Is there a solution for that or not. I'm running official 2.3.
Thanks

That's not an error. A certain amount of RAM will always be reserved for the core system, thus there's no ROM that show all 512MB RAM.

That's normal on every rom, of the 512MB a portion of it is reserved to the Radio/Etc. Only 384 or so is usable by the OS itself. (ie: a Desire HD with 768MB of ram will have around 512+ for the OS itself).
wait, wait, wait. does the DZ has 500mb RAM?
512, but if you read the post above yours it explains how a portion of it isn't accessable to the os as it is reserved fro radio/bootloader/etc

yes, but just the fact itself is funny i think. 512MB ram from a thing from 2008...
As far as I know, Desire Z was launched in the States around November 2010... not 2008... by 2008 that would mean Desire Z was launched a year after the first iPhone...

I've heard of news that XAS is getting a Jellybean update this march. But would Sony skip to 4.2 or just 4.1. Sony has very slow OTA updates. Jellybean has been out for ages but there is still no official JB update.
Sent from my Xperia Acro S using xda premium
it will be 4.1 like the rest of the phones.
4.1, as Qualcomm didn't gave 4.2 sources for S3 processors.
The newest builds never make it to older devices. When the Nexus devices get a build no other devices get it and it has always been like that. Seeing as 4.2.2 just went out I would think it wont be long before manufacturers get more help with 4.2.1. As we all know it takes time to get it all right. The developers here and everywhere can afford to release a beta to us but for a big company like Sony to do that it would be suicide. They have to make sure it is right or we will hang them lol.

Yes it's 200mb+ free ram. What do you want with a more free ram? In Android, Free ram is a wasted RAM. Even if my phone (Acro S) has 200MB+ of free ram. My phone can still do what I want it to do. It doesn't lag at all. So don't be afraid of that free ram. There's a memory optimizer with in the system.
I was planning to buy an Acro S. Can anybody tell me if it is available in India??

Thank u for the reply. One doubt. If free ram is known as waste ram means y peoples using task killers to kill apps and free up ram?
From My SXS with XTX7 ROM
Using a Taskkiller is only usefull in one single situation, when a missbehaving App has to be killed.
By missbehaving I mean running wild.
Otherwise the memmorymanagement of Android is robust enough.

I don't think the available ram on acro s will be higher, because they have same cpu, same gpu and the same running system (4.0.4).
- sent from xperia s -
I think using task killer gives more harm than good unless in dire situation where ur apps are running crazy.
Android memory management will kill apps when it needs memory accordingly.
Regarding 4.2 Jelly Bean, I dont thnk Sony will do the leap as Samsung with Ace.
Acro S update
How about unofficial android 4.2 or CM10.1

I too am planning to buy the Acro S. It's available on ebay.in, u can get it there. Sony hasn't launched it in India, so u won't get manufacturer's warranty though. Some sellers on ebay are selling it with 1 year Servepro warranty, it's a third party warranty service, it's good. And u can also extend Servepro warranty when ur warranty expires. Take a look at the link below. (remove the dashes)

You can buy it online with seller's warranty

Hi,
If you are amazed at the Acro S (which I am) you can buy it online. There are many online shopping portals that have the sealed piece listed

The beef here is what's using the ram you have and how much you have in total. The xperia T jellybean update apparently bumps total available Ram to 800MB from 640 or so that XS has. More usable ram is always a good thing. Second issue here is that if firmware loads bloatware, it will always be hanging there fighting for resources. Booting stuff out of ram and reloading that browser from flash is always slower than having the browser stay in RAM the 1st place. Task killers are not that useful, true, but stopping some Facebook helper app you don't want from loading at all is.
if you wanna talk about buying an acro s please create another thread you're going off topic
anyways, i thought jb for acro s was scheduled for Q3 this year
No JB was scheduled for April.

I am a half noob as well, but my guess is: Your phone consists of a small Linux system, needing memory and a Android system (some kind of virtual machine like Java Virtual Machine), which also has most of the memory assigned.
Does that answer help?

I'm not completely sure but concluding from my actual knowledge in OS field - I will allow myself to say that a bit smaller amount of RAM is caused by Android OS itself. I mean it has many many MANY little apps ( little processes ) which are necessary to make Android stable.
My XPERIA M has 804 MB of RAM available for user.
In compparsion to X10 - she had 384 MB RAM at all but for user it left only about 150-210 MB depending from software in use.
I hope this answer was comprehensive. :good:
Thanks for answering it seems that most people have 804mb of ram I thought I was the only one
