my htc s621 is randomly turning off on itself. i notice it does this either when it is feeling warm, or when im outside and the weather is a little chilli. i thought it might be a battery problem but i dont want to waste the money buying a battery if its not going to solve my problem. anyone encounter something like this before? any help or advice would be much appreciated. thank you.
had same issue a while ago. i solved it with a new battery...
you can check if your battery is bloated by making it spin on a flat table. if the battery keeps spinning, then it means you likely need to get a new one...
Probably the battery. I'm still managing with my original battery but I talk and text very little. When I put it under a heavy load like browsing, it shuts down. Doesn't do it when it's plugged into AC.

Hey all. I now have an imported Galaxy Nexus that won't turn on, here's what happened...
I bought the phone back in April and haven't had a single problem with it until now. On this past Monday I woke up, got ready for work and unplugged my fully charged GNex from my wall charger as I do every morning. On my way to work I popped my GNex into the Samsung car dock to listen to music as I do every morning. When I got to work I popped out my GNex from the dock and sat at my desk for a while. I went to check something on my phone and it felt kinda hot, I thought nothing of it and kept working. Maybe 10 minutes later I checked if it was still hot and it was, uncomfortably hot, and the battery was at like 40% (this was about 40 minutes after I took it out of the car dock).
This made me think that by some chance a program was running crazy in the background, so I restarted my phone. Booted back up, plugged it into a wall charger I have at my desk, and let it sit for about 10 minutes. I then picked it back up and it was still burning hot, now I shut it down again, unplugged it, and pulled the battery out until it cooled down (about another 10 minutes).
Now I popped the battery back in and booted it up. Starts to get hot again and now the battery is at 4%. At this point I think "WTF..." and turn the phone off and let it sit there with the battery in. Keep it in there until the battery completely discharges (the phone isn't hot anymore) thinking that maybe it's having trouble reading the battery stats idk no big deal right? Turns out no, very big deal.
Let it sit there for an hour with no battery in it, then plugged it in and tried to power it on. Nothing. Pulled the battery, popped it back in, and let it sit with the charger in it for 30 minutes. Nothing. The phone isn't getting hot at this point like it was. So I try all the button combinations with the volume buttons and power buttons and still nothing. Even when I plug the phone in the charging battery animation doesn't show up.
When I leave it plugged into the wall charger now, the phone gets a little warm as you'd expect when you charge your phone, not hot like before. I took the phone apart and saw nothing wrong with it, but then again I'm not a hardware guy so I took it to a phone repair shop. He took a look at it and couldn't find anything weird with it either (besides it doesn't work).
In this mess I tried to contact Samsung and take advantage of my "International" warranty but no dice as I'm sure most of you know (this is my $450 lesson). Samsung USA said they won't even fix it if I pay them, I have to do it through Samsung UK which is a nightmare.
The last kick to floor was seeing my credit card charged for the desk dock that I ordered a week before the day this happened. I've ordered a new battery on the off chance that maybe that's the problem, if not I'll be buying another GNex with a US Warranty from the Play Store.
Any bits of hope anyone has for me? Is it even worth my while to ship it off to another phone repair store that says they can "fix it no problem"? Sorry for the long post, everyone always says to post as much detail as possible so I did!! lol. Thanks for reading!!
In the same boat, my Nexus just died today. It is completely unresponsive. Plugging the phone into the computer with no battery will not display any OMAP hardware.
hmm I'm wondering now what is the reason? is it 4.0.4 update? my phone is getting warm after the update too, and the cpu consumes 30% power. but its not too hot, only one area, on the virtual SD card area.
where did you order your GN from? depending on which website... they may "fulfill" your warranty if you're within their warranty time frame.

Off an Amazon retailer, I already checked and they said no :-( I should be getting this battery soon, hopefully that fixes it. I highly doubt it though.
Good news, the website I got mine from(Dailysteals) is willing to do an exchange or refund for me. Surprisingly, I didn't even have to go through a lot of trouble for them to issue an RMA for me. I just had to explain my situation with them about Samsung USA/UK unwillingly to repair the phone.

Mine just bit the dust today as well. Just contacted Handtec and hoping they'll warranty it. It was running just fine up until today and now ODIN won't write to NAND. The same thing that happened in this thread is what happened to my phone:

Good luck, they probably updated the warranty thing after the March sale because of the confusion with the warranty status.

Absolutely. I replaced the batter with the official Samsung extended 200mAh and it turned on, funny thing is though that the same thing is happening again...it still turns on but it's getting super hot and draining almost instantly. The phone shows that it's plugged into power but it says under the battery option that the device is not charging, weird. This is what it shows my battery stats as:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0ByadaWWGExhWMjRTUUhQOHdXZnc
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0ByadaWWGExhWbFNiR0NSTkJGcUE
The first death drop in charge is when this all started, the second one is what's happening now. It seems to be charging okay now via PC USB which doesn't make sense to me, cause I tried my wall charger and my car charger earlier and it got super hot and said it wasn't charging.
My phone is getting hot right around the area of the "Texas Instruments TWL6030 Fully Integrated Power Management with Switch Mode Charger" as seen here:
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsung-Galaxy-Nexus-Teardown/7182/2
I'm gonna poke around with a couple things that I found on the net and hopefully resolve it, hopefully it can be fixed with software tweaks!!! Here's some stuff that I found:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=22878
http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/mobile/RahZtFg39DU
Try asking Google ( if you haven't already ). They maybe able to tell you a more detailed reason, and may help resolve it. Never know and Gl

I see. So your phone is draining the battery and not charging at all. Have you considered doing a factory reset? Maybe invest in a battery charger for the time being until the phone starts to charge the phone properly.
Oh, just a follow up on my situation. My NAND is still broken beyond repair. Tried ODIN, OMAP flash, different USB cables, drivers and nothing will write to the NAND. I contacted Handtec and they told me to RMA it to them. So I'm gonna be doing that some time this week. They want original box and everything that came with the phone so I'm trying to gather all of that before I ship it to them. Hopefully the turn around will be quick cause this Galaxy S (which also had a NAND hardware failure and repaired once by Samsung then failed again) is getting old quick.
Hello all,
I was wondering if anybody here has purchased and used this accessory:
http://www.amazon.com/Warranty-Zero...ck-kickstand/dp/B00IMOCZOA/ref=cm_wl_huc_item
It is a 3500mAh battery that sits in a shock resistant case. What have you experienced with it? How is the audio quality? How long does it last for you and what type of user are you (power, average, heavy data, ect.).
Thanks in advance for the input.
I can't speak to this exact one, but the quality of their batteries are good.
I had the big giant one for my old galaxy nexus. It still is going strong to this day with that battery pack, over a year when I stopped using it daily.

It more than doubles your battery capacity, so I would say it should last you at least twice as long as it normally does.
I got my S6 Edge brand new around 3 weeks ago, and all was well with it. But for the past week my phone has been acting up. It has been overheating, being very slow, loosing signal very frequently and the battery has been dying very quickly. 3 days ago, I made an appointment with T-mobile (the place I got the phone at) to have them look at it, and likely send it back to Samsung under the 1 year warranty. This appointment was supposed to be tomorrow.
This is where the main problem arose. Last night, i plugged my phone in to charge on my desk, and then fell asleep. When I woke up this morning, it was still where I left it. I went to pick it up, and it was blazing hot so I quickly unplugged it. I then left the room for a minute, and when I came back i looked closer at the phone and the screen was cracked! The phone has never been dropped, and the aluminium around the screen is in perfect condition.
Could the screen have cracked due to the temperature? Will T-Mobile still take it back without having to pay the $175 deductible? What should I do?
Thank you,
Michaek

Sucks to read what happened to your screen man! Specially after being with the phone for such a short time. In my personal experience with warranties and service providers, they will more than likely classify the issue as physical damage. Although you didn't drop the phone or have any noticeable point of impact on the body, they will still argue that the screen is cracked.
Your best bet would be to take it to Samsung (They are after all the manufacturer and the warranty is provided by them, not by T-Mobile) and hopefully can talk some sense into the rep. Most of the times when a new flagship device is out, manufacturers like to "capture" probable units that could pose safety risks or a more wide spread problem.
Hope this helps!

Samsung asked me to send in the device for inspection. They said that it will either A. be fixed for free or replaced due to factory issues, or B. Charge me for a full repair.
Will definitely keep you updated when they call me after inspecting the device.

Would be interesting to know if you had a battery failure, where the battery overheated swelled and expanded so much that it blew up causing the screen to crack from the inside.

The thing didn't seem to be expanded. It still turned on, but the battery would drain quickly. Tested it today and got a few hours on the battery. I feel like the battery has been malfunctioning and that it could have caused it, but I dont think that the battery blew.
Sadly the pictures that I took were with an old phone so you cant see much. I would take more but it is already on its way to Texas. :/

They haven't told me anything besides a "operating system issue" that caused the damage. This could mean anything in my book. A battery problem is likely the issues since the battery has been giving me issues since I got it. At least now it will be repaired, hopefully nothing else goes wrong with the device now.
After using an old RAZR HD I really miss my S6
Just got another phone call from Samsung saying it will NOT being covered. They are taking a second look at it, but where it seems, I might have to file a claim with them to get it sorted out.

Has anybody personally found a good replacement internal battery that has full, or close to full charge capacity? Before anybody says it, I have replaced phone batteries before and have no issues with the risk and disassembly aspect of replacing the battery. I want to install a new one because my current battery dies so quickly anymore, but everywhere I look I only find ones with terrible user reviews. Can anybody point me in the direction of a better quality option?

No I ended up using the slightly-less-than-terrible verizon trade in offer on an s10. I got the plus because of the 4ah battery specifically although im already remember how much samsung's UI's blow compared to regular android... But if I had gotten one I would probably just get one directly from ifixit after reading some of the user feedback. Seems like they are mostly better received than amazon and ebay options.
I purchased a battery from the below eBay seller.

It's a genuine battery from what I can tell and came in a clear plastic case. It's dated 2019/01/16, so very recent. I'll be installing it tomorrow.

Logos are marked out to do with customs, in many of countries they do not allow the importation of counterfeit products under copyright law, marking out the company logo bypasses this. Obviously if the actual OEM is selling their own batteries then this does not need to be done.
Any updates on battery life? I am looking to buy from the same seller for my Pixel XL.

Sorry for the late reply.
It was defective, it lasted a week before it would no longer hold a charge. It looked genuine, but I didn't want to deal with a replacement, so I ended up getting a refund, and going with ifixit for a replacement battery instead. I'm guessing I just received a lemon, the seller was solid with the refund.

Expensive at $25, but it's been solid ever since. Holds a charge very well. I purchased the kit, since I can see myself reusing the tools in the future.
It matches the original bloated battery I took out the first time. It seems to be genuine OEM, the HTC logo on the battery is covered up by a black marker which you can remove with alcohol. You can even make it out a bit in their photos.

Since Google decided to extend support for the OG Pixel/XL with Android 10, they left me little reason to upgrade to 4. They would have to come in at $700 (not going to happen) or less for me to upgrade, or else I'm staying put until next year's 5. There is also the "possible" Pixel 4a/XL to look forward to in 6 months.
I had to buy mine used to replace my OnePlus 5 that had a saltwater accident after 2 years of use. The used eBay pixel XL I bought seemed like it hadn't been used in well over a year based on the software update status. It was also on the beta program so it was probably an enthusiast who bought new and used it a few months and switched to something else throwing it in a drawer. Battery still seems as good as they were new, after months of me using it. Still not as good as the OnePlus 5 and doesn't charge fast but it's still a good phone. Camera is close to as good as anything out there. UI had more lag than the op5 but seems smoother in scrolling and general usage.
Hi,on my pixel XL my USB preferences stopped working and is stuck on charge. After trying different chargers and cables, my phone will only charge using a USB-A to USB-C. When I plug phone into PC, it will only charge, can't change it from charge. I was wondering if someone has had a similar problem. If so, did changing the battery fix this problem or has anyone changed the USB daughter board and that fixed the problem. If anyone knows of a fix for my problem. Thank you.

sounds like either firmware or port to me but someone else may be able to correct me. have you also tried on a different computer? could be the ports on there.

Yes, I have tried on a different computer, did work there either. What it feels like, my USB preferences are not on my pixel XL anymore. Like they got wiped off my phone. Thanks
