Can anyone give me a recommendation for a Data Transfer cable for the kindle fire? I've seen the threads regarding the factory cable, and have noted that as a possibility, but I was wondering if anyone could refer me to a decent cable that will work strictly for data transfer.
I did purchase this cable from newegg, as it was listed as a charge/data transfer cable specifically for Kindle Fire, however, it only provides charging. It does not provide data transfer for KF, windows doesn't even see the device. Interestingly enough, I hooked up my HTC Evo Design 4g to this cable, and data transfer worked immediately. Just doesn't work for the Kindle for whatever reason. Up till now, I've been using my data cable from the HTC Evo and it works with the Kindle, but I think it's causing issues when I set the KF to fastboot for rooting. Not sure if it's due to the cable or not, that's why I want to try a different cable.
Cable I use
I got this cable to charge my phone and data but works fine with my kindle as well.

I just use the USB cable that came with my old LG dumbphone. It works for data and charging.

I use the USB cable that came with my Kindle 3 (now called the kindle keyboard). It works great! I suppose it was designed to work with any micro USB product, but was optimized for the kindle family

I ordered 4 of these and so far they're great..

@Cryplock and tobiasunruh: Do the cables you linked to work for rooting? My problem was that I have a cable from my HTC phone, but I can't get past the initial reboot to fastboot. Not sure if it's the cable or the drivers. I've heard the drivers can be a pain to get to work in fastboot.
I'm using usb cable that came with my SG2 and it works well.
i'm loading with the cable from the Samsung gallaxy SII.
works great.

EDIT:
You are playing Russian roulette if you are using any other cable besides a BB or one of equal quality.

Sorry for the really late response but yes I used the monoprice cable to root my kindle. I also have no problems mounting the kindle to my computer. Works flawless.
I've been using the same cable that came with a 1st gen kindle I got for my daughter. It does work for rooting also. I can't post links here yet but if you go to amazon and search "kindle fire USB" you will find it. Its white and looks like 1 that would come with an Apple product.
Any micro b to usb a cable will work for the kf. They don't make usb cables specifically different for different devices, it has wires that correspond from one end to the other to transfer power and data. They are all made exactly the same albeit different qualities of manufacturing, and the cables and ends can go bad from metal fatigue. If you are having trouble with data connection it could just be a loose connection in the usb micro b end or more likely the wrong drivers installed on your pc.
Also a "factory cable" is a modified usb cable intended solely to alter boot mode, not for data transfer unless equipped with some sort of switch or expressly described as being capable of such.

I purchased my cable from a Japanese thrift store for 1.50, but i'm sure any thrift store micro usb would work.
you all are waaay overthinking this stuff here.
both my original KF and my KF HD 7" are two of the least pickiest microusb devices I've owned.
The reason some devices (i.e. Samsung) are finicky is becauase they connect a precision resistor to two pins on the micro USB connector and their device checks for the presence of their OEM cable by measuring a the power drop over that resistor. One of the pins on a micro usb-B connector is NC since it's a 5 pin connector and the usb A's are 4 pin, so a device that isn't specifically looking for something special on those pins will never know the difference.
Luckily, Amazon took the more respectable route of not ****ing with stupid unnecessary **** in their designs. USB is a digital signal, so as long as you're not getting excessive voltage drop due to too much overall length without an active repeater and your logic high/low signals are within the fairly generous tolerances the spec provides for, any cable will work.
I tend to buy the $4 ones on amazon and have had great luck with them. If I munch one through poor handling or someone steals it, I just go to the big old box of spares I have and pull a handful more out...
I use the cable that came with my Kodak digital camera and it works for charging, syncing and rooting.
The original cable works fine to me, but speed transfers are slow as hell!
I'll try some of your tips on new cable (the cheapest one, possibly).
I have a kf1 with a jacked up Usb port. I can get it to charge with some wiggling but it doesn't show up in device manager. Is there anyway to root without Pc or fix the port?

That's happened to me several times, and I can speak from experience that it is your charger failing. The USB plug on the stock chargers are poorly made, don't fit well, and will eventually fail because of it.
The new black USB cables that Amazon is selling for the second generation devices, fit very well, and will charge your device without fail.

If you're dealing with an actual hardware defect like the one you've described, it will only get worse, especially if you have to finagle it to get it to work properly. You cannot root the KF without a computer, so you should probably look into getting it repaired or replaced.
Have the family over wanted to watch some shows and with my luck the stick doesn't want to work it shows the amazon screen then shuts off.... Any help on getting this to work
Had the device since November worked perfect up in till today.
First thing comes to mind for me is power supply. Id contact amazon. By any chance are you plugging it into your TV instead of using the include wall adapter?

I had it plugged with the tv's usb hub and worked up in till today so I switched to the power supply outlet and still get the same thing... Even tried different tv and hdmi port. Was there a update for it or anything that bricked it?

This actually just came up the other day on another site. Its highly unlikely an update caused your issue but TV USB ports don't usually provide stable power and you can potentially damage the device over time. But of course I can't say for certain that's your issue. I'd contact amazon. Its not likely anyone here can help because I don't think your issue is software related.
Ok thank you
Hi
Got this watch and got a cable from Amazon
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Huawei-Cha...92351002&sr=8-1&keywords=huawei+watch+charger
However while it does charge I cannot get it to connect to the PC and its not recognized and I tried everything. Anyone got a cable that can be recognised by PC or any other options
Cheers

I have tried a few aftermarket chargers and none had the capability to connect to the PC. The wiring of these aftermarkets may only be set for charging purposes, just as some usb cables despite looking normal will only charge and not transfer data. Gotta keep the original cable around or you may be out of luck.

Problem is I bought the watch and there was no charger with it so had to get one from Amazon. Charges the watch ok but cannot get it to connect to PC. Was trying to load apps via this and found this out. Then trying the ADB route via Bluetooth but cannot get this working. Have a few apk’s on the phone for watch faces Fossil etc just wondering how I can force these onto the watch?
Since you have the nice watch, it may be beneficial to shell out the 40$ for OEM charger. I've tried to get Bluetooth adb running in the past but it always ended up with it not working and me with a headache... What I will try later tonight is wireless adb. It worked surprisingly well with my firestick. There was an actual PC app for it that may just work for the watch.
I have a USB OTG cable that I can use to connect USB devices like flash drives, keyboard etc. and that works fine, but for some reason my phone won't charge whilst the OTG cable is plugged in.
Am I missing some really obvious way of getting this to work? Is it software based? I'm rooted and running Lineage OS if that makes any difference. I've tried several different OTG cables, I've tried connecting to different power supplies, different USB cables, different outlets, I've tried going into developer debug settings - nothing seems to get it to charge and data at the same time.
I am also interested in the topic. Trying to run Octoprint for Android and charge at the same time. I bought an OTG Y cable and the problem is that the phone is either charging or communicating with the 3d printer. Never both at the same time. I've researched quite a bit on google and it turns out at least on some devices the required effect can be achieved but I haven't been able to find anything about huawei devices. It is most probably a software limitation.
The same problem but i have Samsung J5 2017, i have rooted device so there is option to modify system files
Gosh! Would love to get this working. Any news?
