My s3 is an i747 or att model. I unlocked it to use it on t mobile. My charge port went out so instead of replacing it I was just going to buy the t mobile version. Could I save some bucks by putting a clean esn t999 board in my i747 chassis? My screen is good and all.just want to make sure stuff would fit right. Id get 4g and a fixed charge port for a decent price if this is possible..
Should be fine, they should be identical save for the main board.

Hi all, i travelling to hawaii soon, and was thinking about purchasing a galaxy s3 while i am there, will i have any problems using this phone once i return to australia, i also noticed there are many variants of the s3, is there any i should avoid, or are they all the same but with different bundled software ?
i am keen to flash this device with custom roms in the future, so bundled software is not a huge concern of mine
Its either at&t or T-Mobile versions of galaxy s3 will work in your country but remember it will be sim locked...
Edit: might vary in Hawaii not sure if T-Mobile has network there...

They definitely have network there. My brother just moved there, and there are a few members on here also.

Wouldn't i be able to use the application 'GalaxSim Unlock' to unlock the sim, or would the S3's in hawaii likely be the Us qualcomm based GS3's ?
Why dont you just get one in Australia? Seems like a lot of trouble to go through? When you in Hawaii you just have to put a prepaid sim in it for it to work. Then when you go back home you have a phone that works well for your country without the hassle of doing something special to the phone to make it work for you. Plus you wouldn't be able to access the 4G networks of the Australian carriers with US variants.

Because they are much cheaper to buy, also, i do not consider unlocking/flashing etc to be a difficult task, i actually enjoy it, call it a pastime that i enjoy if you wish.
Also, only the 4G version of the S3 is going to work on a 4G network, so if i dont buy the 4G version, its not going to be a problem anywhere in the world
Fair enough.

What? All versions of the S3 are "4G". The one in hawaii will be Qualcomm based. If you buy an ATT one in Hawaii the LTE will not work in Australia

Sim card holder. I found an ad on eBay which a seller has put in a new Sim card holder for a Sprint Note2. I ask if he test the phone if it can made call using ATT or T Mobile; he said he does not know
Boy o boy sounds like a pretty good gimmick selling something that he doesn't know that works and somebody willing to buy it even better... if you do some reading and some googling you can find info about this....
Rockin it from my macknote2
The hardware IS in our phones. You do have to buy that adapter and replace some of the innards of the device but from what I've seen once you do it the phone is ready to accept the sim. You just have to replace certain hardware. Sprint decided to go with an integrated sim.
Edit: Maybe not so easy? See this thread

I've got a T-Mobile T889 and am interested in getting a wireless back cover like a friend has on his s3. I see them advertised
for the N7100 and am wondering if those would work on my T889. Thanks.

im looking to upgrade my contract to at&t next today and need some advice on how to use the galaxy tab s lte as a phone either on my current account or add a line and use it ? also what do I need to do to use it as a phone??
they are offering a free tab with the next plan if I upgrade my phone.
I am currently running the" mobile share plan" with 10g for 110 a month with a note II, what would be the best way to go about this??
The AT&T version of this device does not work as a phone. AT&T has removed the hardware necessary to do this. The International LTE version of this tablet will work as a phone but does not support using AT&T LTE service so will only provide non-lte Data. It is a trade off one way or the other. You need to decide which is more important to you.
Where can I find the info on what hardware was removed?? Thank you for your answer.i have since got the t707a but I will return it lol .seems the t705 is the one that works as a phone .
Thanx again

No need to look for info on removed hardware, just look at the top of the tablet, you can't see the earpiece ( removed) and the proximity sensor ( removed ) making very difficult ( or impossible) to port the phone app from the SM-T705. So with that, at&t can charge you twice for data access, phone and tablet...
Why would you want to have the phone version and pay for voice/text/data instead of just using voip with data only?
Because at&t charges 10.00 a month for a line , and I would like to have the tab as my primary since im already paying for data
