Hello All,
Quick problem and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or has a fix for it.
Basically, I play my music and vids through my car stereo via a bluetooth receiver. It works fine for the most part. However, if I try to wake the phone up while listening to music, the audio will stop playing. The track I'm listening too will still be playing in the app, but there is no audio being output. Once I put my lockscreen passcode in the audio resumes. I've tried with all of the lockscreens,, including no password/pin, fingerprint, etc.
Also potentially related, my phone plays a short alert beep whenever I unlock my phone. This happens whether or not the mute is on, or if I have the lockscreen sound option turned off.
I've tried disconnecting my bluetooth devices, rebooting the phone, checking every single option in the menu and cannot find a solution. Any help or advice you all can offer is greatly appreciated! It's not big deal to put my lockscreen password in, but this is potentially dangerous while driving, and quite frankly, I hate having my groove interrupted
Thanks!

Hello everyone.
I was hoping I could get some guidance as to what to do about a problem I'm having with streaming audio over bluetooth.
I have my Incredible with the (latest?) radio version 2.15.00.07.28, running CyanogenMod 6.00-R3.
The problem I'm experiencing goes like this:
I have an audio track (I've tried many).
I can play the track normally through the phone speaker or headphones using the default music player, MixZing, or any other music application.
Then I connect to my Motorola T505 Bluetooth car adapter.
Upon starting the track, it will only play about one second of the track at a time, before pausing for about a second. The track timer pauses as well. It feels like lag of some sort, as if the application is slowing down because of the bluetooth connection.
If I disconnect from the T505, it resumes normally.
Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? I've searched but have yet to find anyone with a similar problem.
If there is any further information you need, let me know.
Thanks for your help!
This may not apply to you on CM6, but on my stock Dinc turning wifi off fixed the BT stuttering.
I recently discovered what a treat it is to play audiobooks while I drive.
And allegedly, my G2 and Acura TL Bluetooth Audio (2011 Acura TL w/ Tech package) makes that a snap, right?
Well, here's my experience.
1. I turn on my Android phone's Bluetooth (T-Mobile G2) and get in the car. The car immediately recognizes the phone. Great!
2. As soon as I switch the car's radio/audio button over to Bluetooth audio, my phone instantly pulls up an MP3 player and begins playing a song.
3. But I don't want a song! In fact, there seems to be nothing I can do to stop my Acura from ordering my Android to play something every single time I switch the radio to Bluetooth audio. Or is the phone itself that wants to automatically play something? Who knows. It's annoying. I thought maybe the problem was an app, because it was always DoubleTwist that would automatically start playing. So I deleted DoubleTwist. Now it's WinAmp that starts playing. So it must be something about the phone interacting with the car. For whatever reason, I now have to dial the Acura Bluetooth menu over to Pause/Resume to stop it.
4. Finally--after all that--I can pull up my audiobook player and start to listen via Bluetooth audio. Bliss.
5. Oops, there's my phone ringing, which my Acura Bluetooth phone function quickly answers. It's my wife.
Wife: "Hi, I just wanted to see if you're driving your car."
Me: "Why, yes. Yes, I am driving my car. Thanks so much for asking."
Wife: "OK, goodbye!"
Me: "Goodbye. Thanks so much for calling."
6. When the phone hangs up, ALL Bluetooth audio ceases. I think the connection remains, because any player app I have will show the seconds ticking off if you ask it play something, but you can't hear anything, neither on the phone speaker nor on the car audio. It's as if the phone is transmitting it to the car but the car has its Bluetooth audio turned completely down? Who knows? But it's a bummer.
7. No button-pushing on the car seems to fix things, so I turn the Bluetooth radio on my phone off, then on.
8. Now, we're all reset. Whoops! There's that annoying song again. Got to turn that off. Then back to the audiobook player. Then back to the book.
9. Five more minutes of bliss until the next call.
10. I dunno. Shouldn't this be easier? Hopefully, I've pulled off the road several times while all this was going on. If I try to deal with it while I'm driving I'm certain to wrap my car around a telephone pole, which is embarrasing no matter who you are.
I'll probably have to cross-post this to both the Acura genius's board and the G2 genius's board since I'm not sure where the issue lies. Let me know if you have any clues.
Thank you!
Okay! I got a little schooled by the Acura guys. I really shouldn't consider it a bug that something starts playing on my phone when I click the car radio dial to Bluetooth Audio. That would be like expecting the FM receiver to stay silent until I've selected a channel. As soon as I select Bluetooth Audio, it sends out the Bluetooth Play command and away my G2 goes. Not a bug. Feature. Got it.
Here's the part where I need Android geniuses to weigh in.
I use the Ambling Bookplayer app. For some reason, even if Ambling is already playing when I select Bluetooth Audio on my radio, my phone will still launch a standard media player (such as DoubleTwist or WinAmp) and begin playing a music .MP3.
At that point then, I have both the audiobook .MP3 and the music .MP3 playing through my car's Bluetooth Audio.
What is behind that behavior?
The only thing I can think of that might be a clue is I've noticed that the same media player always launches despite the fact that I have several on my phone.
For example, it was always DoubleTwist. I deleted that app while troubleshooting this problem and now it's always WinAmp. I wonder if there's some kind of hierarchy in determining which player responds to the car's "Bluetooth Play" command? If I had a music .MP3 playing on the stock music player, would the car still launch WinAmp?
And if there's a way to determine who goes first, can I figure out how to make it the Ambling player?
Anyone who has some insight into the relationship between Bluetooth and Android or G2 media players, I'd certainly appreciate some input.
Thank you!
Closer...
So it occurred to me that since my car is always asking for the same player, there may be a "default player" setting somewhere I can change. Perhaps it's the "default .MP3 player"? I discover that the audiobook player I've been using isn't even listed in the menu of available media apps that appears when you click an .MP3 file.
So I downloaded about every audiobook player app and it turns only ONE of them does (MortPlayer Audiobook).
So I click the box to make this the default player whenever an .MP3 file is selected. Maybe that'll work.
I go back to the car and select Bluetooth Audio. Nuts. WinAmp again.
So that suggest to me that the default player setting I'm looking for is a Bluetooth default media player? Is that the answer I've been looking for? Is there such a setting? If so, how do I change that?
I've worked through most of the problems above, but I'm bumping this because of one unresolved question:
Doesn't anyone here know exactly how the G2 responds when it receives a "bluetooth play" command?
That is, why does it select the player it selects and is that something we can modify?
Thanks for all enlightenment!
Hey everyone!
I've began using my car's Bluetooth to stream music as oppose to the usual auxiliary cable. One big issue I've notice is that Pandora won't pause the music after the BT gets disconnected. The audio just gets redirected back into the phone's speaker... I thought Pandora would pause the music like it normally does when you unplug your headphones... I tried using tasker to perform a "kill" app command when BT gets disconnected, but that doesn't work. I even tried doing a Media Pause when BT gets disconnected, but that didn't work either... Kinda stumped on what else to try.
Does anyone know a work around for this besides pressing pause before turning off the car?
If anyone knows some method to doing this please let me know. Thanks!!!
This seems to have been broken in Pandora starting at least with version 1.5.13. I found version 1.5.12 in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202144
and it works well, pauses about 5 seconds after bluetooth disconnect so you still get a little bit of that annoyance, but it is tolerable. This version doesn't always show the album art (not sure what is up with that,) but that doesn't bother me.
i've seen quite a few bluetooth issues on here, but none quite describe my issue with the note thus far. i've found that when watching a tv show or listening to music and you have the media paused for a certain amount of time, pressing play causes an immediate bluetooth disconnect AND the bluetooth doesn't function until a device restart.
for e.g.
streaming a tv show and pausing it to let it load
upon pressing the play button the bluetooth disconnects from headset and then turns off.
any attempt to turn back on the bluetooth will result in it saying "turning on bluetooth" then automatically turning back off.
this will then persist with the bluetooth never turning on again until after a device reset.
has anyone experienced anything similar? it's quite annoying when you can't pause anything because it literally breaks your bluetooth.
No my bluetooth has been brilliant.
I have had stuff on pause for ages and it still works perfectly whenever i decide to play the video again. Couldnt guess what the problem is here as it could be your bluetooth headphones decide to timeout or if your Notes bluetooth is acting up or even they just dont like eachother....tbh my post hast helped at all just confused things....sorry :/
Sent from Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition via Tapatalk.
i thought at first it was maybe the headphones but i've tried different pairs, and they work flawlessly with my cell. i also thought timeout was an issue since i read that in another bluetooth post here on xda so i increased the bluetooth timeout to never, but that did nothing to help.
i did find somewhat of a temporary solution though:
if i go to settings > all apps and i clear the cache, clear data and force stop everything with the word bluetooth in it, the functionality returns. but you lose the entire buffer of your video
So not sure what exactly is the cause but one thing that sometimes will cause all audio to stop working is Google play music. Sometimes when I start playing music (device speakers, not Bluetooth or casted), the audio will stop working in a few seconds as if all volumes have been turned down but they're not. Music playback is still going. Verified that when this happens no other audio works as well.
In some cases the volume slider does nothing when adjusting (slider can be moved but no change in actual volume output level) and playback is still going and then audio is lost.
Playback control buttons in play music become unresponsive and eventual play music not responding message comes up. Closing app doesn't fix and still no audio in other apps or system. Restarting phone doesn't help either really. Only workaround I have found is to cast to Google home, play for a few seconds on there (which does work) and then disconnect and audio on device is functional again. Sometimes cast workaround works without reboot, otherwise the reboot is necessary.
Anyone dealing with this too? Things I should look into for suspect causes? Any help greatly appreciated.
Edit: now when audio stops on device, things become a bit more unresponsive throughout device and eventually the device restarts on own without the play music not responding message. Power off and restart options via power menu are unresponsive at this time too.

Hi Jason, I have the same issue. When I play music, the upper speaker stops emmiting audio and the lower one suddenly lowers its volume (but the audio is at full volume in the UI). the problem is that is random and also affect the phone app. so if this happen and someone call me I cant hear it.
do you resolve it?
let me know,
thanks

I tested in safe mode and verified it was not a hardware fault. I suspected it was something that happened when I was using substratum and applied a theme to Google play music. Factory reset was my only way to resolve.
Same issue here with my Pixel 2. I notice this behaviour after using a Bluetooth speaker, and disconnect from it. Sometime i lost Speaker and Microphone access to the phone. If i connect back to a bluetooth device, audio/mic in the bluetooth device work's fine.
I i reboot the phone, i regain access to speaker and MIC... until the next time i use a bluetooth speaker. I didn't notice this behaviour until last week. I have this pixel 2 phone for 2 month now.
