Enable softkeys on (probably) ANY ROM - LG Nitro HD

To enable softkeys, simply add the following line into your build.prop
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
And reboot.
VOILA!
Oh, and BTW, is there away to get rid of the hardware key light in cm10? That would add to the soft key effect and save battery.

Go to /sys/devices/platform/msm_ssbi.0/pm8xxx-core/pm8xxx-led/leds/button-backlight/
Open brightness and max brightness, and set the number to 0.
Basic method from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694375
It didn't stick the first time I tried it, but it seems to work now.
Edit: Never mind, reboot made it revert. Sorry.

if only there were a way to do this but still be able to use lg notification app. that would be awesome. i absolutely love having the on screen buttons, it just seems easier, maybe it's just me, but having them serve as notifications is extremely useful...

Using ParanoidAndroid cm10 based. The app is actually in the market, called "LG Touch Notifications". i think it is here

Answered my own question.

XDA's policy to is to put things like guides and tutorials in the General section. Development is for software only. Moved to General.

Just search the threads for how to root your phone. Its easy takes about 10-15 minutes not even. Then after you have root, download the app from the play store and uninstall anything you want, just be careful not to uninstall the wrong thing.

[MOD/APP] Updated 3/21/13 Custom Apps When Headphones Connected

I saw it asked in the FK23 threads and it peaked my curiosity, so a little searching and some messing around and here's what I came up with..
This is NOT my work!
First I want to thank xCaldazar from the Verizon S3 forums for his guide here
Edit - Thanks to Mattix724 for finding this - and to rickythefox, after posting this I found several posts linking to a thread that I didn't see. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1763441
He has made an app that will do this and he also has a mod for the sgs3
Edited the guide and mod I made out as the app does this flawlessly, just make sure you have an updated version of busy box
Was given permission by rickythefox (Thank him in his thread please ) to port his mod for 12 apps listed when headphones are connected. So here is the new ported 12_app_headphone_mod.zip - 249.81 KB
Also, I forgot to mention, you need to download the app rickythefox made here in order for this to work!
Edit- Updated to work with GB08/GB27
Thanks TD for doing this while I was stuck at work LOL
Also for being kind enough to provide deodexed and odexed versions:thumbup:

I don't think this will help you, anyway. That build.prop tweak just gives you onscreen controls. I've never used Carbon so I'm not sure what the options are. PA includes a Tablet UI.

Unknown Icon Notification

So I get this icon that shows my CPU usage and battery that appeared randomly on my notification bar. I'm not sure how it got there but I'm quite used to it now and like the looks of it. Does anyone know how to enable or disable it just incase it goes away on it's own? Or should I be aware of it because it can be a harmful third party app?

Are you using any 3rd party app that monitor your cpu status ect.? I know when I used "Quick System Info" app I had the option to shows those info on my status bar.
Does it also show in the drop down panel? If it does long press on it and chose "App info".

Open your notifications and tap and hold the notification then click app info.
Nothing shows when I drag the notification bar but the same thing it does now. It covers my icons under it and if I were to be on Youtube watching a video on fullscreen it still shows. I haven't installed anything in about a week either. I don't want to take it to T-Mobile and ask since my phones rooted also

Can you provide a list of apps that you have installed? It would help narrow down which programs have the permission to draw overlays and that would likely reveal the culprit. Also, have you tried disabling the Xposed framework to make sure it's not one of the modules you installed (doubt it, but worth the trouble)?

You've installed something recently or changed an app's settings recently. That is an output from a monitoring app. CPU, GPU, or something of that sort.
You need to check that app(s) and uncheck whatever seems to point to showing it.
