being output. Once I put my lockscreen passcode in the audio resumes. I've tried with all of the lockscreens,, including no password/pin, fingerprint, etc.
Also potentially related, my phone plays a short alert beep whenever I unlock my phone. This happens whether or not the mute is on, or if I have the lockscreen sound option turned off.
I've tried disconnecting my bluetooth devices, rebooting the phone, checking every single option in the menu and cannot find a solution. Any help or advice you all can offer is greatly appreciated! It's not big deal to put my lockscreen password in, but this is potentially dangerous while driving, and quite frankly, I hate having my groove interrupted
Thanks!

Hey Guys,
everytime i connect my fire phone (slim kat) to a bluetooth speaker, i dont get any sound out of it.
What i tried so far:
-used multiple bluetooth devices (car; mobile speaker; tv sound bar) with no success. Everyone showed the same problem.
- removed all devices from the pairing list
- visible to all devices
- wiped cache
- tried spotify and poweramp
-moved from cm11 to slim kat: the problem was solved for like 15 min. The sound then suddenly stopped without me touching the display (no sound then, but the music player continued to play)
Any ideas? I uploaded a video showing the problem. all i get from the speaker is a silent buzz, which i tried to capture in the video at 01:20.
Also notice the weird volume button at 00:57...it switches from the normal audio speaker to the bluethooth speaker every time i change the volume.

I hope someone can help me.
I had a similar problem on stock, turned out to be my wearables apps. Microsoft Health and Pebble time, kept disconnecting me from everything else. May be completely unrelated, but worth a try. I uninstalled those apps and it started working fine.
Thanks for reply, but i dont have any wearable apps installed on the phone
Cmon guys, please help me. I know a lot of you guys are really into this topic...
So not sure what exactly is the cause but one thing that sometimes will cause all audio to stop working is Google play music. Sometimes when I start playing music (device speakers, not Bluetooth or casted), the audio will stop working in a few seconds as if all volumes have been turned down but they're not. Music playback is still going. Verified that when this happens no other audio works as well.
In some cases the volume slider does nothing when adjusting (slider can be moved but no change in actual volume output level) and playback is still going and then audio is lost.
Playback control buttons in play music become unresponsive and eventual play music not responding message comes up. Closing app doesn't fix and still no audio in other apps or system. Restarting phone doesn't help either really. Only workaround I have found is to cast to Google home, play for a few seconds on there (which does work) and then disconnect and audio on device is functional again. Sometimes cast workaround works without reboot, otherwise the reboot is necessary.
Anyone dealing with this too? Things I should look into for suspect causes? Any help greatly appreciated.
Edit: now when audio stops on device, things become a bit more unresponsive throughout device and eventually the device restarts on own without the play music not responding message. Power off and restart options via power menu are unresponsive at this time too.

Hi Jason, I have the same issue. When I play music, the upper speaker stops emmiting audio and the lower one suddenly lowers its volume (but the audio is at full volume in the UI). the problem is that is random and also affect the phone app. so if this happen and someone call me I cant hear it.
do you resolve it?
let me know,
thanks

I tested in safe mode and verified it was not a hardware fault. I suspected it was something that happened when I was using substratum and applied a theme to Google play music. Factory reset was my only way to resolve.
Same issue here with my Pixel 2. I notice this behaviour after using a Bluetooth speaker, and disconnect from it. Sometime i lost Speaker and Microphone access to the phone. If i connect back to a bluetooth device, audio/mic in the bluetooth device work's fine.
I i reboot the phone, i regain access to speaker and MIC... until the next time i use a bluetooth speaker. I didn't notice this behaviour until last week. I have this pixel 2 phone for 2 month now.
