CyanogenMod 10 .qmg bootanimation - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Themes and Apps

CyanogenMod 10 .qmg Boot Animation For Samsung Galaxy Note 3
As promised this bootanimation and the rest will be focusing on higher resolution files for our big screens to look nice and crisp
1. First and foremost obviously you must be rooted and have root explorer.
2. Download and extract the zip in the attachments to your phone or push them through from the computer. It contains the 2 files needed for a bootanimation.
3. It is also always good practice to backup your phone in safestrap made possible by Hascode, MANY thanks for that.
4. Once you have everything, open root explorer and navigate to system/media and backup two files "bootsamsung.qmg" AND "bootsamsungloop.qmg".
5. After backing them up to another location on your internal or external storage, delete them from system/media and replace them with the 2 files that you extracted from the zip. Reboot and enjoy a non-stock Verizon-Free bootanimation.
Of course this is at your own risk, but it worked for me.

Here you go
If your boot animation files have a different name just rename the files in the zip to whatever your default boot animation files are named so it works. Assuming you're using a different device than the Note 3 that is. I think they may vary in file names from device to device, not sure....

the animation appears to blown out of proportion. iis due to the less pixel count in my device. it will be reallly grea if you can make Qmg for 320*240.
Thanks

Sorry about that again, here is the updated file. Judging by how it came out when you sent me the video, I don't really know if it will come out correctly even now that it's fixed because I don't have that type of phone to test it on. In the end you're a tester I guess. I can only verify it working properly on the Note 3.

320x240 CM 10 worked!

S3 shutdown animation

If someone is interested...
i've placed the Samsung Galaxy S3 shutdown.qmg file in the folder /system/media/video and replaced the new one for the old one and it gave me the S3 shutdown animation . I think it's kinda cool I've tried it with the bootsamsung.qmg and the bootsamsungloop.qmg in /system/media and it gave me an bootanimation that looked cool but it isn't what it should be maby i missed an extra file ore something
But before you replace the files , first copy them( the original ones ) to an place on your SD card !
Here is the file for the shutdown animation :
http://www.multiupload.nl/UPK51NKWRS
Just place it in the folder /system/media/video and replace it for the old one .
You need to have root acces and use an app to do it like Rootexplorer .
Here is the download link for the Bootanimation , just keep in mind that it DID NOT work on my phone as it should be !
http://www.multiupload.nl/6R2LL0DZ6X
http://www.multiupload.nl/NS83D79HKP
These files need to ben in the folder : /system/media/
And replace it with the old files there .
You need to have root acces and use an app to do it like Rootexplorer .
Have Fun !
*EDIT*
I am using Dutch Ginger Power ROM and Semaphore kernel and for me the correct folders are at the place i discribed , how it works on other kernels /ROM's i do not know ! if the folder/file isn't there , wel .... Sorry can't help you further and sorry for the bad English if someone is annoyed at this , send me money for an English education
*EDIT2*Because some people experianced problems when downloading my uploads , i've uploaded them trough another site called Multiupload , they are up and running again YEAH !

I've tried this on ICS333 1.1 but there was no folder called "video".
When I created such folder (without specifying any permissions) and put the file in there, there was still no shutdown animation (also after a reboot)
the link does not work
Nice
Cool, it worked perfect for me i'm keeping it. i'm on Gamers Rom V11 Gingerbread
@davedh, I don't think your bootanimation is wrong. The galaxy S3 bootanimation only animates the Samsung logo, which is different with S2's and S1's.
So could you upload the bootanimation too?

I like almost all of them. Is there any chance to randomize which one is played on every boot? Probably not, right?

Unfortunately, I believe there is no such possibility.
NP. Currently I set the Core animation. Sick and slick.
On a side note, there any possibility that these boot animations could cause random reboots? It doesn't seem logical, but it started happening right after I set them. I put about 6 of them in the /system/media folder with only one set to be the boot animation - could this be the problem?

I have tested all of these boot animations on my i9001 and did not encounter any problem. I haven't tried putting several .zips in /system/media though, I store them all on sdcard. But I assume there is possibility of strange behavior after putting unknown files on system partition. You could try to move unused boot animations to sdcard too and see if your phone stops acting weird.
Did just that - moved all other animations to SD card. Will report in a few days if the problem is related.
EDIT: Yep, it seems the random reboots were related to having more of these bootanimaton zips in the /system/media folder. After moving them the reboots completely stopped.

Can I use these with cm10? I replace the default with one of these and when rebooting it only shoes a android logo and nothing else
nice stuff. using the twist one at the moment. Could you make a version of Twist where the background is solid black (so the lights aren't even on) rather than the lit up "black"??

To OP, how did you "degif" the files? Basically, how did you make the bootanimatons?

I've contacted the author of these .gifs to ask permission before I converted those into bootanimations. If you are interested in using these bootanimations in your works, I'd contact the author first and credit him, of course.

I do not change whole design, I just convert .gifs into bootanimations with minor changes - to fit the dimensions. But I'll see what I can do, okay.

I'll take a look at that link, thanks.
I use GIMP to edit dimensions of image and convert each frame of .gif into standalone .png or .jpg, then I edit desc.txt to adjust framerate and compress all files into .zip archive. Nothing special.

Hmm...
What rom are you running (I'm assuming you're installing this on a nexus 7)?. I'm not sure if it would make a difference (but who knows). I have this bootanimation on my N7 with AOKP 4.2.2, My Xyboard with stock rooted ICS 4.04, and my Razr Maxx HD on stock rooted JB 4.1.1.
I'll do some other testing. I have a few friends with N7's.

Isn't working for me, even though I think it is user error.
Using root explorer I changed the permissions to rw-rw-r. I didn't see a folder named local inside my data folder.
I'm sure I didn't put it in the right place. Also, do we need to install the apk, or just copy/paste/rename/permissions of the zip?

Are you looking in the /data folder in the root of your device?
It's different than /sdcard/data.
So if your rooted, you can use rootexplorer to navigate to the topmost folder using the "parent folder" option at the top of every file/folder directory list until you cant navigate upwards any more. That /data should have a /local folder in it.
The apk is just a download and install process. No copying/pasting/permission changing necessary.
Yeah I tried the apk and all it did was make my auto-brightness go crazy. Dim->bright->dim every few seconds. Had to uninstall with titanium backup and everything is normal again.

yes! there are two ways to do that...
1. Resize it to our phone's resolution, this way you lose quality
2. Center it on screen, this will retain quality but the image will look small
Eg like the Ubuntu bootanimation i made, it is from a 480p source.
Send me the bootanim and i'll work on it.

1. Use .jpg as the image format.
2. If you have photoshop, reduce every image's quality in order to reduce filesize. Do not take it below 20% or the pixels will become evident. This way, below 50% the quality of image will deteriorate exponentially.
3. If you don't have Photoshop you can use a software called FotoSizer, which will do batch jobs.

You can change it by extracting logo.bin but i don't think there's any tool to do that for Redmi.

[Mod] Boot Animation / Shutdown Animation - Oneplus Animated Logo

This is something that I found after an hour or so of googling for cool boot animations. I cant seem to find it again, and I dont think the thread had a preview video or gif, so I extracted all the images from the zip and made a quick video. Attached are two zips that you can just place in "system/media" with root explorer or an equivalent (Of course I would make a backup of the two zips that are there in case you want to revert to stock). Technically its the same zip just renamed, but it works really well for both startup and shutdown .
Also this may be a stock boot animation for one of the Oneplus devices, but I have no idea since this is my first time going Onplus lol. Anyway, hope someone besides me finds this useful :]

I love it. Simple. Clean and effect. Better than those super jazzy, "hey Mom, look! My first boot animation!" Stuff.
Looking good! I would like to use it but I have an "access denied" message when I add the files in "system/media" while I'm rooted with Magisk. I tried with Root Browser and Fx Browser with root permissions.
No problems here using Solid Explorer

Did you remount /system/ as RW? it is RO by default so you would be denied access unless you did.
Watchdogs is a far better boot animation
Could you please upload a preview for the shutdown one too?

It's the same as the boot animation, but it only plays like 3 or 4 seconds of it, but it works really well.

Anyway, hope someone besides me finds this useful :]

it just goes into the same place as the boot animation. You should see both of those files /system/media

My 6T does not have a shutdownanimation.zip by default. Placing your file in system/media results in nothing. Is it only for the TMobile variant?

That's something I hadn't considered. Yeah I have the tmobile variant, but try putting it there anyway and see what happens. It shouldn't hurt anything.

Nothing happens when you put the shutdown animation zip in system/media. The phone shuts down as usual with the "shutting down" prompt

Can confirm. Nothing happened with shut down zip. I'm in tmo variant flashed to international version.

Interesting! Alright thanks to both of you for trying, I'll update the OP.
Will this removed the t-mo animations?
It works. I like this animation better than the current stock one.
Thank u OP, looks great, better than stock imo.
This is exactly what I was looking for! I have T-Mobile variant and I really just rooted to get rid of that awful pink garbage when I booted my phone. Fantastic find!
