Open links in apps not browser - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Was wondering if I can change the settings some how so that when I click on a link in this app rather than opening the eBay Web page in Dolphin browser it opens it in the eBay app I have downloaded or if I click on a YouTube link in a forum it opens the YouTube app not YouTube in the browser.

Clear defaults for browser under settings, application manager. Next time you click on a youtube link, it will ask you what app to use.

youtube mobile page

whenever I click a youtube link, whether its from facebook, or twitter, or anywhere else the link opens up the mobile web page instead of the native android app. this is strange to me. on both my two previous phones the mytouch 3g slide and samsung vibrant, a youtube link would immediately open up the app. This is not the case on our droid incredible 2's.
could this be a t-mobile vs Verizon thing? i don't see what benefit verizon could gain from preventing us from launching the app from a link though.
Thanks in advance for your help
Go to settings, applications, internet (if you're on sense Rom, browser if aosp) and clear defaults. Next time you try to open a you tube video it will ask you what you wanna open it with
Edit: it doesn't work. I checked permissions for you tube and they're the same as the browser' s. I re installed the app and still doesn't come up as an option.
"the relentless pursuit of the perfect ROM "
I've seen this behavior even on my CM7 Inc2. I have to scroll down to the bottom of the mobile page and hit "Desktop" which launches the YouTube app. Silly, if you ask me.
?
No matter what my YouTube app opens when I click a link.

I wish i knew what the problem was on my end then.
A little bit of insight....
I clicked a YouTube link from Google, the YouTube app played the video. I shared the link from the app to Facebook. I then clicked my own link in the Facebook app and the YouTube page came up, not the app.
So, Facebook, why aren't you opening YouTube links with our native app?

Maybe Facebook's use of https routing affects the phone's reaction to links and default openings. I doubt YouTube supports secure browsing like that, so the native app won't trigger when redirected out of a secured server.
Just speculation.

YouTube and Chrome

I've noticed that when you click on a you tube video or link in chrome it takes you to the YouTube mobile site instead of the YouTube app like the stock browser. Does anyone know a work around for this?

I think a lot of people have noticed that:
1 - Chrome will always us a mobile site if on is available, and the user agent cannot be changed.
2 - Chrome does not appear to be able to launch apps from links...

That could change with future updates as well. Never know, its just a beta.
I've also noticed chrome doesn't give the option to push to desktop view like the stock does. Overall, I like the speed and features of the chrome.

Wanamlite 3.7 youtube problem

Hey is there anyway to make youtube app launch when I press youtube link, now it just opens youtube mobilesite in browser.
Only way I have been able to workaroud it is to make tubemate default youtube app and there I can select watch and youtube app starts.
How I can make it so all youtube links opens directly on youtube app in browser, e-mail, and any other app.
It worked fine in wanamlite ics roms but on jellybean it just refuses to work.

I also have wanamlite 3.7 and when I click YouTube links it prompts for standard app to open the link and i can choose YouTube. Perhaps delete standards in browser and YouTube app

Well I will try but if I remember correctly I never saw youtube to be one on that list.

this happens to me too with youtube and gmaps links.
tried to clean cache and app default values but still the problem, seems to be a random bug of jb LIB rom.
I have noticed that if the video link starts with http://m.youtube it launchs browser youtube, tried with http://www.youtube.com links and working fine with youtube app
No dice even after I manually reset browser and YouTube apps defaults I cannot start YouTube app directly just by pressing youtube link.
Only time when it works is in tapatalk's video links, those whit little preview of the video whit that play symbol on the middle.
But if I bress youtube link in browser or facebook or any other app it ether launch it directly in browser or let's choose default app for YouTube, BUT youtube app is not one of those apps on the list, I only have default browser, chrome and tubemate.
How I can make/force youtube app to launch as default app, in wanams ics roms it was as easy as allways sense galaxy s and android 2.2 but now on s3 and 4.1 I cannot make youtube to be default youtube app

Watch a video from the web while reading another web page

I remember doing it b4 I was on worldstarhiphop.com watching a video and then I went to another page and read something and I had the video still playing like a pop up video. any idea how to do it?

Solution: On the multiscreen options, there are two web browsers (chrome and default).
Just select chrome for one web page and then the default web browser for the other...simples.

Site Admin, please read: Landing page "Root" video.

So the video on http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1891#root plays automatically in the background whenever you get to the Samsung Galaxy Note II landing page. Is it possible to stop this from loading until I press play? Or I figured it was code on the page telling it to load that video and play automatically.
Seeing as how alot of us are using tethering already anyway on our phones, it takes up quite a bit of bandwidth that we ALL KNOW Sprint doesn't have to spare.
I have adblock already.

I am not experiencing what the OP is describing. The video does not auto play for me.
Go into your phone's browser settings, find Plugins and set them to Click to Play or Disabled etc.

This is on a full desktop browser guys. Not mobile.
I've never had this happen, not on any of the four separate computers I use (at a minimum) every day.

Chrome, almost exclusively, FF on a random occasion. Two of the computers have Chrome (and all ad-on/settings/b-marks) synced. The other, shared workstation...
Try Chrome in incognito mode, make sure it's not a sh1tty extention.

I have this happen all the time. I use Chrome. I haven't figured out how to stop it, but I know it's Youtube video, and somewhere in my settings, Chrome automatically starts any Youtube video. I noticed the YouTube thing on other sites. I just haven't been able to find the Youtube video on the landing page, but I do know the video playing is from YouTube because I have watched it on YouTube.
So it's A Chrome thing then... Simple enough.
