I've made a boot animation and LWP based on a boot animation I used to roll on my xoom by jase33 on XDA. The original can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1114948
the boot animation can be downloaded here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7652847/GreenNexusbootanimation.zip md5:BB3E2E4BA5A03AC159C876F12CA5E662

did you put it in /data/local, change the name to bootanimation.zip, and change permissions to rw-rw-r--?
I've also included an md5 checksum in the first post: BB3E2E4BA5A03AC159C876F12CA5E662

Hmm...
What rom are you running (I'm assuming you're installing this on a nexus 7)?. I'm not sure if it would make a difference (but who knows). I have this bootanimation on my N7 with AOKP 4.2.2, My Xyboard with stock rooted ICS 4.04, and my Razr Maxx HD on stock rooted JB 4.1.1.
I'll do some other testing. I have a few friends with N7's.

Xenon HD, I'll try it again later with a new download. Any chance you'll make a blue version?
Isn't working for me, even though I think it is user error.
Using root explorer I changed the permissions to rw-rw-r. I didn't see a folder named local inside my data folder.
I'm sure I didn't put it in the right place. Also, do we need to install the apk, or just copy/paste/rename/permissions of the zip?

Are you looking in the /data folder in the root of your device?
It's different than /sdcard/data.
So if your rooted, you can use rootexplorer to navigate to the topmost folder using the "parent folder" option at the top of every file/folder directory list until you cant navigate upwards any more. That /data should have a /local folder in it.
The apk is just a download and install process. No copying/pasting/permission changing necessary.
Yeah I tried the apk and all it did was make my auto-brightness go crazy. Dim->bright->dim every few seconds. Had to uninstall with titanium backup and everything is normal again.

I had the idea to start a topic where the users show their

are we just supposed to copy the file to /data/local? I did that and I just got a blank screen for the boot animation

Look at the modded framework thread and download "Color Stat"

Creat right folders,Updat Script, zip the files and sign again.
Difficult to explain for me I´m from germany.
Maybe there are other methods to do this!

The app does not work on jelly bean.... as far as my tests have gone... use at your own risk... or just download it to make me feel my app is popular :3
Full functioning Jelly Bean animation from Galaxy Nexus and the original animation that was on the Nexus 7 when it was given at IO, before the OTA a couple hours after.
The second is my personal favorite. You can grab these animations on my app called Aniboot. It has many other animations, and is very easy to use. Try it out and see what you think.
Here's the link to the app.

Thanks! Now i can have this legendary boot animation on my HTC Incredible S
Thanks I will try this out once my tablet arrives.
Tried on my Nexus 7 with 4.1.1 rooted, it just broke my boot animation and now it is the stock "Android" word. Restore stock doesn't work either, however the app reports that it was successful in installing.
Any ideas?

pull the stock backup in the AniBoot folder on the external storage partition "/sdcard", then rename it bootanimation.zip. Finally, push it to /system/media and /data/local.
I mentioned it brakes after i found the error, but i'm still trying to fix it. So far, no luck. I don't know if it just has to do with JB or what, because i'm using the same method and it just doesn't cut it.

Figured it out. My boot still didn't work after using the method above but I used "Root Explorer" to check the permissions on the files pushed when your app edits the boot screen. They are set to rw-------. Changed it to: rw-rw-r-- and I now have a custom boot animation!
Apply this in your app and I bet it will fix it! :highfive:

Bumping to say I pushed the downloaded JB I/O animation into the right folder via root explorer and it worked like a charm.
BTW thanks for making the app!
Also the 1280x800 animations should really be 800x1200 for nexus 7 support as it boots the animation in portrait. Not sure if that is possible with what you are using for raw images.

You should have done a nandroid backup before flashing this. You can't go back to stock if you don't have the backup. Another method is to download the ROM you are currently using and extract the bootanimation.zip from the ROM's system/media folder. Then follow the OP instruction to replace the current bootanimation. Hope that helps.
Remember, always nandroid backup when flashing anything.
Well. I was able to make the shut down animation work.
but the boot/start one does not work. I made everything like the tutorial.
No luck
I'm using the stock rom. Strange.

If you still have the boot animation stored in your phone, you don't have to worry. You just have to remove the bootanimation from the temporal location. Normally when an app installs a boot animation it stores the files into a semi-permanent location:
/system/media/bootanimation.zip
But the stock bootanimation is stored in the permament location:
/data/local/bootanimation.zip
Check with rootexplorer or other root file manager app if you still have the stock bootanimation in the permanent location; if the files are still there, the you only have to remove the bootanimation.zip file from the semi-permanent location (/system/media/ easy fix 1). If you deleted these files, then you will have to look for stock bootanimations, and insert the files in the permanet location (/data/local/ easy fix 2). Or do a fresh stock install (time demanding fix). Either way, good luck, I hope you get your boot animation back in your device! :good:

This is not a flashable zip, just use ROM Toolbox or any other root app that inserts bootanimations, or use root explorer to manually place the files in /system/media/ and rename the file to bootanimation.zip with permissions rwxr-xr-x

CyanogenMod 10 .qmg Boot Animation For Samsung Galaxy Note 3
As promised this bootanimation and the rest will be focusing on higher resolution files for our big screens to look nice and crisp
1. First and foremost obviously you must be rooted and have root explorer.
2. Download and extract the zip in the attachments to your phone or push them through from the computer. It contains the 2 files needed for a bootanimation.
3. It is also always good practice to backup your phone in safestrap made possible by Hascode, MANY thanks for that.
4. Once you have everything, open root explorer and navigate to system/media and backup two files "bootsamsung.qmg" AND "bootsamsungloop.qmg".
5. After backing them up to another location on your internal or external storage, delete them from system/media and replace them with the 2 files that you extracted from the zip. Reboot and enjoy a non-stock Verizon-Free bootanimation.
Of course this is at your own risk, but it worked for me.

If your boot animation files have a different name just rename the files in the zip to whatever your default boot animation files are named so it works. Assuming you're using a different device than the Note 3 that is. I think they may vary in file names from device to device, not sure....

Sorry about that again, here is the updated file. Judging by how it came out when you sent me the video, I don't really know if it will come out correctly even now that it's fixed because I don't have that type of phone to test it on. In the end you're a tester I guess. I can only verify it working properly on the Note 3.
