[GUIDE] SoftBricked?? I'll Show You How to UnBrick It!

HELLO EVERYONE!
This is how to UnBrick the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II.
Make Sure you Never UnPlug the USB Cable While Flashing!
YOU WILL NEED:
Odin 1.85
USB Drivers
T-Mobile Stock 2.3.6
T-Mobile Stock 4.0.3
You must be really nervous right now. DON'T WORRY! THE MORE YOU STRESS, THE MOST LIKELY YOU WILL MESS UP!
Let's get down to business!
1. Relax, and focus on what you are doing.
2. Now try to put your phone to Download Mode.
A. Take out and put back in the battery. Then, hold Vol + and Vol - , now plug in USB and you will get to this screen.

Then, you must press Vol +, and your in Download Mode!
B. Find a G2x USB and check if it puts in download mode while its off. If it doesn't, you will need to use a USB JIG.
IF NON OF THIS OPTIONS WORK, AND YOUR PHONE DOESN'T BOOT, YOU HAVE HARD BRICKED YOUR DEVICE. TO PROVE THIS HAPPENED, PLUG IN YOUR DEVICE AND SEE WHAT THE DEVICE NAME IS ON YOUR PC. SHOULD SAY SOMETHING ABOUT QUALCOMM BOOTLOADERS.
2. Once your in Download Mode, open up Odin 1.85 (Make sure you installed the drivers!) Once in Odin 1.85, Check PDA and look for the downloaded:
T989UVKL1_HOME_SGH-T989user_CL799405_REV00.tar.md5 for 2.3.6.
Tmobile LE1 ICS FULL ROM for 4.0.3.
3. Press Start!
4. Once it's done, it should look like this.
Now, it should reboot to recovery and delete cache and data. Then, it will boot.
Your now on stock, if this didn't work for you, write in the comments, What device you have (T989D or T989) if it went to Download Mode, and what didn't work!
HOW TO ROOT YOUR PHONE
1) Download This Recovery : ClockworkMod TOUCH 5.5.0.4
2) Download The SU Files : SU Files + Superuser
3) Flash SU Files In Recovery.
4) ENJOY

Thanks for this good job.If I can suggest also putting 2.3.5 stock zip up.It is easy to root with superonclick.Then flash a 2.3.6 ROM of your choosing.thanks again.
Edit:Or I guess you can just flash recovery then flash a 2.3.6 rooted ROM to get your root.

Unfortunately none of these methods here work if you are unfortunate enough to have the black screen and it won't go into download mode, recovery or boot. That my friends is a true brick.

The odin pix you have is Odin 3. (Android+SLP) but the the odin 1.85 that is in OP is not the same, after downloading, it shows EPIC 4G and not the same on the op. the pix in the op is the odin i use for vibrant. did i dl the the right odin 1.85?

Its not supposed to look the same, just to show you how it kinda lloks

what are my options for hard bricked device ?
it hangs on black screen, no download mode no CWM no nothing.
Only when i connect it to the pc in device manager shows qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader9008 ?

Thanks this really helped me.

This worked great after the damn forced OTA locked my phone on the white loading screen. I was so worried I had lost all my xmas pics I just took of my 1 and 2 year old daughters. I followed these instructions exactly and after a reboot all of my data, pics, video are still there. Nothing was lost
Now I just have to reroot, remove readded bloat, etc and can enjoy my phone again. Thanks sooo much.

BTW, Try to save your photos on your EXTERNAL SDCard, not your internal. It would save you from important things like this!!

You can call tmobile and see if they'll replace it, and/or buy a new one?
I called T-Mobile meself.

Can you still get into recovery?
If so, just flash the stock rom.
Otherwise, if you mean that your note 2 won't start up at all, try getting into download mode.
If you can access download mode, use odin to get back to stock.
As long as you can get into download mode, there is no reason to panic

It won't start up at all and I don't think I can get Odin because I have a Mac.

So it is possible to get into download mode?
I couldn't locate a stock rom that could be used with odin
As long as you can access the download mode you are fine now.
I would wait around a bit to allow some time for developers to come by this post to give you further assistance
As far as I know, you need a .tar file to use with odin.
Since I could not locate the tar file, I will have to let you get advice from someone else.

Doesn't seem fine ATM. But I guess we'll see.

One advice that I will give you is to READ more.
I can't say that I know much, but the fact that you do not even know how to access download mode tells me that you need to learn heck of a lot more.
Being able to access download mode indicates that your phone isn't 'bricked.'
Download mode is what Samsung uses originally to install the roms through odin.
Hence, I can't guarantee your data, but your phone will be functional again - once your rescue arrives.
READ more. Reading more won't hurt a bit - especially when you are faced with the situation that you are in

Use heimdall. And i'm pretty sure sammobile has all available stock roms for the Note2

Ah, I just located it.
Android_Noob_2k12 - here's my solution.
As I am not familiar with mac, find a pc, download PDA from sammobile, use odin to push it while in download mode.

I have absolutely no way of getting a pc. I do not live in or near the city and every computer at my house is a Mac.

I already tried to use the stock rom from the sammobile site it didn't work. But I will look into heimdall.

It's not that I didn't know how to get to download made, it's that I didn't know there was such thing as download mode. When I rooted my phone I did it all on my phone through equinox abuse apk and goo manager so I wouldn't have to deal with crap like download mode and Odin and all of that since I can't even use Odin with a Mac. And believe me when I say that I have been reading. I have not left my computer since this happened.

Okay I am going to use heimdall as it works for Mac. I will try to get the stock AT&T rom from sammobile again but I don't see why it will work this time considering it didn't work last time. What do I use to clean up any remaining root software after I get the stock rom flashed? And how to I return it to a un-modified state so I can return to att and get a new one that has a working SIM card reader.

First I'll assume you're on att. You can get the stock unrooted att rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2076745
Second, assuming heimdall works like odin does, youll flash the md5 file you downloaded from the above link and this will wipe your phone. No root, no customization, no data, nothing.

Finally, once you have a stock phone again, if you have the modified count > 0 in the download screen, youll have to follow these directions to clear count: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1992303
Edit: last things. You'll have to be able to connect to your phone through your mac using the necessary usb drivers. You may be able to find a pc at a library or coffee shop, etc... this will teach you to be a mac fanboi good luck

I did the same thing last week. Easy fix. Power off first, remove battery if you have to
1. boot into recovery (vol up+home+power)
2. select mounts and storage
3. select mount usb storage
4. copy your rom onto the sdcard in one of the folders
5. unmount usb
6. select install zip from sdcard
7. select choose zip from external sdcard
8. go to folder you copied rom and install
9. reboot

download odin, then pit file from dr ketans post 4, download firmware 4.1.2, flash pit then flash pit and firmware together if pit good.

You need not to use toolbox in first attempt.
Basically toolbox is post #4 of my all in one thread. You just need to look to post#1, see there instructions about how to flash rom with odin. Download stock rom and flash using odin. And if you getting same msg as you said in op while putting device in download mode, don't worry and consider that screen as download mode and proceed for flashing.
If that fails then go to post #4, download pit and flash using pit tab in odin along with rom file.

Issue is connection, device is not connected so nothing to do with rom.
Try other machine if you can manage.
Have you installed usb driver /kies?
If you have kies then uninstall and just install usb driver (get from toolbox on my signature)

In download mode it doesn't make any difference you have checked debugging or not.
You can use download mode even in soft bricked device, that will make sense, no meaning to use any option in device setting.

Are you sure your device is in download mode?
After Vol down +home +power you will get warning screen after that pressing Vol up brings real download mode. Make sure while flashing device screen shows downloading.. Dont turn off target msg.

When you see warning screen and ask you to press Vol up for download mode, do that
Now you will able to see screen showing downloading... Dont turn off msg on screen
Now open odin on PC
Point pda tab for tar file of rom
At this time connect device
When you see color change on Id com, hit start
Wait untill nox show pass.

Still connection issue
Try other cable if you have. Or manage for other pc.
Connect on backside of usb port on PC. And don't use any extension cable and directly connect device to PC with single cable.
This is connection issue, and nothing to do with rom /pit file, as it's role even not started.

it is possible that the problem comes from the phone connection and not the pc because I have two Galaxy Note GT-N7100 including this one that is down and one that works very well and is recognized by the PC and the drivers to each connection

I really dont know why this device got in this situation, But Im trying to find a way to reFlash and run it again.
I've searched on internet and this is anything I have got:
It must flash with a box or something like that! (I HAVE NOT ANY BOX OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT, Just a Flash programmer!)
It is possible to repair BOOT with a PC

Though these threads are not for SM-T211, but according to these threads, if you somehow gets your bootloader on an external sdcard and after unknown number of trials, you may boot to download mode and then you can flash stock firmware and your device may get recovered back to life

Actually, I am not a pro at this, I don't know about these files,
May be some other dev might help! But I am not the one that can help you any further because I have no idea what to do, but if you need anything from a working t211, I can help you with that

i got the same issue with a SM-T212
i am not sure about the reason, but several things to know:
-dropped the tablet and had to replace touchscreen (broken)
-after accident, wifi and bluetooth was not working but mobile was ok (3G data and voice/phone etc)
-to be sure about wifi-bluetooth (hardware or software?) installed another firmware version (a pre-rooted stock), they still not working
sometimes (randomly) it turns off and when i try to turn on, it comes up with a droid icon on screen
few days ago it turned off again but didnt come back
- tried charging, no response on screen
- connected to computer, no response on screen or in device manager
- tried button combinations (DL mode, recovery, all buttons together, 1 by 1, with usb or charger connected, etc), no response
- left it on charger for a full night
- connected it to the computer, pressed power switch for a good while, then plugged off usb then plugged in again
- got an unknown device:
emei (VID_1286&PID_8164)
- while still connected i pressed power switch for like 1 minute, nothing changed
- while still pressing power, plugged off usb
- without pressing any button, i plugged in usb again
- it turned on with a battery empty screen
- connected to charger, turned on with a battery empty screen, i left it for 5 minutes then power button shortly to see battery status, turned on with a battery full screen
- turned it on normally
it is working now, but still dont know the real reason or how i did get it working so i wrote almost everything i can remember
(probably usb connection with computer triggered something so it turned on)

I am afraid that there is no solution. the same thing happen with a galaxy tab 3 lite. something died inside. probably NAND chips. recycle it dude. sorry

I have been searching and reading quite a bit here on the forums trying to find an answer to this problem. I haven't found a thread that answers my question, though I've seen many threads with different things I can try. I explain the problem and what I've tried to do to fix the problem here.
The problem:
I decided to give IronRom a try on my tablet. I installed the following:

Everything worked great for about 2 weeks. However, one day I went to turn on the tablet and I was stuck in a boot loop. I could get to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S screen but no further before the tablet would reboot.

1. First I tried going into TWRP to do a full wipe. I cannot get the tablet to enter recovery mode. Power/Home/Volume Up does nothing. I can get the tablet to enter download mode through Power/Home/Volume Down.
2. Using Odin I tried reflashing TWRP but no matter what I did, I couldn't get into recovery.
3. Using Odin I went over to SamMobile and got my stock rom. I flashed it and according to Odin, it was a success. But when it auto rebooted, it brought up the Samsung screen once, rebooted and now I'm stuck with the logo screen on all the time. Holding the power button does not turn the tablet off. I can still get into download mode though.

hi, just buy a micro USB JIG on eBay and you will get into the download mode to flash a stock rom with Odin... I did have the same problem and I solve it with the JIG !:good:

I appreciate the reply, but I am already able to get into download mode and can connect my tablet using Odin. I was even able to flash the stock rom as the photo in my post showed. So I'm a little confused. How is a jig going to help me? Isn't that just for accessing download mode?
What I cannot access is recovery.

Do you have android SDK tools installed on your PC? If you do you can connect your tablet to your PC via USB and enter in the command prompt, "adb reboot recovery". If it reboots to recovery you can try doing a factory reset.

I don't, but I'd be very happy for a little info on how that process works. Do you know of a guide for that off hand? I can google it course .

If you're new to it, it may seem a little complicated at first but really isn't. Here is a good start on XDA that explains a lot. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790 There are links there for the software. One tip, if you know how to add a folder to your Window's path, add the folder with the sdk files to it. That way you can run the command anywhere on your PC. If not, open the folder with the files, hold the shift key and right click in the folder and choose "open command window here" I was able to fix an ASUS tablet that I almost threw away because of a similar issue. Good luck.

Just a question. If I cannot get the device to boot past the samsung screen, and I can only get into download mode on the device, how am I supposed to get the SDK tools to connect to my device?
Odin will connect, but my computer doesn't recognize the tablet as a storage device or anything. Maybe I'm just not understanding how SDK works. All I'm getting are errors saying no device was found.

I haven't been using ADB for awhile and I forgot the particulars. I just tried ADB rebooting to recovery from download mode and it doesn't work. Did you enable USB debugging in Developers options? If not in setting go to about device, tap on build number about 7 times and it will let you access Developers options, there you can enable USB debugging. You may also need to install drivers for your tablet if you already haven't. I forgot did you say your tablet reboots to download mode or you use your buttons? If you can get to any screen besides download you can try ADB reboot to recovery from there. There is a lot of things you can do like install recoveries if you can only get ADB and fastboot to recognize your tablet. There are other people who are way more knowledgeable with ADB than I am. Maybe you can search around for advice. Sorry if I got your hopes up and it doesn't work but I guess it never hurts to try.
