[Q] "Adding Bookmarks to Homescreen"-Functionality broken in Kitkat / Cyanogenmod 11?
Since upgrading to Kitkat / Cyanogenmod 11 my only issue is that I can't seem to add Bookmarks to the Homescreen(s) anymore, not matter which Browser I use for that function (I have tried Chrome Beta, Firefox, Chrome and Dolphin). After choosing the "Add to Homescreen..."-Option in Chrome Beta for example, the Browser minimizes, revealing the Homescreen, but the selected Page will not appear as an icon.
Does anybody know of a workaround / solution?
(Otherwise Kitkat has been great to me, no problems so far and great performance... (ART!))
add widget & then select the bookmark
Had the same issue & spent like 20 mins trying to figure it out. Go to widgets --> gold star bookmark icon & then you get to select the bookmark to match it with.
I have the same issue with my galaxy s3. Where can I find that gold star bookmark icon?
Oké I found it. It's a just a workaround. I placed tribuchet back on my phone. That works better.

Hi,
The default / stock web browser in HTC Desire, is that it?
I found the user interface is not that good
- Is there any easier way to go to the bookmarks instead of pressing the "menu" button then bokmarks
- Is there any way to add FOLDER or GROUP in the bookmark?
Is this HTC limitation or Google Android limitation?
Its a No to all your questions really. What I do is have a folder on my home screen, and then create bookmarks for all my favourite sites and put them in the folder. Then I just need to open the folder and go straight to my bookmarked website. Its fast and easier this way.
Other option is to get Dolphin browser, an excellent browser. It`ll allow one tap of the icon at the top right to access your bookmarks. It uses gestures too so you can set one up for bookmarks.
Have used Dolphin since it was released and its always improving, but I still go back to the default browser as it does a better job of pinch/zoom.
The stock browser is not applying my Accessibility settings when it first loads a page. I have the font to be augmented to 145% but each time I open a web page it's like I didn't set the option at all. Once in the page I go to the accesibility settings again and disable/enable (or viceversa) anything in it (like the 'force zoom' option, or the 'text booster') and when I exit the settings (without ever reloading the page) the settings are finally applied. It's like the browser finally reads the settings and applies them.
Before you guys recommend a "better" browser I know there are many other browsers out there including chrome but I prefer this one and I want to know if anyone has had this happen and managed to fix it or anything.
Thanks!
I tried every browser and none was as good as "browser". Turns out that someone uploaded an AOSP version of browser to the play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.android.browser it's even better than the stock browser on the mini since this one is closer to the one I used to use on my S3 with all the cool nifty features (full screen mode, night mode, etc). It's really cool and it doesn't have the bugs ailing the stock browser.
Hi there,
Has anyone managed to import custom RSS feeds in blinkfeed? I either get FC (trying to add it with the stock browser), or no option to open it in Blinkfeed at all (through other browsers). I believe its a known bug from what I read, have you found a way around it perhaps?
Thanks
Hi All,
Just got my G3 for 3 weeks and it's quite decent. However, I would like to ask if there is any method to let the browser floating on current app instead of switching to it.
The current scenario is that when I tap on a link in any app other than browser, it will switch to browser or pop up dual-window (if the app supports dual window), but I hope it can pop a floating browser. I know that I can do it manually from pull-down menu and select browser on the quickslide navigation bar but in this way I'll have to enter the address by myself.
Thanks
I'm trying to use the bookmark widget. I place the widget on a screen and get the Choose a Bookmark box but the box is empty. I do have Bookmarks in Chrome. Any ideas how I can fix this? Thanks.
A lot of people seem to be having the same problem, me included. I found a minor fix for it but it's still a bit annoying.
If you want to add a bookmark to the home screen then first find chrome in Google Play and uninstall the updates. Now you should be able to add bookmarks to your home screen, when you have added all the bookmarks you want you can reinstall the latest chrome updates. Being able to add bookmarks still doesn't work but you have the bookmarks you placed already.
Thanks. That workaround should be good enough.
