Does anyone know how to change the password or remove a password for the screen unlock? I don't see anything in the security area that allows you to make changes to it.

n00b lol. it's there to allow you to change what keyboard you're using. if you know you specifically want to use one and never change it then disable the rest of them in language and input under settings and it'll disappear.

It's part of ICS. Was a little odd to see at first, but a handy way of switching keyboards. I suggest you get used to it cause future versions might still have this as part of the OS.

Just search the threads for how to root your phone. Its easy takes about 10-15 minutes not even. Then after you have root, download the app from the play store and uninstall anything you want, just be careful not to uninstall the wrong thing.

To enable softkeys, simply add the following line into your build.prop
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
And reboot.
VOILA!
Oh, and BTW, is there away to get rid of the hardware key light in cm10? That would add to the soft key effect and save battery.

Go to /sys/devices/platform/msm_ssbi.0/pm8xxx-core/pm8xxx-led/leds/button-backlight/
Open brightness and max brightness, and set the number to 0.
Basic method from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694375
It didn't stick the first time I tried it, but it seems to work now.
Edit: Never mind, reboot made it revert. Sorry.

if only there were a way to do this but still be able to use lg notification app. that would be awesome. i absolutely love having the on screen buttons, it just seems easier, maybe it's just me, but having them serve as notifications is extremely useful...

Using ParanoidAndroid cm10 based. The app is actually in the market, called "LG Touch Notifications". i think it is here
Answered my own question.
XDA's policy to is to put things like guides and tutorials in the General section. Development is for software only. Moved to General.
I added a pin to my phone, but it doesn't work every time. Plus I can still open email, camera, etc from the lock screen. How are you guys securing your phones from people accessing your info?
What is a pin?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
You have to set a lock time in the menu where you set the lock combo
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
A pin is a lock code. For example your atm card had a pin number when u use it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Personal Identification Number
So I never got an answer. How come I have pin or pattern lock on but it does not work every single time I turn screen off then Bck on? In must be doing something wrong. Also does encryption setting have anything to do with the lock screen? Why do the instructions say it can take a hour or more to setup? What will it do?

Hi I was wondering if there any setting or app that let me put notification at bottom. I Google and people say set DPI to 213 to force it bottom but its not working. I'm using carbon ROM and it doesn't have that tablet mode option. If any one knows please guide me thanks

I don't think this will help you, anyway. That build.prop tweak just gives you onscreen controls. I've never used Carbon so I'm not sure what the options are. PA includes a Tablet UI.

He's right. I misread the op. But yes, end of build.prop. I used es file explorer.

First I did used es explorer to edit it and put it at end. But won't let me save . second if doing the edit won't put my notification at bottom like tablet ui mode?

Yes, with carbon rom

Nah the edit I told you about won't do that. And root explorer is the best alternative.
