Q how to use a different calendar when tapping on notifications - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi,
I have installed me another calendar app (aCalendar). When i get notifications in the topbar my phone uses the build in calendar. How can i avoid this and use aCalender?
Thanks
Ateshga

You mean you're getting both default calendar and aCalendar notifications at the same time?
Go into the default Calendar app and select the account it's synced too and uncheck the sync box. Then it'll stop notifying you because it won't be synced to new events.

You need to clear defaults for the gmail app. then you can select which app to do the action you want next time you click it.

Doesnt work here.
Is my calender app perhaps the problem? It uses the build in calendar so it might not handle the notifications...
Am i correct? Dont i have to use another app? Which one do you use?
Thanks in advance

@martonikaj no i just get the googlecalendar notification. Sorry overread your question in first place...
Bye

Hi
It doesnt work till today. I tried several calendars now (jorte, quick and lately business calendar) The problem remains The Same: when i pull down Thema notification bar where The event notification pops up and select the event The phone jumps in the Google calendar.
Is this an ICS problem?
What am i doing wrong?
Please help.
Thx
Ateshga

Whichever app is providing the notification will open when you click. You need to set up notification with your desired app and disable notification in the unwanted app - of course, having said that, I'm not sure those options are available, so it may just be easier to freeze the undesired app instead...

Hi i now found my failure: i got what i paid for. Free apps mostly dont support notifications.
I now bought an app (business calendar) and all is fine now.
Seems i have to learn a bit more about the android world.
Thx for the help i got ...
A.

I started using Business Calendar. I removed notifications for the default calendar, but I forgot to remove sync. The notification bar would never clear, now I think I know why. Thanks martonikaj.

[Q] How to set Handcent as default Msg App?

At first, i have some weird problems selecting Handcent as default messaging App at my Desire. (LeeDrOiD 2.3d and Stock RUU)
I have a Widget installed (SMS Unread Count) which displays my unread SMS on my Homescreen. In the Q&A of that Widget it says that if more than one messaging app is installed, it will ask me which one to use when i tap on the widget.
But that doesn't happen, it always starts the stock msg app.
Here's what i've done so far:
- Contacts -> Choose One -> Send SMS -> Set default dialog appears -> Set Handcent as default.
This works only if i'm in Contacs and select to send a SMS via Contacts App. Widget still launches stock msg app.
- Set notifications for both msg apps. As i received one, i got double notifications as intended. I selected the stock notification -> Set default dialog appears -> Set Handcent as default.
Works for Notifications, Handcent will get startet. Widget still launches stock msg app.
No i'm really confused and got no more idea what to do. As i tried another ROM without Sense (GingerVillain), all i had to do there was to tap the Widget and i was asked which msg app to start.
But that doesn't work on Sense ... please help me, this is really frustrating.
I guess just delete the stock message apk? It'll be / system/app/messaging.apk or something like that just adb or terminal on the phone need advise just pm me

Sorry had to add the UN to selected... sorry for the wait.

Works fine with my LeeDroid 2.3d
Un-select all.

Never mind, i figured it out what you wanted to say But that only disables double notification, which is not the problem. (i know ho to disable this)
The whole case is all about the fact that on Sense Roms the "SMS Unread Count" Widget won't launch the "set default app" dialog so i'm unable to choose which app should be default or not.
On other Roms, e.g. GingerVillain (No Sense) the set default dialog window appears as intended.
But i want that also on Sense

Why not just use the Handcent unread SMS widget? I use it and it's sweet.
I have just disabled everything else within the stock app - notifications etc - and replaced all the icons on my home screen and slide dock (Zeam Launcher) with either the handcent 1x1 widget or the handcent icon (can't have widget on the sliding dock)
If you use the Handcent 1x1 widget, you're guaranteed that it'll start Handcent every time!

Because SMS Unread Count is also able to be configured as an Unread Mail Widget and i want both Widgets to use the same Design. The Handcent SMS Widget isn't configurable and doesn't fit my personal desire.
Thats why i use this
Will bump this since I also have the exact same problem.
Any solution? Same issue running incredibly re-engineered.
Can't you just turn off notification in the messages app? That would make it appear like the default. You could also root and remove the default messages app.

As long as you have the app on your phone mem should be ok ... do not put it on your SD card !!...
No, to both of the guys above me. App is in phone storage, and its not the notifications that are the issue.
SMS Unread count gives me no option to launch the app of choice. It launches the stock messaging app, and all defaults have been cleared in 'manage apps'
Sorry, i didnt notice you were asking about the SMS unread count. I dont use that so i cant say how it works.
Have you tried:
Settings --> Applications --> Select "Stock messaging" app --> "Clear Defaults"
This will remove the Stock Messaging app as the default app for all chosen situations, if there are any. If there aren't, the button is greyed out and isn't the problem.

Tried that. Did not work.

it can be done in one click without using any command..!!

[Q] [APP REQUEST] Gmail Notifications

Hey Guys and Gals of XDA,
Kinda wondering if anyone has come across an app that will change how android handles when we get a new gmail email.
Currently when you get a new email you get a notification in the drawer.. Im looking for an app to change that. I dont want any notification in the drawer. I just want an unread email number to show up on the icon on the home screen. SMS message app does this when you get a new message.
If anyone has any known apps or wants to develop one id be full game..
Thanks
That is not possible for the time being. It used to be, but then GMail removed the API that allowed this (for security reasons)
http://www.launcherpro.com/2011/07/09/upcoming-changes-to-gmail-app/
We will have to wait until GMail offers this through some other type of functionality.

Use the plug in for Go Launcher (Go Notifications), of course, implies that you have to use Go Launcher, but it's a very good launcher.

The same problem I mention affects Go Launcher too (as well as any other apps that used to provide unread count)
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gau.golauncherex.notification&hl=en
-------Important--------
The Gmail app has updated to new version and the API we uses to access your Gmail in our Notification app is being removed in Gmail.
We will continue support Gmail notification if your Gmail app doesn’t update to the newest version. But once your Gmail is updated, the notification option will be removed from GO Launcher.

So, this is a gmail thing, don't upgrade to the latest version or downgrade to the previous version. I haven't upgraded to the latest version, my notifications show up.

[bug] Calendar reminders working ok? [kinda fixed]

I set the reminder to either notifincation bar or alarm and neither one actually works.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
EDIT:
See post #6 for the fixings.
Same problem here. This is killing me as I use this function constantly. I am not getting notified on gmail calendar or exchange calendar.

Setting up calendar events actually works. I just tested it - a popup does occur in desktop calendar when I set it through the phone.
But absolutely nothing happens on the phone itself.
Is it like that for you too?
Yep, same thing here.
Does anyone know of any widget style calendar app which can force notification/alert for upcoming calendar events independently from the built-in android version (which obviously doesn't work on this phone)?
I started using the free Calendar Snooze from the market on my Evo, mainly because the Evo didn't have (or I couldn't find) a built in snooze, and it works well on the E4GT too. It's very configurable, gives a full screen notification, and will even use text to voice, if you want it to.

Thanks, I am trying it now.
Calendar Snooze works just like I want.
Perfect.
I just asked in IRC, and people said their alerts were working just fine.
I wonder if it's a common app me and gfsnic have...
Right now, I can only think of one calendar related app I have installed - Simple Calendar Widget...
Works fine for me. But the alerts I use were set up within the calendar app on the phone. Are you guys setting the alerts on the web?

[Q] cant get rid of facebook calendar in lockscreen

Hi.
I have setup my lockscreen to show the Productivity Screen.
My agenda is set up to only show my gmail agenda.
Still I only get Facebook notifications shown on lockscreen.
What am I doing wrong here?
grtz,
Twan
nobody?? really??
yes, this is a bumperpost.
Hi,
i am on 1.29 FW and the problem still exists. You can choose the calendars you want to see, but i think HTC forgets to check these settings when showing the entries on the screen.
I hope they fix this in a upcoming FW
I've only just started using this setting so I've not had any Facebook events appear yet but I noticed when you click on a calendar event it takes you to the HTC calendar app where it showed the Facebook calendar. I have unselected it in there and will see how I get on
I have set up mycalendars to not show any Facebook events. It keeps puzzling me.
grtz, Twan
I think is a bug,the only way you can remove the facebook calendar is to go into settings>accounts and remove the facebook account..
I disabled the Facebook calendar sync (settings-accounts-facebook-calendarsync) can't check yet; as there are still some items today.... w'll see....
grtz, Twan
neither the sw upgrade to 29.401.11 nor the setting mentioned in the previous post solves this.
You can swipe through your today calender items on the lockscreen (left + right).
I have this problem too, is it definitely a bug? does anyone know if its fixed in any of the custom ROMs?
I've had this issue since day 1 on my HOX, its made me stop using the Productivity lockscreen unfortunately.
Hope its fixed soon
I've just noticed this too - very annoying! Is there no fix for this then and if not has anyone raised a case ticket with HTC?

Aha! Resolved. Go to Personalize > Lock Screen Style > Settings and at the bottom you can choose which calendars & subsequently their notifications appear on the locked screen.

Hi Gulioth.
Have you actually read the reason for this topic?
The HOX just does not "disable" the FB calendar after you deselect it.
It keeps showing the FB calendar.

[Q] New mails don't appear in the Lock Screen

Hi. I am very satisfied with my HTC ONE X. There is just one thing bothering me: It seems to be impossible to display the new arriving mails on my Lock Screen (Productivity). Missed calls, new text messages and my calendar events are no problem, but there is now way to get the new mails on that screen. The settings are correct, but I still don't unsterstand why it doesn't work....
Waiting for HTC support is like hoping for Jesus to appear in front of you ...
By the way, I am using the official Gmail App for my mailing. I also read in another forum that the HTC guys are not to blame: The problem would be coming from Google...
So, what shall I do, did I miss something ?
Does anyone have an idea to help me out, would be highly appreciated !

Are you using a third party launcher? I have found that the Rosie launcher needs to be running in memory for the mail notification to update on the lock screen. It doesn't however have to be your primary launcher. Just create a shortcut to it and launch it whenever the notification icons stop updating. I haven't taken the time to figure out if Android kills the launcher from memory or not during use.
If you go to settings > personalise > lock screen style then go to the productivity option and select settings if you go to the 'display mail from' option it will only allow you to select the accounts you have in the default mail app.
This is slightly odd though as the calendar display options allow you to display calendar items from many more sources that you have already configured (Facebook, Google etc.)
Just for clarification, I have a fully stock HOX.
Thank you for your replies guys. It has strictly nothing to do with thirdpard launchers, or with the settings. It simply doesn't work because it is not the default mail program I am using. Sad but true...
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I recently figured that out as well it won't show official Gmail app emails, you need to configure your gmail account into HTCs mail app which is not too bad for Gmail saying that.
