hello ... i am a newbie android user . i want to unlock bootloader and root my htc wildfire s . please help me out how to do it . i have tried in HTC Dev . but there is needed to upgrade RUU but i didnt found any RUU for my htc wildfire s . my RUU version is (software no.) 2.26.841.4 . plz help me out .. thnx in advance
No, try without update RUU
First u must unlock bootloader, than boot recovery.img(if u have WFS 2012 or younger, u need special files for WFS2012)
After this, download root.zip, and pick on SDcard, and on recovery flash it. and tadaaaaaaaa.....
U have rooted! easy

Just do the HTC Dev unlocking without updating RUU (just skip that step). I've had the exactly same problem and when I skipped it, everything worked well anyway.

i actually flshed my first rom around 5 months back..i dint think or know much abt it.. i stay in india. now what do i do which RUUs from the list should i download...
and nope ..my phone is not branded..
There is only 1 india RUU available: RUU_Bravo_hTC_Asia_India_1.21.720.4_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127705_signed.exe
But is very old, so for example if ur phone is not amoled, that ruu can cause u big problems
Why u want unroot? To see if "IT IS POSSIBLE TO CHANGE ..BRAVO PVT-3 .. TO HTC DESIRE PVT-4" ?? That is possible only if they change ur phone with an other one..Why u should need that?? There is no difference for users between various pvt model

Hi
I have read all your post and replies. This is not any other post, m posting this after going for hours through your forum.
I have tried the new HTC Any root method, doesnt work. I rooted htc incredible s it rooted it, but with wildfire s it give error of out of memory. i made a space of 93mb in system memory, but still didnt work.
I have tried to update bootloader from HTC dev site, but my software version is 2.26.401.3, and no ROMs are yet available for this.
I have specifically searched wildfire s forum and have tried all the rooting methods but failed.
I have also tried the specific blog for htc wild fire s method but failed.
Kindly advise one method for which i can root htc wildfire s with above specifications.
Or can it be rooted at all?
I shall be very thankful.

Hi Ali well I rooted my wfs yesterday. Here's what I did.
1. Get ur bootloader unlocked from htcdev (just register and start following the steps, *Skip the RUU step*)
2. Restart ur wfs in hboot (by pressing power button and volume down)
3. Select fastboot and enter the cmd instructions.
4. Copy and paste the string and send it to htcdev for ur unlock key.
5. Follow the remaining steps to unlock the bootloader.
6. If. Your device is S-Off then go ahead with the root if it's S-ON then use the universal exploit and make sure that u have the original SD card inserted when using the universal exploit.
Hope this helps

Don't uninstall the above:
1 - it didnt work for me (Wildfire S, euro version)
2 - it installs a lot of junk software (toolbars, IM icon packs etc) that took me half an hour to uninstall.
pg76img not updating
While hboot processing PG76IMG parsing and getting an error message "main version old" what should I do now,I tried checking software updates but it said no updates available for ur phone, pls help me out of this

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I have a question regarding root HTC Wildfire S. I have root my phone, but I formatted the card on which we were all saved. I was wondering if I need root again or can just install the new CM9. I had cm7. Thank you.

You probably wouldn't need to use an RUU..... Check the bootloader just to be sure, if it says *LOCKED* on the top then you don't require using an Ruu
Can i use UnlockRoot?
first of all i want to thanks to csoulr666
I still have another question, can i root my phone with the UnlockRoot?
If someone already tried please leave a reply.
Or if there is a safer method for my phone.
Thanks
Hi guys , i need an input of an expert of what my next step will be in order to root .
So basically i used kingroot found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461
although the thread says desire eye is supported , the app didn't root the phone but to add insult to injury , i have a software modified bootloader, LOCKED with a missing stock recovery , so i dont know what my next step is to root , i already got the unlocking token for unlocking bootloader from htc dev , yet i know for a fact that after unlocking bootloader , the phone will do a hard rest but there is no recovery on the phone , so please guys your advice and guidance would be much appreciated .
thanks in advance
