Yes these kernels are flashable from recovery. You need s-off to be able to do this. This is imo One of the biggest pro's of s-off, thanks MameThozio!

From the number of posts you have already made, I know that you didn't get to this topic with a Google search. Since you you should already know that you are in the android development forum, why not hit the back button in your web browser and look through the topic list for a title that includes s-off. Its a new topic and a very busy one.
Good luck

For the most custom ROMs you have to repack the kernel. However, on ViperX ROM there's no need to repack, just flash the boot.img for the kernel and install the modules in CWM.

Sweet so no repacks needed for viperx Rom just install the original custom kernels then? i.e faux123 kernal

Sorry another noob Question based off of this, but how do you know if a Rom needs a repacked kernal or not?

Yuo, no need for repack. Just download the ones from the official faux thread and you're ready to go!

If there are any ramdisk tweaks you need a repack. It's usually also stated in the OP if you need repack.

Hi guys, exist a Way for installat a dual boot on the One X?
Inviato dal mio HTC ONE X con Tapatalk 2
No not that i know of !
First we need S-OFF.
and second this is the wrong place to ask it ...pls if you ask something then in Q&A forum not here...or in threads which might be the right ...
There are a few kernels that work on almost all ROMs of a type.
For example, if you repack NCX with the ramdisk that MDeejay posted for the new hboot, that kernel will work on ALL AOSP ROMs.
But someone needs to figure out a way to incorporate dual booting with that...

RD-MIUI (AOSP) won't work on the new hboot :/
You can repack it yourself on nibble.cc/repack
You can get the ramdisk from the OP of the Offical CM10 thread

Hi all, i flashed my One X to CM 10.1 Nightly, but the battery drain is awfull. I tried to flash it with the franco kernel but that made my phone stuck in BOOT. I heard of a Semaphore kernel, but i cant find one for the One X only for the Nexus 4 and SIII.....any ideas anyone
Only use aosp based kernels, and kernels for JB roms......franco/faux kernels are for ICS based roms ! Not gonna work
Try XM kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136731
Yes xm kernel was the best for me in cm 10.1 roms with battery but with seadrsn rom

What does aosp based mean??
Senseless roms based on pure Google source.
aosp stands for android open source project. Mostly means that there is no HTC sense shell added
So when you are on CM10.1 you need the aosp version of the xm kernel if you wish to try that.

That will be the kernel modules or the boot.IMG you flashed.
I would suggest using the snapshot rather than nightly.

Which rom are you using? There is a MIUI v5 rom by iHackers in the development thread, it has all those options like other MIUI v5 roms as you mentioned. A few CM based roms have those options too.

It works with all kinds of roms even Ubuntu touch all you need to do is find repacked version of the Rom or repack it by yourself. Repacker is on the first page of dualboot thread. You can also ask sb to do it for you cause repacker only works under Linux. First of all you need to read because you can mess up your device if you don't know what you're doing.

I don't have linux either at the moment. I don't know if someone has already repacked this rom but you can search either in miui topic and dualboot one. You can also ask in those topics to repack it for you. Finally don't forget to hit "thanks" if I helped you.

To confirm, MIUI works fine on dual boot, I repacked one or two versions long time ago. In fact, afaik, all roms can work on bootmanager, repackaging is needed though.
I'd suggest that you ask if someone could repack you a recent version in BootManager thread, you will get more visibility than here. I don't have time these days to repack, but I'm sure someone will do it if you ask...
And if you have questions regarding bootmanager, don't hesitate to ask in the dev thread, it's easier to follow for me.

ExistenZ Ultra 1.0.0 as native
Hello,
I'd like to run the following system on my Xperia S:
native rom: ExistenZ Ultra 1.0.0 (thread here)
loop rom: letama's AOSP 4.3.1, for which he has already supplied the suitable .zip
As I'm running a linux 64bit box, I'd try to repack the ExistenZ myself, but I have some doubts this would work:
- Does the used kernel work within a native rom at all? I guess so, as it has been around now for some time.
- Would it work with the TX-Core Kernel 5.7? And how could this be done?
- In the 2nd post of the OP, there is given an instruction which includes flashing two images after each other with some fiddling in between - can this be packed as one flashable rom for the native partition at all?
And as this sounds rather tricky to me after all (never repacked a rom so far): Would anyone be willing to pack it for me?
Any hints on how and what to repack with the script would of course also be appreciated - Thanks in advance!
I'm new to ViperX.. been on CM for a while. I see that the sweep2wake is not supported by the kernel and only sweep2unlock is working. I guess Alex V kernel is the best to support this. But my other concern is battery life. Which kernel is best to support sweep2wake and also a better battery?
P.S. I've seen threads about s2w,, but not with battery+s2w.. hope I didn't violate the forum rules.. Please guide me..
Try the different Alex V kernels is my only advice. I hear that the 2.6rc is very stable. Ow and Alex V is the only one who supports this. There is no choice until kernel source is released
