Hello all.
Is there another modem than the UVUAMDL version for the SGH-M919? Or a way to flash say, a i9505 modem to the M919?
The latest modem as of this writing is the UVUEMK2. Take a look at this thread here to see how to get the file and flash the modem.
Do not flash any other modems except the SGH-M919 modems. Flashing other modems will result in an inability of the phone to boot.

The thread you linked indicates to flash the UVUAMDL, and not the MK2.

No. There's no need to worry about Knox when it comes to flashing the modem. The only time you need to worry about Knox is if you flash the 4.3 stock recovery and ROM.
Much Appreciated

This totally worked. Thanks. No knox and new band. I'm still having a coverage issue however.

I'm also having issues with coverage. I came from a 4.2.2 ROM with MDL radio. Flashed darthstalker 4.3 ROM and I rarely got more than 1 bar of signal. So I flashed the Mk2 radio via Odin and still the same, one bar everywhere I go.
Any one else experience this?
Is 4.3 more accurately displaying my signal strength?
Or is this just normal?
My speeds are still pretty good with 1 bar....15mb/s down, and 2m/bs up

getting the same thing as well
did the flash to mk2, and, with all of you, i'm getting just 1 bar. didn't bother to check it since in my room, i tend to get at 2-3 bars; but, outside of that, the signal is usually quite strong.
another note, i'm using infamous alpha s4 12.04 rom, i'm not able to send mms or receive mms at all, period (while wi-fi is on). not sure if this is the same for all other 4.3 roms out there. i know of the data drops and what nots; but, haven't seen or read anything of not sending and receiving mms. usually, when i send mms, previously on infamous alpha s4 11r2 rom, it would go through just fine with no problem. the thing is, when sending mms it goes through 4G LTE since the 11r2 rom does not have wi-fi calling at all -- what this means is that even when on wi-fi the 4G LTE would come on the notification does it's sending and receiving animation and the mms would go through just perfect. but with the 4.3 12.04 rom it won't do that.
the only way to send mms, i found, was to disable wi-fi and wait for 4G LTE to kick in then send the mms. i don't like doing that, LOL. i like to be able to send mms even with wi-fi on without having to disable it (like with the 11r2 rom)
I have posted the solution to the signal problems you all are having in another thread. Go here and follow the instructions to resolve the issue.

I've searched but can't find an UVUAMDL baseband file to flash anywhere, any idea why that is ?
I'm on rooted UVUAMDL stock rom but still on UVUAMDB baseband and I've been losing network connection 3 times today in areas where my gf's S4 on stock UVUAMDL has been rock solid, so I think having the modem mismatch the rom is probably the issue...

Another thread actually has info that this is an issue with the phone. I'm sorry, but I'm unable to locate the thread again.
I dont think its a issue....been flashable modems on every galaxy phone including both international s4 so irs just a matter of someone who knowshow to make it
Can someone with the know how make one?....thanks in advance

I'm using the Wicked v2 ROM that is using MDB as the baseband and the only network issue I'm having is connecting to the LTE network. Phone connection is fine, 4G connection works great, but whenever I'm in an area that has the new T-mobile LTE network, my phone loses its data connection unless I force it to use the 4G connection.
I had same exact problem. I Odin'd the MDL tar which put me at MDL baseband and that fixed my problem. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258628

Also tried this last night with no success. Still on older baseband. I believe its what breaks my WiFi. The only temporary solution I've found is to flash a custom kernel I found here. Its fixed my WiFi issues but I'd eventually would like to have my baseband upgraded too.

i'll try to tmw. this is just what i had on hand and already uploaded
we now have a modem thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282342
Wow, that was crazy. I tried heimdall flashing the modem at first and nothing. So I made one of my flashable update .zips I had made for T999 and still nothing!
Then I found this thread and tried something crazy:
(1) Download mode + heimdall flash of a few files w/o reboot, then hard reboot back to Download Mode
(2) heimdall flash of same files w/o reboot (it should error)), then hard reboot back to Download Mode
(3) heimdall print-pit (forces it to reboot cleanly)
I did this with all the firmware files including the bootloader but it was scary. I tried to do all the other firmware files at once and it wrote all but aboot.mbn and failed to write that one out. It was worrying since I the other bootloader files had succeeded and I was worrying I could possibly brick it. I repeated the above steps for aboot.mbn and got it to update as well. It seems the above steps can't be used for all the firmware files at once, but at least a few of them. It seems heimdall can get into a bad state with communicating with the device if too many flashes are pushed at once.
This was with a clean git checkout of heimdall from its github repo the other night. Unfortunately heimdall seems to have a bunch of bugs lately. 1.4rc1 (shipped with Debian and other distros) is broken for the S3. --no-reboot option suppresses reboot on S3 and S4 but further commands are not accepted, requiring manual hard reboot. Earlier versions don't work at all.
It worked out for me in the end but gosh I don't know how I'd modify the script to work short of someone having some sort of way of overriding the write protection. I tried dd manually in recovery and in CM and nothing... Seems like some sort of NAND write protection is going on. If I dd a modem to mmcblk0p1 and read it back, the content doesn't change
Maybe we need something like wpthis.ko from HTC Vision days ...
Anyway I got my wife's phone on UVUAMDL w/o Odin but boy it wasn't pretty. I made an updater script but it doesn't actually work do to the above reasons.
Anyone know what's up with the crazy write protection on the mmcblk0 partitions? It seems nothing ever gets written to mmcblk0p1 for example if I try to write NON-HLOS.bin out to it.
Major props for the modem-only Odin package for the S4, but unfortunately not all of us here have/want to use Windows, so I'd like to figure out a flashable update.zip solution to simplify this like I've done on the T999 S3.
Unfortunately my script was a no-op and only doing a bunch of crazy stuff through heimdall and hard rebooting the device several times over was the only way for me to achieve a full MDL firmware upgrade for S4 that included NON-HLOS.bin and modem.bin (the two modem firmwares on S4), rpm.mbn (Resource and Power Management), sbl{2,3}.mbn and aboot.mbn (MDL bootloader), and tz.mbn (MDL Trust Zone)
I noticed Download Mode had "Write Protect: On" -- I don't remember if my S3 says this or not.
Is anyone working on a way to get around this? Maybe the hack can be integrated into an update.zip script that updates the firmware. MDB radio / firmware seemed really bad on the S4. It would sometimes have trouble making 911 calls (!!!) and was overall really lame with power usage and data. I'm still playing with MDL to see how much improvement there is, but seems like a nice win.

Does your area have LTE? I don't seem to get LTE in San Jose, California or at least where I live there. I haven't tried it at the office in San Francisco yet.
Im trying to flash an att modem on the tmobile note 3, ive read ppl do this... but pc odin errors out. Ive been able to do it, I think, with mobile odin when I was using a n9005 rom but only because the n9005 is supported.
The reason I think it did flash was because although it still said I had a tmobile modem on my settings/about, the phone did get better signal and ive read that happens a lot, where you flash a modem and it doesnt say its the version you flashed.
Anyways, how can I successfully flash it aaaand for it to say I have the modem I flashed in my settings>about?

Theres a thread on this already. Some claim better signal after flashing the modem via mobil odin but then again others noticed nothing. I personally didn't notice any signal strength gain and I don't think the modem really even flashes, just my 2 cents.

I was running the omega 9005 rom, you can even change your build.prop to the 9005 and it will flash the modem with mobile odin. I've tried flashing just about every ATT modem out there with pc odin and they all fail right at the end.

Yea I even posted on that thread for help but no go, havent kept up with it lately though
So I updated my modem to MK2 (kept MDL bootloader) in order to try some of the 4.3 ROMs but I haven't been a fan. Now I want to go back to 4.2 but absolutely cannot get the MDL modem back? I've tried flashing in ODIN and even though it says it passed it's still MK2. I've tried this on both 4.3 ROMs and 4.2 ROMs. I got so desperate that I've even wiped everything, installed the completely stock MDL ROM through ODIN and it's STILL MK2!! How do I get MDL back, is it even possible? I'm finding I'm stuck with 1-2 bars of both LTE and HSPA+ when before on MDL ROM and MDL radio I had full bars and 38Mbps LTE and 25Mbps HSPA+. Now I have nowhere near that. This sucks! Any help would be appreciated!
I'm in the same boat as you. I do like the 4.3 Roms but I've yet to get more than 2 bars anywhere I go. The only way I can get more than 2 bars is if I'm standing next to a tower. Lol. I'm thinking we need the modem.bin for MDL and flash via Odin in the phone slot, not the PDA slot. But what do I know.?
Maybe someone smarter than me can fill me in.lol

Try this. If it doesn't stick the first time, try it again. It may take a few flashes, or it may work on the first shot. Either way, you can downgrade the modem with that.

I don't know why you want to go back to the mdl modem, the mk2 is an improvement for
sure and it works perfectly with any of the cwm/twrp flashable 4.2.2 & 4.3 custom roms.

Maybe its just the phone mis-interpreting the signal strength, but, I get 1 bar of signal where I used to get 3 bars. Data speeds do test slower, but are still pretty acceptable. Tried multiple ROM/kernel combinations. Thanks for the help.

I was definitely getting less bars and slower speeds on MK2 modem while on MDL ROM but was finally able to downgrade the modem by using mobile odin and extracting the modem.bin file from the TAR for the flash.
It could have been a coincidence that the speeds were lower when I was on MK2 modem and MDL rom as when I first downgraded to MDL modem, the bars/speed was still slower and it's now faster this morning. At least I can now go back and forth on the modem if needed!

Here where I live my signal changes when I move just a few feet in either direction.
That's why it makes me laugh whenever I see someone posting about one or two bar signal differences.

I've built communications towers and their cellular layout designs, resource allocation and signaling load calculations. I can confirm your situation when moving only a few feet in one direction can yield more signal. In reality, signals are an erratic "heartbeat" and zig-zag rapidly while hitting abs top and bottom freqs. It is hard to describe but easy to reproduce, it is why some people raise their phone to the sky in the same location to try and get a better signal.

I tried that by replacing the modem.bin files in the rom's folders for the 3 modem versions with the wind 4.3 modem.bin, it took 2 flashes before my phone would start working but still had a no network symbol instead of signal bars. i also tried flashing the wind 4.1.1 modem through recovery after but no luck. i can see that others on the t889 have had success with this rom, so i should be able to use it on a t889v, cant figure out what the problem is.

Its not data. Its just plain network signal. Instead of seeing bars at the top right ive got a no smoking sign without the cigarette in the middle. Thats what i meant by "no network" symbol. Im pretty sure that its a modem issue. Strange taht flashing a modem over it wonrt work, and other than that the rom works perfectly, but not being able to use my phone to make calls is kind of a dealbreaker.

Hi all,
I was hoping one of the resident geniuses could help me here because searching and experimenting haven't worked yet. I bought a i337 because I'm on AT&T and when I found I could only run TW roms via SS (it was already on 4.4.2), I bought a M919, and I've got it rooted and running TWRP 2.7.0.1 and some new roms. I've been able to flash i9505 and M919 roms and then an AT&T kernel, but whenever I flash a i337 modem it doesn't take. The baseband continues to show it is on M919 NB4. Can anyone help me understand how to get the i337 modem? I can make and receive calls, but do sometimes see some signal drops and I understand this is the way to go.
Thanks!
I meant to mention I am flashing via recovery, and I understand ODIN may work but that runs the risk of impacting my bootloader (which I think is bad, as i337 is locked and I have a M919 anyway)? Can someone confirm? I'll keep trying recovery zips, but I wonder if it's something in the Tmo NB4 or bootloader keeping it from sticking?

The phone came with latest Tmo firmware and the NB4 baseband. I'm running Phoenix ROM now, Ktoonsez kernel. Can't say for sure yet because I just got on this combo, but as I've been testing over last 24 hours I've seen a LOT of my phone dropping signal when the screen locks or sleeps (I think). I get the crossed circle and I have to go into Mobile Networks and have it search for a network to get my cellular signal back. So it isn't the Tmo modem impacting this? Will I get LTE? Are there any better options if the signal keeps dropping short of going back to that bloody i337?
Try flashing fenny's NB4 firmware with Odin, the modem shouldn't be the problem there have been people with same issues running T-Mobile. Flashing firmware should fix it.. Try running stock for a few days and see if you keep getting drops

NEVER flash modems meant for another device. Never.
Ever.
Man, I could swear I've seen folks recommending to do exactly that for all the bands to work properly and for the best signal. Thanks for setting me straight folks!
