So the video on http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1891#root plays automatically in the background whenever you get to the Samsung Galaxy Note II landing page. Is it possible to stop this from loading until I press play? Or I figured it was code on the page telling it to load that video and play automatically.
Seeing as how alot of us are using tethering already anyway on our phones, it takes up quite a bit of bandwidth that we ALL KNOW Sprint doesn't have to spare.
I have adblock already.

I am not experiencing what the OP is describing. The video does not auto play for me.
Go into your phone's browser settings, find Plugins and set them to Click to Play or Disabled etc.

This is on a full desktop browser guys. Not mobile.
I've never had this happen, not on any of the four separate computers I use (at a minimum) every day.

Chrome, almost exclusively, FF on a random occasion. Two of the computers have Chrome (and all ad-on/settings/b-marks) synced. The other, shared workstation...
Try Chrome in incognito mode, make sure it's not a sh1tty extention.

I have this happen all the time. I use Chrome. I haven't figured out how to stop it, but I know it's Youtube video, and somewhere in my settings, Chrome automatically starts any Youtube video. I noticed the YouTube thing on other sites. I just haven't been able to find the Youtube video on the landing page, but I do know the video playing is from YouTube because I have watched it on YouTube.
So it's A Chrome thing then... Simple enough.

whenever I click a youtube link, whether its from facebook, or twitter, or anywhere else the link opens up the mobile web page instead of the native android app. this is strange to me. on both my two previous phones the mytouch 3g slide and samsung vibrant, a youtube link would immediately open up the app. This is not the case on our droid incredible 2's.
could this be a t-mobile vs Verizon thing? i don't see what benefit verizon could gain from preventing us from launching the app from a link though.
Thanks in advance for your help
Go to settings, applications, internet (if you're on sense Rom, browser if aosp) and clear defaults. Next time you try to open a you tube video it will ask you what you wanna open it with
Edit: it doesn't work. I checked permissions for you tube and they're the same as the browser' s. I re installed the app and still doesn't come up as an option.
"the relentless pursuit of the perfect ROM "
I've seen this behavior even on my CM7 Inc2. I have to scroll down to the bottom of the mobile page and hit "Desktop" which launches the YouTube app. Silly, if you ask me.
?

I wish i knew what the problem was on my end then.
A little bit of insight....
I clicked a YouTube link from Google, the YouTube app played the video. I shared the link from the app to Facebook. I then clicked my own link in the Facebook app and the YouTube page came up, not the app.
So, Facebook, why aren't you opening YouTube links with our native app?

Maybe Facebook's use of https routing affects the phone's reaction to links and default openings. I doubt YouTube supports secure browsing like that, so the native app won't trigger when redirected out of a secured server.
Just speculation.
I've noticed that when you click on a you tube video or link in chrome it takes you to the YouTube mobile site instead of the YouTube app like the stock browser. Does anyone know a work around for this?

I think a lot of people have noticed that:
1 - Chrome will always us a mobile site if on is available, and the user agent cannot be changed.
2 - Chrome does not appear to be able to launch apps from links...

That could change with future updates as well. Never know, its just a beta.
I've also noticed chrome doesn't give the option to push to desktop view like the stock does. Overall, I like the speed and features of the chrome.
workaround

Just curious. I see very few reasons to use this feature. I just hold home for to seconds and hop back and forth. Or copy and paste. What do you guys love it for?

Is it too late to modify the topic before it's flooded with tons of useless pics showing 2 apps running? No offense, but it's an idea as pointless as posting home screens or telling which color phone you bought.
Perhaps we would all be helped by elaborating on, "how have you gotten the most use or productivity using mw"

When I'm editing files on my phone per instructions of a developer, it is nice to have both root explorer open as well as a screen shot from gallery illustrating what needs to be done so I don't have to keep closing and opening the file editing app.

I find it makes it easier to copy text from an app (like browser) into an SMS/email etc without switching back and forth. Don't use it a lot but when i do use it, it's very useful and works very well.
For me it solves the problem of YouTube shutting down whenever the app is not in use. I listen to a lot of music there and many videos aren't even videos but just images with the audio playing. Now I fire up youtube in 1 section and open the browser or whatever else in the other and maiximize its size.
I use it while doing Google chat with people while also Web browsing.

I watch a lot of football (soccer) online but lately Dolphin (modded) and Boat browser have been freezing and crashing while trying to play flash video.
Any suggestions would be great!

Actually NONE of the browsers fully support flash video in-frame on websites.
In other words, we can all play any flash video as long as it's not embedded in
a webpage.
There are a very few websites which are setup in such a way that allows any of the new
models of android phones to play/view flash videos which are imbedded in the webpages.
My S2 and S3 had no problem doing it............. I am sure sooner or later there will be
a mod, fix or an upgrade so it works properly all the time on any webpage.

Try TubeMate. Here's their official website: tubemate.net
or maybe video tube downloader
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 4 mit Tapatalk 4
tube mate forced me to quite the browser i am in, copy paste the link into the program and then it will download that video.
tube downloader has a browser in the program it self. so i just go to any site i want, and as soon as the video starts playing, i get a "save" icon that with just one click, it will save automatically.
