I've spent hours Googling different dock solutions and never saw that one. Looking forward to your review!

I backed this one when it was still on Kickstarter. Should have it in the next week or two.

A little pricey but like the idea that I can easily swap cable as I switch devices / upgrade. They claim this should be the last dock anyone would ever need to buy. Will post review once I receive it. Picked one up for myself and my daughters.

Intrigued, the dock looks very small, would it really support an ipad?
Supposed to anyway. Will let you know in a few weeks. Have ordered a few for myself and daughters. Have a few iPads that I can test it with.

I actually have one of these for my S3. I did try it out when I first got my G Pad (haven't had it long). One thing to note though, the dock is rated at .500 amps and not the 2 amps that the G Pad needs. I got this from the label on the bottom of the dock. The dock does not come with a charging brick so I used the LG one (~2 amp). My G Pad charged to 100%. I opened up the dock and there is a small circuit board that has the micro usb and sound connector. I couldn't see if there were any active components that would limit the current.
I later had problems with the G Pad powering up but think this was caused from the sd card I was using. I'll play around with it more and let you know how I make out.
BTW..it's not the most stablest dock for th G Pad. I think it is more for phones. I would actually like to find a horizontal dock.
Thanks for the update. If it doesn't work for my g pad 8.3 I can always use it for my galaxy s3. It looks like it is over 4" wide. Hopefully it will be reasonably stable.

I'd be interested in this as well. Especially a dock with a built in speaker.
I've got two of these and they're great. Lisa from Mobiletechreview.com uses these. They work with my Gnote10.1, Razr Maxx, Nexus 7, and now the G Pad. You can also order them on Amazon.

This is what I am using. It is a folding stand, not a dock but very portable and adjustable (plus its very cheap)

Depending on your device, there is a groove on the bottom to route a USB cable. It's not custom. Just a big stump of heavy rubber that works.

Amazon link.
I offered the blue-shirt $15.00, and he said sure.
It seems to charge the tablet well enough. Because the USB charging port sticks up from the cradle, the G Pad does not sit flat into the dock. Instead, it can rock a bit on the charger.
I have not used the built-in speakers and assume they are horrible.
It bought it as a lark, doubtful that it would work. But now I use it every night to charge up my tablet. It's ugly and clunky, but works just fine.
I've been using this stand

I use this and it works fine. Simple and just use the OOB charging cable as I have it in landscape anyway.

Hi,
This arrived from Hong Kong today. Took about 2 weeks from Hong Kong to Singapore. A short show and tell.
I've been looking for a dock that I can use with the case on and this answers it. I'm using it with my Nilkin hard cover case.

Simple packaging. Sent via Air from HK.
This is what is inside the package. Note that the extra plastic thing is originally attached to the dock as a buffer to ensure that phones without cases are held firmly. If you are using the dock with a case, you remove that. It is quite easy to remove. Just pull it forwards towards you (not upwards). Comes off easily.
My One X with its Nilkin case being held in the dock.
It has quite a huge bump at the back. This is where the cable is connected. USB cable is provided.
The One X w/ Case plugged into the Dock which in turn is plugged into a MHL to a Dell U3011 monitor.

It really is a great dock, I just got mine today from a UK seller for £10, 2 days late mind you because I forgot to change the address at checkout... Phone fits perfectly and it's actually cheaper than some of the far worse quality docks I've seen around. Usually I worry about scratching the body with the connector but the phone finds its way beautifully.
Just curious, does it activate desk dock mode on its own?
It doesn't activate dock mode. I'm guessing the things that will activate dock mode are those that connect via the pogo pins.
How do you get the dock mode up? is there an app in play store?
What app is that you are using for a clock mate?

I have a HC C704 case, and as lovely as it is it's too big for this cradle with the buffer on and is loose with the buffer off, so if you're buying this cradle and case be aware you'll have to have a loose wonky phone or prop it up with a bit of blutak or something.

Yes.
There are 2 versions of this dock. One with built in HDMI and one without.
I didn't buy the HDMI version because I had my own MHL.
So the HDMI version (or mine with an attached MHL) can connect to your TV/Monitor/etc via HDMI.

Oh, sorry, my bad.
Weekend project. Rip apart my WCP-700 Qi charger, remove the guts, and then integrate it all into the ash tray of my car. Here's how it turned out.
All mocked up, held things in with hot glue. Not worried about how it looks since I'm going to be covering it once the electronics work.

This is the 12v to 19v converter I used. Ordered a cheap cigarette lighter adapter from amazon to do the conversion. The WCP-700 needs a 19v (?) 500ma power source. The one I found output 19v, 1.5A.
Almost finished product, it all works with the exception of the cover.
Video of the final product! Wanted to keep the ash tray door and the 12v power source, I think I did pretty well.
That's awesome.. Great thing to have

Bought it off of amazon a few weeks ago, looks like they ran out I was looking to buy another once since I ripped this one to shreds. :\
Hah, looks like you won the race
Questions:
Did you use the Amazon charger that I put in the other thread, or did you find a better option?
You mentioned an issue with the N4. Was this position based, or do you think it's a power/signal issue?
Thanks!

1. I used the LG WCP-700
2. I think it's a little bit of both. The way the transmit coil sits in the ash tray, it ends up being a little crooked. I think the glass back on the N4 is just think enough to prevent it from working correctly. The coil I bought for my S3 is a tiny bit offset as it is, plus it only has a super thin plastic back to go through.

Note, the plug is too large. I soldered all the connections so I wasn't interested in matching up the plugs anyway. The stock plug on the LG looks to be about 3mm OD, center positive.
Looks good, I'm not sure about having to press the phone down in there like that, I think that would scratch the sides at some point?
Other than that, pretty awesome. I liked my wireless charging mod, but I finally stopped using it because I wanted a protective case.
T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-T999 Tapatalk 2
Here is my simple question.
Did you try running the Qi charger with a 12v input before doing your stepup to 19v?
I have read at least two people who claim that even though the input is rated at 19v it will work with 12v.
It makes sense to me that 12v would work since the output is only 5v anyhow.
I know your setup is all need already but can you or anyone else confirm if that is true or not?
Really quite interested in a mod like this but I don't really like the idea of stepping 12v up to 19v back down to 5v if I don't have to.
And I would also rather not spend the extra $12 if I don't have to.
Thanks!

I've pre-ordered the HTC One and my wife will be getting my One XL which is only about 8 months old now. Her Blackberry has kicked the bucket and she's sick of them now. Eventually all BB fanatics see the light, just takes some longer than others. LOL!
So looking forward to this phone though! Thanks for sharing the desktop stand. I'll be sure to order one to replace the one I have at work now.
OP hasn't mentioned it, but the dock he linked to is compatible with some cases too, so those of you who like to keep your phones cased up may not have to remove them when docking. I can imagine that's quite a bonus.

Anyone got a good car mount go the OGP? Thinkg of going with the iBolt but worried about it hitting the on./off and vol buttons
Our landscape home screen will flip either way. If that helps any.
I'm using a smart gear car mount ($15 at Micro Center) that has been working very well. I have a case on my phone that protects the buttons a bit so I haven't had any issues with it. I haven't tried it without the case on but I think it would be ok without, just probably would squeeze it quite as tight on the phone as I do with the case on.

I have that. It's pretty ridiculous. Every few weeks I pull it off the mount (which is easy) and wash it under warm or hot water. Sticky as new again.
Do not use that with a naked phone, It will pull the back cover off LOL!
If you have a slot-loading cd slot on your car stereo, you can use this.

I've been using it for about two years, bought it for my original Galaxy Note and fits the LG OGP as well. It won't damage the slot and it doesn't jerk around or bounce with the car's movements.

I just got the vent mount version of that holder and it works surprisingly well with the OG Pro. I thought it would be loose, but it did a great job on a road trip.
As far as Off Roading, I drive a Subaru Baja.... So I have no idea LMAO!
I got the iBolt xProDock (the generic one) and the thing is great, not interfering with the buttons at all, and it's rock solid. I do use it with a TPU case, rather than bare, mind you.

I also got one of those universal clip-style mounts (not the dock style ones). It's actually pretty good too, though there's no real way to fix a charging cable to it without it looking strange. Also, with my windshield's angle, I had to adjust the thing to the stops at both ends for the OGP to be angled properly. It would probably work better on a more vertical windshield.

I bought the one for the F240 from overseas off ebay, it is a direct snap in fit.
Hopefully I'll get it soon.

Best I've ever use. Don't block your display either (depends on system)

I ordered one of those, it's to big. Seems like it was designed for the Galaxy Note 2 and someone repurposed it.
Sent from my LG Optimus G Pro using Tapatalk 2.
Well, they will get red, lol, at least it was only $5

Anyone considering Nokia's universal wireless charging cradle CR-200 http://www.nokia.com/global/products/accessory/cr-200/
Seems like it will fit our LGPro but not sure if the 0.750A will be sufficient to keep the charge while running navigation... Any thoughts?

I still have my RAM mount when I had a Nexus 7. This thing was solid and they also make universal mounts for phones. You have to purchase the base to connect to your car though. I had one that mounts to the base of the passenger side seat. This was set up for a tablet though. Nexus 7's make awesome GPS There's lots of different choices you can mix and match parts to make a custom mount as long as they're compatible with each other.

I went old school.............
Low gauge sheet metal, check!
Sheet Metal Bender, check!
Industrial grade velcro, check!
I cut a 2" wide by 5" long piece of sheet metal and I bent it 90 degrees, took three screws and screwed the angle sleeve into the dash.
Applied 1 side of the velcro to the angle sleeve, over the top, so the the velcro doesn't want to peel off the sleeve.
Applied the other side of the velcro to the back of the phone and it's done.
I wrap the usb cord around the bottom of the sleeve below the phone. My phone doesn't move, and it's very usable
So i bought these 2 bad boys during the discount Motorola had on their store and thought it would be nice to share with you guys my thought of them.
Have used them for almost 4 days now and here are my comments:
The Dock
It's the first dock i ever get for a device so it's been a nice experience overall and i do enjoy having my phone there standing up waiting for me to ask something away. The design is pretty cool and to be honest the color set on my Moto X Dev Edition rides just nicely with the color scheme of it so no complains there.

It is a bit pricey for what you get, which basically is the dock, a wall plug and an usb cable (usb to microusb), have to add that the cable and wall plug was kinda crappy, it made this little noise which for what i know of electronics is a capacitor not working properly so i just replaced that with the OEM cable and plug.
The usb mount part gives you movemente freedom up untill 75 degrees aprox, so that's nice.
Now as for the features or the use of it, i move it from my PC to my night stand table and finally i see a use for the daydream function which kinda sucked for me since they released it. Of course i am pretty much lost on which application can benefit of this feature but as for now having the clock itself helps me out alot when i wake up at night to take a piss - you know.
To wrap it up, i like the dock but i still consider it pricey for a regular user so unless you have the money for it - find an alternate solution.
The Battery
You guys know how the Moto X gets a kick ass battery life, well i use my phone like alot, seriously i kill the battery in 6 hours cause i steam music on LTE, keep FB nonstop plus i have my wireless headset running 24/7. With Kit Kat i do have a bigger drain but meh i really don't care much about it since i can always charge it or use the battery.
It takes around 4 hours to charge completely and it has the ability to charge 2 devices at the same time or at least i believe it does since it has 2 output connections.
It also has an additional Micro USB port which is attached to the powerpack itself so if you don't carry cables with you, it is just the perfect companion. And for the 3000 mah capacity i seriously think this one is a no brainer. Again it is an expensive tool but i honestly believe it could save you when you are out of the city, on a trip or simply out of juice.
So far i have charged it twice and used it to charge my phone once, it still had around 50% capacity which is indicated with little LED dots in the front of it, just above the Motorola Logo. One minor detail, the plastic does tend to catch a lot of scratches, you can see them on the final pic.
In conclusion i would suggest you to grab the powerpack if you travel alot or if you just simply use the phone as much as i do.
Again, there are much more cheaper solutions but to be honest i don't trust chinese batteries, had a bad experience with one of them. Kinda blowed up on me so, noty.
Please feel free to ask anything about the dock or battery i will try to answer and provide feedback as needed.
sorry for the language, english ain't my first.
thanks
Ive been trying to pick up a dock, they have been out of stock all week. Sucks
Nice review
Envy. In my country Motorola doesn't sell accessories and it's impossible to find them.

I'm liking the dock, but i don't find a need for a power battery
Off-Topic: Hey what case is that?
It's a cheap bumper case I got off Amazon, let me know if you want the link.
Agree with you on the battery but i had a $50 coupon i had to use on their store so that plus the discount made me buy those.

Yeah if you don't mind that'd be awesome
And I gotcha. I probably would've done the same

I have a Pebble watch added as a trusted device. Unfortunately, the phone relocks when docked. Major buzzkill of an amazing feature.

The Moto X one? Why/How much?
Are you saying the only reason you got the battery pack was because of the coupon you had? Just curious because I was thinking about getting one of those Anker ones. They seem to do more for the price.
But don't blame you if you basically got that battery pack for free.
On the dock, how much friction is required for insertion / removal of the phone on the USB connector?
