Note II SD question - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there again! I just wanted to know if there is any special requirements for sd cards for use in note 2? I mean can I use any kind of micro sd card, old ones? few days ago I posted a question about my note 2s screen going black... I sent it for repair but the guy told me after some days that he turned the phone on and after 2 or 3 days and there were no problems...that maybe the sd card I was using cold be the problem... it is a 4gb micro sd card and actually its workin fine in my other phone...xperia mini pro...
Thanks in advance if someone could confirm this!!

Class 10 and any card class 10 that's compatible with new phones have fun

No theres not any special requirement for a micro sd card for note 2.Even a class 4 would suffice.Although to get better performance you can go for class 6 and up.
I have also used a card that I used for my nokia n81 and nokia 5800 4-5 years back and it was a class 4 card.

Is a class 4 sd card enough for the note 2?

Hello people I'v3 got a 32 go class 4 sd card and im wondering if it's good enough for my note 2 or should I get an sd card from the upper class 6 or 10 ?

am having a 32 gig class 4, works fine for me for playing videos / songs / pdf etc.
thats the most external cards can do in note 2 so it will be wise to save few bucks unless you are bothered by transfer speeds.
if you already have the class 4, just use it until you feel its not enough anymore. no need to buy class 6 or 10 until you have to (for example if you want to put big games into that sdcard using app2sd).
And what about the app 2 st card will it be enough with a class 4?

My Note II keeps remounting SD Card

Hi
Sometimes when I turn on the screen I notice the SD Card symbol is "ON" in the notification bar. Is it because my Note II keeps remounting the SD Card and thus rescanning the SD Card?
Why does it keep doing this?
I have my songs all stored on the SD Card and because it keeps remounting it, the songs do not stay in the playlist!
How do I keep the SD Card permanently mounted?
My Note II is running stock ROM.

Hi, have you tried removing the SD card anfd inserting it back in? I had the same problem with my Sensation XE before and sfter a couple of in and out, it finally worked.

Nope... plugged and unplugged by SD Card a number of times and still the SD card gets rescanned.
Can't keep my songs on SD Card in my playlists.
Does any one else experience this at all? Am I the only one experiencing this?
I have the same issue. Till now, not able to find a solution. Planning to send it back for warranty claim!

This is a warning that your sd card may soon be destroyed. It afflicts s3 and note 2. just backup your data. For more info search the thread- "s3 the sd card destroyer"

I had a 32gig scandisk class 10 and it kept re mounting every so often... also sometimes my pictures wouldn't show up in gallery. Tonight I bought a Samsung 32 gig class 6 and all is well.
I believe it was the stupid scandisk that didn't want work properly. Hope this helps!!!
Had the same problem, my supplier gave me a new card, problem solved
the same with a 32gb sandisk class10, after ~2 moths of use without a problem.
Amazon gave me back the money and my old 4gb card is working fine.
I had encountered the same issue with my n7000 and my s3. Your SD card is on the way out. Try to format it first but it that doesn't work your best course of action is to replace.
Guess what? My 32GB Class 4 SanDisk went all flaky a couple of days ago. I got an error message saying that the SD cannot be read and to reformat it.
Absolutely not! All my new pictures and songs are all being stored on the SD card!
I rebooted my phone and it could read the ca4d again but it's no longer stable.
Sigh
Why do we have this problem with the Note II?

The memory cards have been a problem.
It was sexy for a couple of weeks but when I was to go for a holiday, it messed up bad.

I've experienced the same issue once on my Note 2 with a Sandisk 32Gb card.
My 32GB class 4 Sandisk microSD card that I thought was working well finally died. I tried reformatting it and it worked for a little while more but finally died and could not even be reformated.
What can we do about the Note II propensity to kill microSD cards?
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
Damn, I really hope it's not the Note 2 that's killing cards. I just sent back my 64gb SanDisk card which died after about 4 months of use. So while I'm waiting for a replacement, I have a 32gb cards in the way.
In over ten years of using removable flash storage I've never had a card die in me and I've had at least 15 different CF, SD and micro sd cards. Why does this "high end" sandisk card have so many issues on modern devices?
Sent from my Galaxy Note 2 using Tapatalk 2
My 8gb class 4 Kingston card also died while being used on my Note 2. Was previously using the same card on s2 and s3 too. I'm hoping with all these reported cases of sd cards dying, correlation doesn't equal causation! I'll nevertheless get a Samsung sd card for replacement. Hoping samsung cards should theoretically work better on samsung phones. Haha
I have got same problem on my 32 GB class 10 memory card and got it replaced.though I got a brand new sd card but still confused o using it.... wheyher I shuld use it or get it change with samsung 32gb class.any advice would be great

Note II vs SD Cards, why it ruins it !!!

I read a lot about people who got Note II and it ruined their sd cards, i did not think it will happen to me but it just did, 16GB Patriot SD Card got broken it was acting weird the last two days, now I have 32GB on its way to me.
Haven't had that problem.

Why you are buying such crap like 'Patriots' cards?
Buy SanDisk cards.
I have 32GB SanDisk micro SDHC ultra card and have no problem at all.

+1 SanDisk ultra disk. ..32 gb... not even a flicker of issue
scribbled from my note 2 (N7100)
backup all data from memory card via previous phone.
then format it twice.
Thanks guy for the advice, 32GB san disk is what I bought

My laptop and Xperia arc doesn't recognise the sd card anymore

Try to leave the card in the phone and use a cable instead. The more you handle the card the greater the risk of ruining it. It's not Note2 specific... the same goes for all phones.

Go for a samsung card instead, a lot of sandisks are dying in Note 2's after about 3 months.

Do you have any data to back up your claim? Or is this your personal observation, if so where and how did you base your observation?
I have had no problems with SanDisk sdcards; in fact, from what I understand, SanDisk is the industry standard. I have had more than a few sdcards and SanDisk has been the most reliable over the years. Just my observation.
I've had the same scan disc ultra class 10 since I got my note 1 and it's held up great. I also have a Samsung class 10 and it's held up great too.

I can back this up... my SanDisk 64GB UHS-1 MicroSDXC died right at about 3 months. Writing to it/formatting it even on a PC caused it to get so hot it was painful to the touch. The good news is that SanDisk has excellent customer service and my new replacement is arriving UPS today.
Because of this, I've also bought a 64GB Samsung class 10 UHS-1 MicroSDXC and will be using it in my phone as my daily driver. I'll put the SanDisk in my GoPro or something else.
** EDIT ** I just wanted to add that I own a LOT of SanDisk microSD cards 32GB and smaller, and they have never given me a bit of problem. It's only the 64GB specifically that lots of people seem to have trouble with (based on my experience and Amazon reviews).
I just bought a SanDisk MicroSDXC 64gb and I've used it for a few days. It seems to be working fine at the moment, but if anything changes or if a issue arises, I'll post it here.
I formatted it to FAT32, instead of just leaving it as EXTFAT (look for a Fat32 converter on google). I've also transferred around 10gb or data to it on one go, and it seems to be holding up.
I very much hope that it doesn't die on me, but I have also read that people may have issues. Best thing to do is to back up your stuff every now and then.

If you haven't bought a card yet, buy the Samsung Class 10 card. It seems the speed is almost twice as fast as the SanDisk Class 10. I am using the SanDisk 64gb class 10 now and I wish I would have gotten the Samsung instead because of the huge speed difference.

You guys do all know that sandisk buys there memory from samsung there using last years technology while Samsung sd sds are this year thus why the Samsungs are twice as fast

Note 2 kills 32gb cards?!

Hey guys I have a note 2 and I was wondering I had a 32gb SanDisk class 4 card that I used for over a year on my HTC evo v and it worked well but after I put it in my note 2 after a while it started unmounting and the card died can't be read from cmouter or phone.read that Samsung cards were good so I bought one of of eBay 32 GB after a while again the phone kills the card.right now I have a pny 8gb because I heard those cards were good and so far it has been good for at least 8-9 months. I'm really itching for storage now as I never get to save my nandroids on my phone and have to save it to a USB using otg.
Anyway I bought a 32gb pnybsd card but I'm pretty hesitant to put it in I really don't want to burn cash on another SD card.which brands works the best for you guys ? I know samnsung is just bad with sandisk so is it just sandisk or 32gb cards in general ? I'm getting an lg gpad soon so I could but the 32 GB in their and maybe get a 16 GB for the note 2. What do you guys think ?
