Phone not mounting

After flashing Emerald Envy my phone does not mount anymore, and yes i uninstalled and reistalled drivers again, changed the port location, everything. Anybody?

Bad USB cable maybe? My stock USB cable will charge just fine but if I use it to try and mount my phone nothing shows up anymore.

Does your phone make the connection noise on the computer? If so go to control panel>system> device manager find Samsung Android as either Other or in USB and click it and hit update drivers and wait while Windows finds the 5 drivers it needs. I have 2 phones, all of a sudden one could connect and one wouldn't. Updated the drivers and now one shows up as F and the other as E..go figure.

Turn on usb debugging if it's off. Turn off usb debugging if its on.

I tried all of this and still nothing guys anything else?

Windows Update wouldn't get any of the drivers for me (Windows 7 Ultimate, SP1) so I had to install the ones that came with one of the OneClickRoot zips.

It only said, your device is already updated to the latest drivers.

Step-By-Step: Get USB 3 Ports Working on Win 8 (For Issues With ADB/Fastboot and RR)

You need to install Win7's USB drivers on Win8 in order to get ADB/Fastboot working on Win 8. I drove myself mad until some kind soul here (can't remember who) provided the following link. Hope this helps some of you exasperated with getting RumRunner working.

be warned, I have tried this 3 times already, and at some point throughout, on EVERY try, my computer would just STOP recognizing my USB devices, and I would have to use a recovery image on my computer because i couldnt log in to my desktop.
YMMV, but it didnt work at all for me

I made this guide. What I had to do was edit some Windows8 settings and install the drivers manually to get them to work.

This worked beautifully for me on Windows 8.1 RTM x64, thanks much.

I tried all this and still couldn't use Fastboot. My fix was in BIOS. I disabled xHCI mode in USB under advanced tab and everything is fine.

Just wanted to let you guys know I got it working by installing pdanet. It installed it's drivers and everything worked after that.

My laptop has 2 USB 3 ports and 1 USB 2 port. fastboot/adb doesn't work on the 3s. I always use the 2 port and it works perfectly fine.

Guys the problems with windows 8 and windows 8.1 are normally the usb 3.0 drivers. Intel have not posted windows 8 drivers for series 7 and series 8. You need to modify the windows 7 drivers with other inf files. I have done the job for you so you can manually install the drivers.

I wasn't aware HTC released 8.1 drivers. I will give these a try. Thanks!

I just made a usb stick carrying win7 to boot off of on my girl's win8.1 laptop. Works wonderfully, the only issue i had when using this guide was i had to manually set the boot sector after finishing running the application.

I'm on a fresh install of Windows 8.1
Here's what I did.
1. Installed HTC Sync Manager
2. Installed Minimal ADB and Fastboot
3. ADB works fine, boot into bootloader.
4. Windows shows Unknown USB Device (Device Failed Enumeration) in Device Manager
Running fastboot devices returns nothing
I can connect my phone to view files, I can ADB on my phone, the only thing I cannot do is fastboot. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

I just experienced the exact same issue following the same steps on my laptop also running 8.1

Fastboot doesn't work w 8.1. No workaround. You need another OS.

Uh no. I have it working perfectly fine on my Surface Pro. It has both USB 3.0 and Windows 8.1. I'm not sure exactly how I got it to work but its possible.

From all of my research, you're the first person I've heard of having it working. Any specific drivers used? I'm very curious (currently, I have to use a backup machine to push TWRP updates to my VZW One)

Same thing here. 8.1 broke fastboot. Is this a Microsoft problem specifically because if it is I seriously doubt they will be in a hurry to patch it.

I have found out something based on the VMware experience. Can somebody try it out and report back???
I feel that the fastboot problem in windows 8.1 is related to the USB port.
For those people that having problem, are you guys using USB 2.0??? If yes do you have USB 3.0 port in your computer??? The real problem maybe is that fastboot only works with USB 3.0 but not USB 2.0 in windows 8.1...

I tried both USB types, and half a dozen drivers and workarounds, and nothing.
I don't believe the dude above got it working. He is probably thinking Win 8, not 8.1. I have it working on 8.

Flash Image GUI will probably do everything you need to do in fastboot without the need for a computer. I just threw 8.1 on one of my extra PC's, I'll see if I can get the drivers going. I feel like this was answered in another thread though, I think it is in the rumrunner thread...

fastboot was working on windows 8 and adb !!!
so the update win 8.1 have change sometihng but the question is what
and i try different drivers (from google,intelandroiddrv) and noting work

For anyone interested, due to something DreamerTKM said - I tried both USB 2 & USB 3 sockets on my Dell L701X laptop and both failed:
ERROR: Unknown USB Device (Device Failed Enumeration)
I did a clean install of Win 8.1 Pro and it still failed...
Anyway, I was using Windows 8.1 Pro default drivers for my system when this issue came up last week - default as in Microsoft's own out of the box drivers (drivers on the install DVD and Windows Updates) for my CPU chipset, USB chipset, etc... - my entire system (except for my nVidia graphic card!)
My laptop is now a few years old and my official "Dell" CPU chipset drivers are not compatible with Win 8.1, so I need to rely on Microsoft for these, but my USB 3 originally had Dell supplied "Renesas USB 3" drivers which I hadn't installed or even thought about installing as my USB 3 socket worked - and worked well...
...anyway, after installing the original Renesas USB 3 drivers the fastboot commands work once plugged into a USB 3 socket! USB 2 still wouldn't work though, but now my Win 8.1 laptop can do fastboot commands through a USB 3 socket.
I understand not everyone will have a Dell L701X laptop but the moral here is before blaming Microsoft and their Windows 8.1 O/S (which is truly awesome), try installing the correct drivers first!

guyz if u r working on win8.1 just plug it in ur usb 3.0 then it will wrk...if u put in usb 2.0 it wont!

No changes. I have read a few topics that it barely works with Win 8.1, so I will have to try it somewhere esle with Windows 7, then I'll be coming back to tell what's up.

Full fastboot and ADB support is available in windows 8.

I have been using fastboot and adb with no problems on Windows 8.1 since January. But the issue is much more than simply using a different USB port. Here is the tutorial I used. http://www.droid-now.com/2013/10/fix-working-fastboot-drivers-windows-8-1-x64/ Certain security features of 8.1 need to be bypassed to install the modified drivers. Also see this guide: http://forums.team-nocturnal.com/index.php/topic/1362-how-to-adb-fastboot-in-windows-xp-7-81/ I used this just for ADB, but it looks like he's updated his guide for fastboot as well. Hope this information helps.

Device Failed Enumeration?

I recently wiped my Windows 7 HDD, and installed Windows 8.1. Wanting to flash another kernel, I installed the SDK, JDK, and Flashtool drivers. Booting my XPlay into fastboot, Windows said that the USB device was not installed properly, and I looked into the Device Manager, and it said "Device Failed Enumeration".
Is there any fix for this?

Well I'd say to just put win7 into a virtual machine because alot of the drivers fail because of win8 incompatibility so try that

I was trying to avoid installing/using a virtual machine with Windows 7 or Linux. But I know those options will work, however, I'm trying to use it within my current setup. I have already disabled the Driver Verification thing.

well if your PC CPU does not support vt-x like mine then install LXDE on a virtual drive and run it....you may even be able to run linux off a usb and do it from there....sony and microsoft are having issues and so sony software does not work on 8 here is a form about it http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-hardware/win-81-does-not-support-sony-pc-companion-as-well/62fdf4ee-1421-4e49-85ae-c2ee8a5dc6ec

Followed a few guides , erased drivers , reinstalled , even at one point tried reinstalling windows , different USB port, different cable . now I am no means a novice , but is there something simple I'm missing ? perhaps uncheck mtp and select camera and turn off debugging ? boot into recovery while connected ? that installs a driver also. have you installed a "naked driver " ?

Need more info about your problem. what happens when you type adb devices?

If I'm not mistaken there were a few people that had the same issue and it turned out to be a bug when trying to use a USB 3.0 port on their computers. If you are using a USB 3.0 port for your cable you might wanna try plugging it into a USB 2.0. FYI I could be remembering completely wrong

I did everything but an engineering hboot with USB 2.0 port on an Intel x79 chipset motherboard on Windows 8.1.

I had this problem too but got around it. I had no problem getting the device detected in Fastboot mode, but ADB was a problem. What I did was download and begin installation of the latest HTC sync manager with the phone already connected. It seems the first thing it does is install updated drivers then asks if you want to continue with the installation. I didn't want to install sync manager, so I cancelled the install. However the drivers remained. After a reboot I checked Device manager and sure enough Android 1.0 device was there with working drivers.
Checked the device was recognised with the ADB command ADB DEVICES, but showed no device connected. I then unplugged the USB cable and plugged in to another USB 2.0 port and voila device gets deteced by ADB.
I also had to use this version of ADB http://www.mediafire.com/download/e5mieo2vxjd71ws/android-tools.zip and it had to be the original HTC USB cable and USB debugging enabled in Developer options.
Now for some reason I have to swap USB ports each time ADB doesn't detect the device and pretty much works each time.

I think it's usb3 issue , adb doesn't work on usb3 ports,
there was a subject on how to convert usb3 port into usb2 search the forums

USB 3.0 worked fine for me on 8.1. I used Sooner ADB drivers and manually picked them.

I have no issues on win 8.1 I use the Google USB drivers that are with the sdk. The first time, I do have to go into device manager and update the driver. When it asks do you want to locate the driver or pick it from a list select pick from a list. There should be an Android entry if you installed the USB driver. Select that and then select adb interface. You'll also have to do the same for fastboot mode the first time.

I couldn't find a working version of ADB for 8.1 however I installed HTC Sync from the virtual CD and that installed all the drivers. Uninstalled sync manager cos I don't use it and the drivers remain and work fine.

check your usb 3 controller. Is it intel 3.0 usb controller. if you see intel xtensible controller in device manager this could be the issue, it can break adb on all ports. here is a link to a fix for this usb problem i can confirm it works as i have had this issue myself. Hope this helps

search for all-in-one-toolkit for the M8. it has links to installing drivers, u can use that toolkit to flash RUU, kernel, recovery, unlock bootloader and even run commands.

I used pdanet to install drivers for fastboot, you might wanna try it.
