[Q] No love for T999L? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I've been scanning the forums for the GS3 to see if anything were to come up for the LTE version of the GS3. Apologies if i missed it, but I had to ask.
The leaked schedule said it would be available 11/25, only to have the T999 get access to it, then the T999v got it. Where's ours?

Be happy you don't have troubles like the Verizon users have.
The LTE version is bricking phones so has been rolled back.

I guess that's good. I wonder what the problem is with this. Something with the radio that didn't affect the T999 and v variants?

No Clue. I see that as a poorly tested upgrade pushed out in a hurry.

If the 4.3 update is being pushed back for better testing and bug fixes then I'm all for that. If it's pushed back for particularly good reason, no improvements, and we still get bugs the others are having then I'll be kinda pissed.

Even the Regular T999 users who did get that update aren't thrilled either. So have no fear.

JRo03o fixes 4G

Just so everyone knows I have a Nexus that was part of the "bad batch"
If you're like me and never got around to getting a replacement or just did want a refurb I'm here to tell you that the latest radio does indeed fix the 4G issues. I was surprised because we all came to the conclusion that the radios themselves were faulty.
So make sure you head to [Radios][VZW] ALL the Verizon Galaxy Nexus Radios and flash the latest radio, unless you're still unrooted than I'm sure you'll get the OTA soon.
Anyway, cheers.

This is great news, as I am on my 6th bad nexus and was trying to decide if I should go for a7th or not. Now if only there was a completely effective trick to force the OTA. I tried the stopping and starting off Google frame work to no avail. Anyone know if Verizon can and will force the update to select phones?

Well if you're unrooted waiting for the OTA they said you'll need to connect to WIFI and they wont do real OTA until October. So try connecting to WIFI and going to about phone and check for update there.

This bites :(

How can there NOT be a leak out there for our AT&T SGS3's that is JB 4.1.1 ?????
Come on people, I know someone out there has to have something up there sleeve they're not sharing ..
PLEASE
Share with us :fingers-crossed:
It does seem odd considering there has been two leaks on sammobile for Bell but yet nothing for AT&T....
For once Canada gets something first/cheaper/better!
They probably fired the person who was "leaking" them for at&t....

Last I heard .. they have to get some sort of "permission" to release a leak !!!! Whatever the f*** that suppose to mean.
The Bell leaks work fine on AT&T phones.
I'm with you OP. Every time I check the forum I'm hoping to see a leaked thread for the att version. Hopefully soon

Yes, I think people are forgetting they are the same device. And they can always just flash their AT&T modem if they want
Just curious (and may be a stupid question, I'm new to this) , why wait for this when there are custom JB roms?

Because for some reason they think an att build would work better then a bell or Rogers one. When in reality its the same device minus the baseband and buildprop.

Are some of the at&t wifi hotspots only open to at&t users? If so I imagine that wouldn't work on a different carrier's leak (unless the certs or whatever were copied).
Whenever I ran a Canadian leak based ROM on my Skyrocket, things like Google search would default to Google.ca, which was annoying. I probably could've fixed that but never got around to it.

Yes you're correct, that issue is easily fixable. A free app from the Play Store called MoreLocale 2 would have fixed that issue in 5 seconds.
is there a link to that bell OTA? And how exactly do we install it?

Can I root this as I would older builds such as LBJ & MA6??

I'm unsure overall. And don't worry there's no chance it will already be mb1 lol. If new out of box, it will at a minimum be at LJ7. Ma6 and mb1 have been released in the last week. The phones in box left the factory months ago and haven't been updated since maybe in a few months the new in box phones will have the mb1 update so just get ready as if your LJ7 or a previous version.

I used the team epic root process mentioned above.
In my case I was rooted with ma6. Got the ota update with stock recovery. Then had to re-root.

I really do not know. I went to MA6 from whatever was previous on my phone(4.1.1). then I rooted then next morning OTA MB1 and rerooted all in less than 48 hours. So i have really no way of knowing what changes were in between MA6 and MB1. There were some minor changes I noticed after updating to MA6.
Google Settings appeared in the App drawer. I think there were some keyboard modifications where there is a separate heptic feedback switch to turn on or off.
Other than that I think everything else was behind the scenes type stuff and bug fixes.
before buying on craigslist, request the ESN number and call up sprint to see if its clean. First thing you should do

Just wanna make sure. Regardless of which baseband I'm on, any rom should work, right? Sprint roms of course. It's just that on the Note 2, some baseband versions wouldn't play nice with certain roms (cause errors, etc.). I'm seeing some roms in dev section saying, "based on ma5" or "based on ljc." Does that mean I HAVE to be on that baseband to flash that rom? Sorry for all the noobish questions but when you bounce around devices, you get confused

Samsung devices act the same. I suggest you read a whole lot more since your question reveals that you really have no idea what you are doing and a brick is in the future... A brick is NOT in my future. Look I respect the fact that you've been around a while and have helped many out but just because I ask a noobish question doesn't mean I'm a noob. I've owned an OG Evo, a EVO 3d, the EVO 4g LTE, the galaxy nexus, the sg2, the gnote 2, and sg3 and many more I probably can't remember right now. I have been a "flashoholic" for quite a while, flashing roms, radios, mods, etc. I've even helped devs build flashable zips to install mods. I HAVE NEVER BRICKED A DEVICE. Maybe my question wasn't clear but it doesn't matter cuz I already updated my baseband to mb 1 and I've flashed several roms, all without incident. It seems to me that all roms work regardless of what baseband your on (as long as they are for the right device). I respect you and others on this forum and I just didn't appreciate the tone with which this came across.

4.1.2 update

Does it not piss anyone else off that the Samsung galaxy s3 for AT&T still hasn't gotten 4.1.2 or even any news on it. The galaxy s2 even got the update for AT&T, so how is it not yet out for the s3.
It's very annoying indeed. However, there's plenty of custom touchwiz roms with 4.1.2 features and they're debloated.

Because they probably only have one software team, and only work on one Samsung device (or just one device - period) at a time.
How to get the Samsung 4.1.2 update:
1. Root your phone with chainfire's CF autoroot method.
2. Install chainfire's app Mobile Odin from the play store.
3. Download the T Mobile T999 update from samsung-updates.com.
4. Flash everything from the update EXCEPT the modem.

I read some where yesterday the reason for the delay of the galaxy s3 and note update is because a new touchwiz is being developed and is supposed to bring us up to 4.2.2.. Time will tell there is alot of B.S. on the internet as we all know.

Update is live and rolling out! See my post in the main general thread. My wife is downloading now. I am in SW Missouri. Have fun!
Do we know or suspect anything yet in regard to
1) keeping root through the 4.4 OTA?
2) the negative impact of accepting the OTA on a rooted device running TWRP? I read something today that seemed to indicate that you needed the stock recovery to accept the OTA, so perhaps this is a moot point.
Related Note:
Why do I care if I am rooted? Why don't I just wait and flash a custom Sense 5.5 based on the new OTA firmware when it becomes available? It's interesting - I keep going back to my stock, rooted, original rom after flashing multiple roms available here on XDA, even some very good ones. HTC has done a pretty darn good job with Sense 5, and while I had no qualms leaving 3.6 behind for stock AOSP Android when available, I find myself missing Sense features when I use AOSP or GPE on my One. I've messed around with a couple of Sense custom roms, and I keep returning to the original firmware. I appreciate the ability to remove apps entirely through TiBu, so keeping root is good, and I reserve the ability to flash a custom rom if I get itchy want to, but I look at the fact that we are soon to receive an OTA, and I am torn. I know that it will be likely a matter of hours before someone Santod posts a stock rooted Verizon 4.4, but I've already set mine up exactly the way I wanted it. It's funny, after spending a couple of months not flashing new roms, both on the last month of my Bolt when there was nothing new and in the first month of having the One when 4.3 couldn't be rooted, I got really annoyed at the amount of time I was spending setting up accounts and preferences and mods and whatnot during the last week of flashing custom One roms. /rambling
