I'm not a fan of the default calendar app and on previous phones used the Google Calendar. On this one I installed Google Calendar and placed its widget on the homescreen, but when I tap it to open the actual app it opens the HTC one. I can't clear the defaults or disable it to force it to let me pick Google Calendar. Even the debloat threads I've seen don't remove the stock Calendar... For now I'd like to stick with the stock rom, so is there any way to do this?

Have you tried titanium backup and freezing the calendar app?

I've installed the latest Incredibly Re-Engineered ROM on my rooted Incredible, but would like to regain use of HTC's Twitter apps & widgets, and the HTC News app & widget. The ROM disables these, but puts them in a directory on the SD card in case someone like me wants to re-enable them.
I've used Root Explorer to copy the following files from /sdcard/Incredibly_Re-Engineered_Optional/Apps to /system/app:
com.htc.NewsReaderWidget.apk
com.htc.TwitterWidget.apk
HtcTwitter.apk
NewsReader.apk
Then, I changed permissions on these files within /system/app to rw-r--r--, changed /system/app back to read only, and rebooted the phone.
After rebooting, I was able to enter my Twitter account information in Settings > Accounts & Sync > Twitter for HTC Sense, and my Twitter feed is now showing up in the FriendStream widget.
I can also launch Peep and News applications from the App tray.
However, when I try to add the HTC News Widget or the HTC Twitter Widget to my home screen, neither of these shows up in the list of widgets that are available to add (i.e., Long Press on Home Screen > Widget > Add Widget List). Neither the HTC Twitter widget nor the HTC News Reader widget show up, and thus, I cannot use them.
So, it's almost as if the Apps have installed properly, but the widgets have not.
Can you think of a solution or anything I might be missing here?? Thanks!!
Isn't there an optional apps folder with those things in it for users?

Yes...that's where I copied the items from. The problem is they're not showing up in my list of available widgets, even though the apps seem to have installed with no problem...it's just the widgets that I can't get to show up.
Are you using Launcher Pro or the launcher the ROM comes with?

I am using the launcher that comes with the ROM.
No other ideas??
To clear the remnants of the widgets after removing them, I know you need to "Clear Data" for HTC Sense ("Applications" in Settings).
Perhaps if you do this again it will force a rebuild of the available widgets list, now that they've been reinstalled?
(You will lose any custom scenes, btw)

THANK YOU!! That solved the problem!! Cheers.
Hi,
I have installed me another calendar app (aCalendar). When i get notifications in the topbar my phone uses the build in calendar. How can i avoid this and use aCalender?
Thanks
Ateshga
You mean you're getting both default calendar and aCalendar notifications at the same time?
Go into the default Calendar app and select the account it's synced too and uncheck the sync box. Then it'll stop notifying you because it won't be synced to new events.
You need to clear defaults for the gmail app. then you can select which app to do the action you want next time you click it.

Doesnt work here.
Is my calender app perhaps the problem? It uses the build in calendar so it might not handle the notifications...
Am i correct? Dont i have to use another app? Which one do you use?
Thanks in advance
@martonikaj no i just get the googlecalendar notification. Sorry overread your question in first place...
Bye
Hi
It doesnt work till today. I tried several calendars now (jorte, quick and lately business calendar) The problem remains The Same: when i pull down Thema notification bar where The event notification pops up and select the event The phone jumps in the Google calendar.
Is this an ICS problem?
What am i doing wrong?
Please help.
Thx
Ateshga
Whichever app is providing the notification will open when you click. You need to set up notification with your desired app and disable notification in the unwanted app - of course, having said that, I'm not sure those options are available, so it may just be easier to freeze the undesired app instead...
Hi i now found my failure: i got what i paid for. Free apps mostly dont support notifications.
I now bought an app (business calendar) and all is fine now.
Seems i have to learn a bit more about the android world.
Thx for the help i got ...
A.
I started using Business Calendar. I removed notifications for the default calendar, but I forgot to remove sync. The notification bar would never clear, now I think I know why. Thanks martonikaj.
Gonna need some experts help here.
I have UCCW track my gmail on my homescreen.
I decided to play with the invert gmail mod to make my gmail black. So I backed up gmail on titanium backup. UCCW was unable to track gmail after I did the invert. Tried to restore back to the backed up gmail but TB hangs at restoring gmail 4.1.2...
So downloaded gmail from google play and now UCCW won't show the amount of mail I have on my homescreen. It's reading ---.
Is UCCW somehow tied to the original gmail I had so now it won't track the new one I downloaded?

Gmail problem
This is the only post i could find on Gmail, Im having a problem.
When i add the Gmail object, select my account and label, all it shows is a "0"...
Ive cleared the cahes on both apps, but still no luck in getting it to work...any ideas?
I'm having this problem too!
Edit: Nvm. Fixed it.
Just kidding.
After upgrading from Cyanogenmod 7 to 9, the gmail portion of my UCCW widget would only display ---
I couldn't get rid of it so I simply uninstalled and reinstalled the UCCW app and that seemed to have fixed it. Hopefully this helps someone else.
I have two Google accounts on my phone right now. One is my primary gmail account that I use for everything, and the other is for school emails and everything related to academic work.
What I did this semester is I put my schedule in my school gmail account, instead of in my regular account like I had been. I'd like to know if there is a way to pick different accounts and display the two accounts on two separate widgets. I'd prefer to use the stock android widget as that has never given me issues although I realize I can always download a Calendar app and have this problem solved. However it would be nice to not have to download anything and keep the way my home screens look uniform. It would also be nice because the stock calendar widget has a native lock screen widget that looks and works really well.
Basically, is there a setting in the stock calendar widget to select just one gmail account per widget? Or should I just download a calendar widget from the Play Store and do things that way?

Running CM10.1.2, I noticed that the calendar on it (jenkins), is not as up to date as the Google calendar app. I tried installing the Google one, but (1) the installed name was some random hexadecimal string and, (2) more importantly, caused significant problems with everything.
Can we replace the CM calendar or will it be updated with the new features from the Google calendar?
Replace the cm calendar. I just disable it in app settings and install the play store version. I've never had any of the problems you described, but you might try rebooting, reinstalling the app, and clearing calendar app cache and calender storage data

Disabling the CM calendar got rid of the significant problems, but the name still shows as "#ff000000" in the App Drawer. Plus some of the settings text are either "#ffdddddd" or "#ffeeeeee". Functionality is fine though, so I guess I'll keep it! Thanks!
Edit: Well, it got rid of some problems....
Those odd names are hexadecimal codes, and they look like colors. For instance, #ff000000 is solid black. I think you have a very odd issue, maybe a third party launcher like nova that lets you custom name apps? You may be in for a clean ROM install...

Not sure why it thinks it should display a color instead of regular text. I'm pretty much using stock CM10.1.2 with no significant customizations.
After trying to reply yes to an calendar event from gmail, it FCed.
uninstall cm callender with titanium backup, reboot phone, download google calender from play store.
