Hi, I've been using Hashcode's CM11 build for my Kindle Fire HD 7 for a while now and generally it's great but IMDB and a couple of other apps won't load.
Looking at the logs, the Stack Trace log says "You are trying to run this app on the wrong device". I know that sound pretty obvious but I've used IMDB on other CM builds on my Kindle for a while. Any ideas for how I can get it to work?

Last time I checked, you have to edit the device name in /system/build.prop from Kindle Fire to Amazon Kindle Fire.

Second. Yes. You just need hashcode's newest kernel. Try AOKP M5. I use Netflix all the time as I don't have TV.

Same Deal
I have AOKP Build 38 on my Kindle with TWRP 2.1. I can open Netflix, and get to my browse, however, when I choose a video to watch it goes to the red "Netflix" screen and says loading..... and never loads. What gives?
dunno about AOKP but there are plenty of roms here at xda that netflix works perfectly on full list here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859851
I am from outside the US and cannot use the Amazon AppStore but I'd need the Spotify Kindle Edition install file (apk).
I looked all over the web but cannot get it any other way. If somebody from the US could pull it and upload it somewhere that would be greatly appreciated. I don't see any other way.
It is free so it should not be a problem for anybody within the US and it is only about 3-4 Mb.
The standard android Spotify (2.1+) can be downloaded from m.spotify.com but that one doesn't rotate and some control seem not to work. Especially the lack of rotating is annoying as the kindle has a messed up default orientation with the hold button and the headphone jack at the bottom. Inconvenient in any stand. The Icon is low quality too but I don't care about that. For some reason they don't let you download the Kindle Edition apk from anywhere other than the Amazon Store. Any link just redirects there and Amazon for some unknown reason doesn't even let you access free apps without a US creditcard.

Thanks I read that thread before I posted but it has a different issue. That poster wants a Spotify apk for his cm10 running fire.
I just want the normal one for the normal stock kindle fire.

Here is a copy of Spotify for the Kindle Fire. I downloaded it diretly from Amazon using a stock KF.
Right now im using cm11 nightly from about a week after the forced update to 8.4.9 that de rooted who knows how many kindle fire hd 8.9s and 7s i like it well enough but just wondering what others are using on the kfhd 8.9s and 7s. I have a bunch of stuff installed but backed up so loosing the data isn't that big a deal. My main thing i do on the kindle is playing play-station games psp games etc basically its a highly portable al in one game system.
If you have any recommendation other than a different rom like for example maybe there is a game system manager app out there that would let me manage all my games and emulators. Or shoot maybe some developer might be interested in making such a app and would want to go back and forth here on the forums for what should go in to such a app. Im game to be a guinea pig err beta tester
That's my first question before installing any rom.
I don't want to lose Amazon Prime Instant Video.
I did some searching works and found the answer is NO, which is really regretful.
If there's any miracle, it must come from this board.
Please advice. Thanks.
Search instant video in the app store. I think you'll need the Amazon store app as well. Should work on any rom. I'm using cm 11 and it runs fine.
Thanks a lot. I asked this b/c I ever tried to install the "prime instant video" app from the Amazon app store, but in the CM11 ROM of an Android tablet (not a kindle fire HD).
It didn't work in that case.
So I doubt whether the "prime instant video" app will still work on the same CM11 ROM, even it is actually running on a kindle fire HD 8.9.
In my understanding, there's no reason to differ the two CM11 ROMs behave differently on the underlying hardwares - i.e., if the former failed, then the latter would fail too.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Still, I heartily wish your "CM11 - prime instant video" experience can be copied : )
If you could confirm that this CM11 link should work

I'll try it.
Many thanks.

If you install the phone version of the amazon store then go to prime videos it will install the correct app and work. I'm doing this on cm11
anyone had a issue with kodi being super slow when connecting to the internet to search for shows, installing anything, or loading anything. i tried to uninstall kodi and install a new version. Now i can't even get it to connect to install Indigo for TV addons. I have a fire stick and it doesn't seem to have as much of a issue.
Try SPMC. It's a fork of Kodi specifically for Android (FireTV) based systems. I've just installed it myself minutes ago, can notice a slight increase in performance have yet to test any buffering playback quality
Edit: also a good choice for a setup instead of those laggy builds is this guide from Reddit "a tutorial I made on customizing Kodi to look and act like a super powered Netflix" I'm a new user so I can't post the link but google it.
Just uninstall and reinstall if your having issues with your add-ons your prolly doing the process wrong I'm sure you have figured that out by now.

Yea I'm having the same issue I installed the add-ons using with supreme build wizard
Not slowness, but the movie search tool in exodus has stopped working. Somebody wrote it was an ip problem. I don't know. But right now I cannot search for a movie title.
Kodi is having problems. Maybe they're clamping down on it.
