I have a 64gb Sandisk micro external sd card, and it appears to be having problems. currently, i can't add or delete anything from it. when i put the card in my brothers phone to reformat it. (because the option didn't come up in my galaxy s3) his galaxy s2 let it reformat it, then after remounting it was in the exact same state, still at 42.2gb free, if i delete files manually upon reboot they are all there.
so for all intensive purposes the sd card appears to be locked.
i can't format it with my computer, no expansion slot for one and i don't get the option when i right click it.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated it. I don't know if its corrupted although that's where my belief is heading.

I managed to get CyanogenMod 7 RC2 up and running. I noticed that I had a lot of junk on my SD card so I thought that I could back it up and then wipe it because most/all of the useful stuff was on the internal memory of the DHD. But, for some reason, my phone is telling me that my SD card is damaged.
I don't think that there is anything wrong with the SD card because I just did a copy/paste thing to back it up. Also, I've put in another SD card and it also says that it's damaged. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Run fix_permissions and reboot

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think I can do that. I can't put that on my SD card because there if I try to connect it with the computer, I can't mount the SD card or turn on the usb sharing thing. I'll be able to reformat the SD card soon because I'm borrowing a friend's micro sd card to sd card converter.
I tried Fix Permissions by going into recovery and advanced options, but that didn't work =/
Also, I remember now that I uninstalled "Goldcard Helper" because it said it was downloaded to my SD card so I thought that I could uninstall it and be able to clean up my SD card completely. Maybe that had some effect on this?
Got my friend's converter so now I can plug the micro SD directly into my computer. Oddly enough, it said I had to format it before I could use it which is essentially what my phone was telling me to do too.
I'll wipe it then see if it works
Perfect! I think it is working completely now! One last question of what I should do now that it's working. Can I plug it in, restore a few pictures I had, and just let Android take over from there? It's completely blank on the SD card so will Android know what to do with it?
im currently running cm7.
i have an htc EVo.
i was backing up my data on this 4GB to move it on a 8gb micro sd card. i deleted everything on it and ejected it. i put the 8gb in and suddenly it did not work any more. neither did the 4gb mico sd card. my phone says that the micro sd cards are damaged. i have several other cards that wont read. idk why... i tried plugging the micro sd cards up to the computer and the computer wont recognize them. it tells me i have to format but the format always fails. i there a fix for this? im starting to think that cm7 is damaging my sd cards. i have important things on their to me and i would love to recover them.
THANKS IN ADVANCE
*UPDATE*
the 4gb i currently have will work in my old phone. it is a samsung highnote. but when i put it back in my htc evo it still says that it is damaged. i rebooted in clock work mod and it read this time. i was able to mount the 4gb sd card in usb storage from CWM(Clock Work MOd).
Try formating it on your pc

Hey,
Yeah sometimes that happened, now do other micro sd cards work in it?
What I would do is put the card in your computer I prefer linux but you can do what you want, or even your phone if it will mount it in recovery then just do a full sd card wipe and that should get everything working for you! If you still can't get it to work PM me and we will figure it out!
If I helped hit the thanks please and thank you!
The SD Formatter program from the SD association can nearly always format a card when nothing else can. Now, the data on there may not be recoverable though. I learned that the hard way too a while back.

It couldnt reformat my partitioned sd card though! but besides that that program works great!
I have had similar issues. My SD card was working amazingly well until I rebooted my phone to show someone my splash screen I had installed a few days prior. When it booted up it said the SD card was damaged. I'm not sure why....but sure enough it was toast. I couldn't even mount the card in order to see the files on my computer. Thankfully my motherboard was able to see that the card was there, just inaccessible, so I was able to run File Scavenger and get all of my files off. After that I reformatted my SD Card and went about my business.
So i have a sandisk 32gb micro sd card im using in my galaxy s3. It has been working fine until this morning when my phone started saying sd card had been removed please enter a new one, or something like that. The sd card cannot be seen in TWRP or in any file manager. In recovery i tried to wipe the external card and it just says it cant mount the external card.
I would have thought this was a problem with my phone, but I also cannot see the card when i put it in my computer. Other sd cards work fine on my computer (i dont have another micro sd to test with) but my camera's sd card worked fine. Anyone have a solution? I would be willing to format my sd card, but i cant even access it anywhere.

I hate to say it, but it would seem that your SD card went tango uniform. If another card is being seen in the S III then it is down to that.

In Win7, plug your SDcard into the card reader.
Type diskmgmt.msc into search or run.
Do you see your messed up SDcard in there?
If yes, you can format it, name it etc.
If that fails, find an app online called Gparted. (needs to burn to a CD)
This app works at boot and has fixed my most stubborn drive issues.
Hi this is my first time posting a question on here so I'm hoping I'm doing this correctly
I recently received a SanDisk Ultra 64GB MicroSDHC card to use in my AT&T Note II phone. When I inserted the external SD card into my phone, everything mounted correctly and functioned right. However, when I tried to transfer my pictures and music into to the external SD card from my internal SD card using the stock app My Files, it would say that everything moved to my external SD card, but when I checked it, nothing was in the external SD card and the files that i had moved from my internal SD card were gone. So I backed up all my files from the internal SD card to my laptop to make sure I don't lose files again.
Afterwards I tried all of these methods to get files to properly into the external SD card:
I tried connected the external SD card directly to my laptop using an adapter and moved the files there
I tried moving files to the external SD card while it was in my phone
I also tried using KIES and KIES Air to move files into my external SD card
The first two methods didn't even have files show in the external SD card. The third method, using KIES and KIES air had files in the external SD card but they were corrupted where I can open my picture and it's a icon of a man of some kind and my music files just wouldn't play.
So I just factor reset my phone hoping that this would fix this problem and I haven't tried moving files yet. I'm hoping that perhaps it was an app that was conflicting with the external SD card.
I know that my external SD card is not fake because it came in a legitimate package and I also ran a software (that I can't remember the name of) that puts in data in the external SD card until it fills up and reads the data to see how much actually went in.
Could anybody tell me what the problem is and how I can fix it? I can't go back to the store and exchange it because it was a gift and there's no receipt. Thank you so much for your help.

well seee if it works on other phone if not then sent it back to sandisk service center they dont need any proof of purchase just the sd card packet pic will do as proof as it comes with lifetime warranty , just sent them a mail and report if its faulty and they will ask u to send the sd card back to sandisk center and they will send u a new sd card :good:
if they ask for a sd card no just chk your sd card back it written over there and not on the package as the org number they need is available in sd card back

I bought a G7 Play during Thanksgiving sales at Wal-Mart. It's been running fine until today, when I rebooted.
It's stock. I haven't unlocked the bootloader or rooted it.
I have a 64 GB PNY Elite SD card configured to be portable storage.
Today, when I rebooted, I got a notification "SD card issue. Tap to fix." When I tapped, it wanted to know whether I wanted to use the SD card as adoptable or portable storage, and wanted me to reformat the card regardless of which option I chose.
I turned the phone off and removed the SD card, replacing it with a 2 GB Samsung card. That one functions as expected.
Has anyone else seen this behavior, and is there anything to be done to fix it, or should I just contact Lenovo?
Thanks!
Try using another phone with this SD Card. If it works then your phone is having incompatibility with the card. Didn't work? Your SD Card data has probably got corrupted. If you can plug it on computer with an adapter check if it shows RAW in disk management. If it does try formatting with windows usual format procedure. If that shows an error your last resort would be using diskpart. use list disk, then select the disk which is your sd card, then type clean, then create partition primary, then format. That didn't work too? Then it's a hardware issue and what you got there is part of e-waste now.
