I bought my S3 on july and no flaw what so ever, I used to play PPSSPP, I would say its a battery draining app cuz I needed the phone at full power to play, I could play while changing and the battery actually charged, but now. Even by using Mango (which doesn't need much resources) and power saving turned on, plugged in and the phone's charge drops instead of rising. Any idea as to why?

yes, im rooted. in terms of what im using: i am running Official Android 4.3, dont know about Bootloader or Modem, sorry
Im rooted and on 4.3 and I can go from 100% to 30% in a little over 4 hours. The only way I can get my phone to charge now is through a wall charger. Even then its taking forever. Not like it was before when I was on 4.2

my phone only accepts OEM Samsung chargers (cant use any other charge cable or box), and a really good wall plug in order to charge
That happens to me sometimes too but usually it charges normally after a reboot.

I am having the exact same problem and can't figure it out. I try to recalibrate the phone before as soon as I unplug it, but it drops down below 100% as soon as I unplug it from the wall charger that came with the phone
This JUST started happening to me this morning.
My phone has been doing this for awhile just keep an eye on how long the battery lasts if its still the same then no worries otherwise contact service provider

I get to 100% from both USB and the wall chargher (although I don't use the Samsung charger, I use one from a Bluetooth).
After unplugging, I stay at 100% for a few minutes, then it drops to 99%... Which makes sense, because the instant you unplug it, its obviously not charged 100% anymore.

And the reason I've had the phone for a week now and it just started happening this morning?
(not rooted)
Phone not charging to 100% is actually a good thing.
There's a website I read I think from this forums in another thread or somewhere else but basically explained how lithium batteries work. In it, it explained how manufacturers are encouraged to program their devices/chargers not to charge 100% to prevent over-charges. Doing this actually extends the battery life and efficiency. Its also bad to discharge batteries down to 'critical' levels. It defined critical as being anything under 20% and is recommended to recharge phone using outlet than USB at those levels. Anything above 20% is ok to use either USB or outlet and prefer with phone off.
I can say I saw the same thing happened to my phone where it was charged to 100% but once turned on its actually a little under that. I thought this was related to the "Android OS" battery bug but it isn't.
I charged mine to 100% then booted into cwm and wiped battery stats rebooted and it said 95% heres to hoping I get that extra 5%

When I had the motorola photon it did the same as well as the nexus I had. I think they do this so the phone doesn't over charge. But also if it's just started then you may have the battery drain issue I saw on here. I don't have it so I have no idea where it would come from....

You flashed different kernels when rooting, different battery stats shown in each. you should start to worry when your battery shows you at 100 for a while

What part of he's not rooted did you not understand? He's asking if Samsung phones are supposed to reach 99% immediately upon unplugging as stated earlier in the thread, then why his only started to do so recently. Nothing about flashing ROMs..
I've bumped because I noticed this phenomenon only recently on mine and think I recall it sustaining a 100% charge in the past. So it may only start happening as the battery ages: for some, like oosoul, after a week, and for others, like myself, after over a month.
If anyone doesn't drop to 99 straight after unplugging, can you post how long it stays at 100? Thanks

It's not a feature.
It has to do with battery calibration. You should be able to fix this by draining your battery, then going into clockwork and deleting the battery stats, then re-charging it up all the way.
Mine was originally charging up to 100%, but then after I flashed a rom it charges up to 99%. I haven't bothered to fix it because it doesn't really matter, but the same thing happened with my Evo and that's how I fixed it.
Hi I just got a brand new Xperia Play today I turned it on and it had 18% battery life left.
I wanted to ask how long shall I charge the Xperia Play for ?
Thanks
Leave it on the charger until it says 100%. In fact, it would be even better if you let it go completely dead and then charged it. I usually just put mine on the charger when I go to bed and it's full when I get up. I think it only takes a couple hours otherwise.

Because you're device still requires power to run, even if it's in the idle state. When the phone is in Standby and Idle, it will require far less power then say if the screen is turned on but not doing anything. You may have to see if there are other running services in the background (which is most likely the case).
After rooting and removing most/all bloatware, you'll notice that standby/idle take hardly any battery life from your phone.

maybe, anyways I think just charge it up to 100% and let charge for a little more while, and just unplug it and you're Playstation Certified!
So here's my problem:
About few weeks ago, my battery started to fooling with me. When I use it for Facebook, Twitter and normal web surfing, the battery goes down, fast, from 100% to 10% took only about one hour plus. Then I left it aside. Check it again after 30 minutes, the battery went up to 27%. So I think battery was miscalibrated so I tried to calibrate the battery using all the guides I can find on the net for weeks but none worked.
So what should I do? Should I change a new battery?
Did u try calibrate it properly, eg.. wait till its charged fully then wipe them. using an app from playstore is the best way. If u wipe stats when its not charged100% then it will start jumping percentages.

As wedgess said, get an app for calibration. I use 'battery calibration' (simple enough) which works perfectly for me

Well try to underclock it and make the screen brightness lowest. Try to look at the battery stats too as you may have an app which is using a lot of resources of your phone. If you can live without your phone then switch it off completely, try to find the charger with highest mAh output (the higher the mAh output is the quicker it is charging), connect your turned off phone to the charger, make sure it's charging, leave it for 2 days charging like this and then disconnect it, boot it straight to the recovery, wipe the battery stats from recovery. If this is not going to help then I seriously have no idea what else you can do.

Phone's not overclocked, brightness is always low, I used it for texting my gf for whole day, played word search for a while and my phone left 50%, no data no WiFi nothing, When I turned on WiFi and keep using it, battery drops fast. Reached 4% I left it, went back to 16%, continue using, left 4 % again, left it again went back to 10%, then I used it till 4% again, now left 6%. Using stock charger but with different cable since my stock cable is broken. Is that related? If yes I'm going to get a new charger.

Odp: [Q] Battery Issue
Any news?
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
I've been using a Galaxy Note II since early February, and battery power has been absolutely amazing. However, the past several days, I've been experiencing extreme battery drainage. I didn't notice until this morning how severe it really was. I woke up for school at 7:15a.m. and it was 100% charged, but by the time I got in class at 8:15, it was already at 50%. Yes, I was using my phone on the way to school, but I only used Twitter for maybe twenty minutes, then turned off the screen. I don't have any heavy apps downloaded, and from what I can see, there are no rouge apps either. While I was charging when I got home (the battery was at 23% after desperately trying to save it all day) I noticed that the battery was actually draining instead of charging.
I've rebooted and tried using my sister's charger with no results. I set my screen brightness as low as possible, turned on power saving mode, and made sure that it says I'm charging under AC instead of USB. While charging my phone, my battery level at the beginning of this post was 68% and is now 63%.
What can possibly be wrong with my phone so out of the blue? Is it just a problem with the battery, or is there something I can do or at least try? Thank you for the feedback!
edit:
my phone is not rooted
Try to see the battery usage in the settings maybe some app is causing that, also make sure your phone is going into deep sleep. Thats all I can say, I have to admit is draining very fast

Now when I charge it and use it, it stays at the percentage it was at when it began charging. Sometimes when I unplug it, it'll be lower than before. Me too
Exactly have the same problem, I'd like to ask first, are you rooted? What rom are you using? Because that could be the issue, I'm rooted and I'm using nolekat rom. It takes me 10 hrs or more to fully charge and it drains half the time fast. The percentage on the battery jumps higher then goes lower and it decreases while I'm charging and using it and I'm not doing anything heavy. I already tried using the battery calibration app which most people recommend to troubleshoot first, it didn't work for me. I suggest that you try calibrating first and if it doesn't work, reflash your current rom if you're rooted, if you aren't, it could be your charger and I also know my charger isn't faulty. Last thing I'll suggest is try manually removing your battery for 5mins then put it back in. I haven't tried that yet, I need the tools still. Hope this helps and let me know what you've done.
