Rt Desktop port: MicroEMACS - Windows RT General

Because I have loved MicroEmacs since I was just a wee fledgling programmer in the 80's, I decided that I ought to be able to use it my Surface RT. It makes a nice commit editor for fossil and just general programming.
The source code is on BitBucket: bitbucket dot org/adamcrossland/microemacs-for-surfacert
and the executable can be found in the Downloads section: bitbucket dot org/adamcrossland/microemacs-for-surfacert/downloads
and is also attached here.

Well, sure, if you really want. Not sure what you can glean from this, but here you go.
EDIT: the uploaded image doesn't seem to be working. Sorry about that. I'll try to get something loaded elsewhere, like the
project's Wiki page on bitbucket, and I'll notify here when it is done.
EDIT EDIT: well, it looks like the image is working now, for whatever it is worth.

Dreamsforgottens tutorial is great. Learned most of my android knowledge there. (Had a little help from Google too);-) Once you get eclipse set up I reccomend installing paint.net it's a nice image editor and it's free. It handles transparent pngs better than photoshop also. Pngcrusher is great for reducing image sizes too. Just remember to optimize your .9.pngs before compiling them in eclipse.

The fact that your apk is named unsignedunsignedmms is odd. Do you also an apk named unsignedmms in the modding folder as well as a decompiled unsignedmms folder in the projects folder? Also are you trying to sign from the modding folder and not the signing folder?
Edit: I missed something here. You're using a market app to sign your apk's? Why not just use apk manager?
Edit2: I just dl'ed that app, and trying it.
Edit3: With that app you need to have both the original apk and the unsigned modded apk in the folder. Though most apps that you sign, you're only doing it to take the resource.arsc file out of it so not sure why you would do it on your phone.

[MOD] How to create a simple Theme!

This is how to create a simple and a beautiful Windows 8 Theme!
Go to: Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Personalization
And Open Up Pictures, and choose what pictures you want,
Next go to Color and choose what color you want ( I Prefer Auto Colorization)
Next go to sound, and pick sounds for the Windows Action's
Next, (this step is most optional at all) Go to screensaver and choose what choose what you want to use for your screen saver,
Next Save theme "Mythemel0l"
And it should now be in C:\Windows\resources\Themes
and should be named "Mythemel0l"
What the crap? not to be rude, but, uh, that's not exactly how to create a theme... that's to create a combo of appearance settings, not a theme as in an msstyles X_X
Actually it is a theme, or at least is how windows take them, look at the personalization options of windows 7/vista
That's true, but that's been there since Win7, I don't see the point in explaining this in Win8 because that's something that did not change at all :/ except for the MetroUI, but those instructions aren't even for MetroUI :/

this is not any misleading text anywhere, its a simple theme (at least that MS call's it" so no misleading text anywhere
Actually it is kind of misleading. In an XDA-Developers context, people come here for advanced stuff, not for something you would find on Lifehacker or whatever other simple "tips" site. When you say theme, people at XDA tend to expect full on customization, not changing the desktop wallpaper which my 6 year old little brother figured out how to do...
Anyways, I did have a laugh at this thread, so it wasnt a complete waste of my time

3- connect phone to adb
4- ./extract-files.sh

OMAP is the type of chip. ARM v7 is the type of instruction-set architecture it uses.

sharing the apk here, AndroidPolice has gotten enough traffic out of this one
Here is how I installed this on wanam 3.7 (deodexed rom) You may have to find and delete .odex files on stock roms
(you may want to do a full backup in cwm first)
plug phone into usb cable from pc
Drag file from pc desktop to phone.
Run root explorer on phone (or a file manager with root access)
go to system/app
mount r/w
long press gmail2.apk
rename as gmail2.bak
mount r/o
now still in root explorer go to sdcard
press androidpolice_gmail2.apk and choose install from the package installer.
(Installs in data/app)
reboot phone
Enjoy pinch to zoom
If you want it in system/app find another guide

1080x1920 Wallpaper Thread

So... now that we are at a full 1080x1920 on our phone screens... I've found it to be particularly frustrating to find good wallpapers that match this resolution. So I started cropping larger images today in my free time. I also collected a lot of 640x1140 images that look great on our phone. I put them all in a zip file and will link it here.
Feel free to keep the thread ongoing and post your own favorites. Just be sure to keep it limited to High Resolution and quality images. Nothing less than 640x1140. Cheers. :good:

BTW, its silly that it works this way. But you have to single left click on the preview that XDA generates. It will open open the image in a new page and you'll have the full 1080 resolution then.

wallpaperswide.com is where I go. I download the 2560x1920 resolution of the images. Then I open the images in Microsoft Photo Editor. The one that comes with Office 2010. You can easily use that to crop off 1480 pixels, left or right.

OK, what is the trick to getting the wallpaper to also include the menubar area like the stock ones?
http://interfacelift.com/
is where I like to find all sorts of wallpapers, each one downloadable in any popular resolution, including 1080x1920.
But for proper rotation, isn't the standard wallpaper size for this phone 1920x1920?
I only like black wallpaper on my phones, but Im pretty utilitarian and want the most battery life out of a phone.
