[Q] Regional unlocking for galaxy S3 i747m - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I hav got a Second Hand s3 i747m as a gift from canada last week. I live in india and using the phone in india . I had no problem in using local indian sim as the person who sent the phone said me its already unlocked. I
studied a lot about Region locking and its effects . I had
4.1.1 and I updated to 4.1.2 through wifi(settings> about
device> software update) .. now the next update is 4.3 ..Now if i update to 4.3 , It is supposed to get region locked.. I
talked to samsung customer care India (national ). they said that
give your phone to nearby local samsung service centre .
they will modify your imei to indian based and u won't face
region locking anymore. but when I visited service centre .
they said that they are not authorised to unlock s3 which is
not Indian region based. they can't help me. now what
should I do ? I can't get a sim from canada. and can't I ever
update to 4.3 or 4.4(in future) ?
thanks in advance for reading and helping me

I region unlocked my phone using srs at Sammobile it was quick and easy

but you are using the phone in the same region where it was manufactured ? or You have imported from other region ?
will the srs provide me code for regional unlocking too ? coz once I update to 4.3 ..after reboot it will ask me unlock code if I don't insert canadian sim

Srs unlocks the region via sub cable, phone needs to be rooted but it does it through and no codes needed try it you certainly have nothing to lose

Yes use odin and cf autoroot to root the phone, just search cf autoroot in sgs III forum download the correct file and flash it then update supersu and disable Knox, it will ask you when you update, I used mobile odin to update recovery to twrp since goomanager has stopped working but you don't need a new recovery, just for your info, after your rooted you can use SRS to unlock region, there is a test sign on for the SRS on sammobile site use it to unlock region

So I flashed the file posted and I made my phone boot loop at the Samsung logo for 8 hours now, Any ideas?
I did have the "4.1.2" OTA Update installed before and I did have it rooted and Followed a unroot Procedure on XDA. I was trying to get ahold of the OTA Odin file so that I could return because I think When I used that odin file posted, It flashed a lower version radio then I had Previously and Coming from HTC I know That it would brick the device....

Updates (not new android) remove the root ?

Please help me with this question?
I have Stock ROM with android 4.1.2 and root with this.
However, today issued an update of 60MB. I can install the update or if I do, I lose root?
Wouldnt 60mb be a bit too small for 4.3? So probably you could still root it afrerward with the same method as 4.1.2. Hope I get this soon too, although had been no rumours of more updates before 4.3, strange.

Stock 4.1.1 to unlock

I know, I know... search but Upndwn4par doesn't have the stock 4.1.1 thread open anymore and I seemed to have deleted any copies I had. Does anyone happen to have it ? I am wanting to unlock this to sell it but I can't find a 4.1.1 anywhere.
On a side note, since I've never unlocked a phone before, does it have to be unrooted to put in an unlock code from lets say AT&T if they gave it to me ?
You can get all stock firmwares on sammobile and there is instructions in this forum to unlock using your keypad

I'm in the same situation but for rogers. This is the the only one I can find but download speeds are slow, and when i reach 543mb it suddenly stops downloading. I'm now trying to download the file using a download manager.

I'll try the unlock method posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48131705#post48131705
It worked on my skyrocket rogers i727r. The 4.1.1 firmware I flashed was rooted, so i think there's no problem if it's rooted as long as it's stock.

I've got the instructions but I really don't want to have to use odin if I don't have to but I could just use the prerooted .tar and just try it with that.
I'm on 4.4 right now and it only works if you are on 4.1.1 stock and I'd rather not have to lie to the carrier as to why I need to unlock

2-will I get a Knox message if I do
3-If it's only a simple modem problem, where can I find the m919 modem

1. Yes, you must be rooted.
2. If your device has Knox bootloader, yes it will trip the counter.
3. Still going to root?

Well i've tryed to find more info on the subject and nothing seems to be informative on this subject.
Guess us canadians don't buy enought galaxies everyone is and is sold to iphone they think jailbreaking is bad so imagine having to root a phone and play with this you're not suppose to touch because the little book that came with it said so
