Does anyone have anything positive or negative to say about the new Koni Elite Series III ROM........
I've never used it, but I've never heard anything bad about it.
Best thing to do is flash it and see.
I ran it for over a month. I loved it. Favorite sense rom by far to me. Just my preference. It was stable, fast, and great battery life. I've since moved on to aosp (cm7), but believe I still got the Koni III stored in my nandroid

Koni's Elite series is one of the top sense rom's. The only thing I didn't like was the boot animation. I'm just not really into guns or penguins.

was in my top 2 sense roms. Ran really well and never had any problems. I liked enough that my first ever donation was made to Koni. Basically, you won't be disappointed.
Also, you could have just flashed it and made up your mind...
Battery life isn't the greatest and also don't know if anyone tried this run the YouTube app hit HQ while watching anything and its still low quality no Sharp picture even if you redo YouTube install still looks like ****. Lol . I have used other roms no problem .
Still good Rom tho .
Decent rom, one of my favorites.

I've been running it since it was released with no problems and if you have bad battery life, click the link in my signature and do something about it
Thanks for all the responses........

Its not too bad. There's better.
I'd have to say that this rom has been pretty much been explained except for maybe the post above me. Since flashing this rom I have not bothered to run anything else. Koni is currently working on version 4 and him and his right hand people are very helpful in that thread. I think you'll like it.
Thanks to all.......I will check Konis thread...
Isn't it a good time to experiment with a new ROM when your phone starts slowing down, freezing, & occasionally misbehaving? Which is the most stable ROM in anyone's humble opinions? Thanks

I recommend DW for stability and especially battery life, but definitely try out slickmod if you are looking for topnotch UI performance

Dude roms dont get sluggish after time....it is what the user does. U make it sound like a car that your putting a lot of miles on then when it has to many miles u buy new car. Lol not like that it is definitely user related, why dont u go into recovery and clear cache and dalvik cache maybe that might help

Loving Malice with streamline.

Just use a launcher like ADW and your device will run smooth. Touchwiz is stable but Samsung put a half bake job on optimizing Touchwiz and Snapdragon CPU. If its slow check what apps are running when its slow sometimes too many widgets can easily drain battery and slow down your device.

I have ADW, my favorite. I do have a lot of widgets though. Maybe i'm just looking for an excuse to look for another, possibly better ROM.

What is "Malice" and "streamline"? Turns out my ADW was acting up I noticed after I reset it.

Had to clear that up.
I'm just interested in knowing what ROMs you guys are running, and why.
I'm not rooted yet (plan on doing that tomorrow)
but I'm looking for the most stable ROM with the best battery life.
With all of these threads and links, it's hard to keep up.
So I'm hoping to hear from the community.
I have no intentions of this thread turning into a "this ROM is better than X ROM because of Y Reason."
Just seeing what needs people have and the ROM(s) that fit those needs.
And I'm curious as to which one(s) have spectacular battery life!
Post away.

I came from a S2 which is how I learned to root. Its fun. Flashing is addictive... really. I change roms when ever one has something new and cool I just gotta try but I can truly say that JELLYBAM is the best I have used as of now.... though im always looking. If you get over the broken boot up imiage its the best I have used (not that I tried them all) I get like 20percent drain from a entire day of use
I am running ParanoidKANGdroid right now, going on closer to a week on it. I have tried CM10.1 nightlies and the newest AOKP, as well as task650's AOKP, but my favorite so far is this one. It has the most customization I've found, which I really love. My only complaints are that I don't like the camera, the "desk clock", and it's only 4.2.1. So far my favorite though

Im using Paranoidandroid, i felt like kangdroid was too bulky with too much extra stuff i didn't need/want. I like paranoid cause it seems pretty simple and smooth. But i have had some issues with random restarts, camera messing up, gallary messing up, and some other things i cant remember right now. I rooted for the first time like a week or so ago and i really like it. I just want more stability, best that i've used but im not satisfied. Plus the rom hasn't been touched since 11/21/12 so it could probably use some upgrades.
Anything is better than ATT stock JB, which sometimes drained in 20hrs.
Right now what im looking for though is a stock rom that has been stripped and streamlined. I have two things i need my phone for, Ustream/Livestream and taking pictures/video. Anything that is gonna crash unexpectedly or slow down because of so much extra junk is useless to me.

+1 I've researched almost all of the roms for our phone and i found that jellybam suits my needs. Plus i find that the mixture of ParanoidAndroid, AOKP, and Cyanogenmod is cool and makes for a lot of customization and features. It's a good rom pretty stable not much bugs or anything. And i'm also getting good battery life. I think the boot image should be fixed soon. But as with any rom it's all up to personal preference.
Battery life and stability are the two things I look for in a rom. 4.2.1 ROMs are the way to go unless you need Bluetooth streaming. Everything else has been near perfectly stable. Liquid smooth, tasks aokp, illusion and slimbean take your pick.

I am on Task650's 12/23/12 build because I use Bluetooth media streaming (mostly Audible) extensively throughout the day, in my car. The newest version of Task's ROM is nice and solid, but I can't live without BT audio.
I will commit to daily JB ROM flashing when that issue is cleared up.

Not completely sure. Not something that I use. I've read people are having problems with it. I'm sure the cyanogenmod team is working hard on it and will probably have it working in the next few weeks.
I'm torn.
I love the Touchwiz Features I get now.
(S Beam, S Voice, Smart Stay, etc)
But I want AOKP 4.2.
Ugh. What should I do?
Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 2
I enjoy touchwiz features too. They're not something I use everyday but I prefer being on 4.2. So many speed and battery life improvements.
Keep in mind you can usually find an app to replace touchwiz features. Like smart statusbar will allow you to show the status bar when in full screen mode.
Thanks for the input!
Do you know of any Touchwiz ROMs/kernels that drastically improve battery life?

Ive been using Task&Ktoonsez's Rom for quite a while now. hes always on top of getting things updated to the next version, and is really quick about getting bugs ironed out. if you look at the developer thread he can be a bit prickly, but his roms are great.
Hi guys, I absolutely mean no disrespect to any developer, but nearly any rom I've tried so far with the exception of bonestock and eclipse not only "feels" a little slower, but scores about half of what it would be if I was on the stock rom.
Is this merely a side effect of running a rom the phone is not made for? As more roms are polished is it possible to meet or exceed stock performance?
All the roms I've tried so far score about 6,000 to 7,000, while stock would get about 12,500, for example.
Again, absolutely no disrespect to any developers as all work very hard to give us the choices we have today. I'm merely curious, is all.
Thanks!

I wouldn't say that they are meaningless, but even so, I notice slight lag and a bit of a longer delay when opening and transitioning between apps, even before I have checked for benchmarks.

I used to be a benchmark junkie too until I realized that a few hundred or thousand points in benchmarks had little to no effect on my user experience with a ROM as a whole. Furthermore, benchmark scores can be inflated. You can max out your specs for benchmark purposes, but are you really going to be using all cores on max speed with performance governor throughout the day? My guess is, likely not.
In regards to transitions in ROMs, you can always mess with the developer settings to reduce the animation time for a quicker, smoother transition. I prefer the .5x setting, but your preferences may vary.
I prefer custom ROMs over stock for their levels of customization. Nothing better than to be able to tweak my phone to my own liking. Stock ROMs usually don't have the little extras that make Android a truly personal and enjoyable experience.
Overall, it comes down to what you prefer. For some, its a stock or close-to-stock interface with great performance. Others may prefer a more customized ROM that may or may not sacrifice performance and compatibility, but suits their needs better.
TL;DR User experience is more important than benchmark scores.

I believe a recent Anandtech article mentioned that manufacturers, check for specific benchmarking apps and then optimize their running to get inflated scores. Stock Android, Motorola, and Apple don't have those checks and their benchmarks can be "trusted".
Besides benchmarking scores, does the phone itself just feel a bit slower for any of you guys when running custom roms? Like when you scroll in settings or in a Web browser, or opening an app?
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using xda app-developers app

For Antutu it is a range of things but it's to show your phone/tablet's overall speed and performance. It tests CPU, ram, dalvik, GPU rendering, etc. It runs tests for each and gives you an overall score then shows you how your score stacks up to other devices. The scores posted are REALLY low which is why the user posted it. Although I think it would have been better if they were posted in the Vanir thread to be more easily seen by the devs.
I Never scored my phone while running vanir, but both times I ran It, It seemed much slower than other roms like carbon, liquid, ect. from recent.
