Hey guys, this is my first post to XDA-Developers so I hope I will not **** up something.
I had problems with my P6, because the volume was really, really low. So I found tutorial on this site where someone recommended to delete codec folder
(system/etc/audio/codec)
So I did delete this folder and rebooted my phone, it seriously gave boost to my volume and it was cool. But problem is, people have troubles to hear me. They don't hear me clear while I'm calling with them, weird thing is, it only does when I'm calling via classic calling, when I'm calling with Viber, I sound clear. So if you somehow help me, how to stay with boosted volume but with clear calling again, I would be really glad. Otherwise, can someone please upload original "codec" folder? Because I would rather have lower sound than issue where no one can hear me.
Also, this site is awesome, so much helpful advices here! Thank you, stay awesome!
That can be a common issue, I would recommend installing the rom again, a suggestion would be to use the china b188 as volume is much louder

I would like to try adding back that folder before reinstalling whole phone..Because installing the rom again is basically same thing as resetting phone to factory settings right?

Okay, well, how can I reset my rom then? Can I do it from phone?
Guys, I would still rather appreciate if someone just take a minute and upload that codec folder. I will give you a cutest picture of cat on the internet. And if it doesn't help, then I will probably have to reset phone to factory settings.

If u do factory restet it will not put back codec folder. ( from where he will get it, u deleted it )
To get all back to stock u must update your phone with some stock rom and then u will get back that codec folder.
u sugess to use B122 or B118 what can be found on XDA
And next time read all topic not only first page, in that topic can find 2 more sugestions how tune up heanphones sound.

Hello all,
So I bought my HTC Wildfire S Virgin Mobile on black friday like everybody else. I waited a few days and then rooted. And then I had the brilliant idea to try installing the CM 7.1 Mod for it. And well, I didn't do a Clockwork Backup, and well, it didnt work very well. The phone got stuck on the HTC screen. So finally I installed a different ROM, JikantaruROM, and I managed to get past the bootscreen but I can't use my carrier anymore. So I was wondering if anybody could either tell me how to flash CM 7.1 Unoffical release to my phone, or if anybody knew a way I could get back to the original Virgin Mobile software. It seems that you have all the other stock roms, so I would REALLY appreciate if someone could share the Virgin Mobile rom too.
Thanks in advance,
Wieland959
Seconded. Although I think mine is in a slightly worse case; I kept flashing roms and ended up in a state where it turns on, screen remains black, then the phone vibrates three times and evidently does nothing. So Wieland959, I'd advise you to stop flashing until someone posts the ROM.
And if someone could let me know how to recover from my current state, I'd very much appreciate it.

Your in the same boat I was just in. My solution was to go back to radioshack with the receipt and tell them it just turned off and wouldnt turn back on. Just doing the 3 vibrations. I did spend hours trying to search about how to fix it, but I dont think theres a way unless you use a jtag hookup and some sort of fancy programmer.
@Wieland959, If you want. I just tried to do the OTA update through the settings on the phone itself. It would let me download the file(I believe it should be flashable through the cwm recovery), but when I tried to let the phone install the file, I would get the android with the exclamation mark after the reboot. Ill try to post here, if it will upload. But......
DISCLAIMER!!!!
I take no responsibility for anyone damaging their phone using the file here. This file, as far as I know, should only work with the Wildfire S Virgin Mobile USA CDMA model A510C as this is the phone the file was downloaded from.
Thank you for the file, but I couldn't flash it. What might work though, if you are willing is, if you have rooted your phone, to make a cwm backup and upload that here. From there I should be able to recover and then factory wipe my phone. But thank you anyways for the file. I will keep kicking until the phone doesn't boot.
How are you planning on restoring from backup if the phone doesn't even boot?
Sorry, I'm new to this...

from the recovery, by holding down the vol down button and power button. then select recovery.
also, im in the same boat as OP haha
Okay. I managed to boot my phone and am able to send/receive texts. The rom I used? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367701] It seems to work pretty well. However, I would still like to have the original rom if someone could still upload it.
VM USA Stock Clockwork Backup
Well, I don't know much about stuff like this, but here is my clockwork mod recovery backup. It's just the stock VM USA w/HTC Sense. I have realized that I deleted the bloatware, so that's the only thing that isn't 100% stock. Hope it helps.
*Unzip the file before placing on you sd card. (Contains the clockwork folder, which contains the backup folder, and then the folder that contains the backup itself.)*

Is this a good rom? I'm looking for some senseless roms that will work with our version of the WFS. will you post if you are able to go back to the Stock Virgin backup that I have posted? Also how much memory is on the rom that you posted?
With the a2sd enabled, you get 150 to 175. It's nice.

I tried it and found my phone only had 75mb of internal storage available!!! Weird!!
Nevermind I figured out the problem. Ok. Just one question is there anyway I can get the nice clock back from the stock ROM?
Is anybody else having mms issues with the experimental ROM?

Thanks for the backup! It worked perfect for me!
would you mind if i posted the link on another forum? i know of a couple people looking for a backup aswell.
You should be able to switch back with the recovery no problem. Correct me if I'm wrong, but to install boot into recovery, install from SD, select specific, and select the zip of the rom. Also, I don't have my phone on me so the wording might be a little different.
MMS is a known issue with the rom from what I've read. I don't have it installed personally.
@brandonhun, Thank you so much. You're a life saver. As far as the rom goes, it still have sense on it and there are tons of MMS errors. So just wait and eventually something will pop up.

Just a heads up wieland, when you get a voice mail and you try to check it from the notifications make sure it's your number, because I ended up giving brandonhun a call. Going through the activation app and rebooting fixed the problem.

I haven't done this ROM change but if its the stock HTC Sense go to personalize and get HTC widgets (perhaps its get more HTC widgets) and you should find an update to the clock widget. That should give you the original clock plus a bunch more new ones.

Hi all,
I have search , but it seems that nobody have this.
Yesterday, i had trying the new CM9 Rom from Modaco ( not so bad), and when I come back with a Nandroid restore to my daily rom, i had lost the volume in my external speaker ( back of the handset)
I don't think this is a hardware problem because , the speaker works , i can hear music correctly, BUT with a very very low volume.
I have try to flash some boot.img with another rom like ARHD 5.2, and do a superwipe, but the volume stay very low.
If somebody have an idea , please help.
Thanks
Edit :13-05-2012
After a lot of tests , now my speaker does not work any more. It is completely mute in all the Rom .
If somebody have an idea : I need to know if it s a Hardware or Software problem.
If is a software problem, maybe somebody knew a solution: HHHHELP
That happened on my first (unrooted) HOX. I plugged some headphones in and removed them and it went back to normal. Never happened again.
Thanks, but not works for me.
This is my third HOX, and now it is unlocked .
I want to be sure that is a hardware problem, if i have to ask to HTC to repair it.
I would suggest using the RUU to do a complete reinstall of your phone rather than flashing boot images from other roms just in case the boot.img's you are using conflict or dont alter the same files.
You could maybe try this though:

I have relocked the phone and install the RUU 1.28, but no change. Still speaker with a very very low volume ( can't hear the ring ).
If somebody have an idea . I pray for that was not a hardware problem ( one more ) of the HOX.

Seems to me that is effectively a hardware problem.
I'm happy to be the first with a speaker problem.
I 'm tired of that phone. 3 differents handset , with 3 differents problem.
Seems to me that the GS3 have a good futur , with the shame from HTC.
Hey guys, i just got a used M8 and the previous owner hard reset it before giving it to me..
So i lost everything from the internal sd, could someone upload a back up for me?
I'm looking mostly for the items in the following folders:
.data
.showme
DCIM
Download
Music
and the root of the sd..
Thanks in advance for any help!
Of course the previous owner deleted everything , but you lost it.....that's kinda weird because what is your stuff doing on another person's phone ! What you expect ?
If an app needs it's folder it will create it. Not sure what your problem is ?
I didn't had my stuff on the phone. I wrote that i want back the stock stuff that htc put's in storage, like stock photos, music etc..
Anyone?

Had this happen, as I factory resetted (from bootloader) because I was having random reboots. Wasn't expecting to lose all the preloaded media, to be honest I usually weed out any unwanted stuff anyway, but though that surely that stuff should survive a factory reset. Thankfully, after updating firmware the reboots appear to have gone.
Below is a thread for restoring T-Mobile preload I found, as I have the international model I wouldnt be using this but was going to have a look at the compressed archive to see if anything can be extracted.

HTC's response at the link below. I hadnt backed anything up as I thought this stuff was 'built-in' and store internally and so wouldnt be affected. I hadn't really set the phone up properly, which is also why I didnt try to back up anything. So unless someone who is possibly rooted can extract the files there doesnt seem to be any other way of getting them.

there probably is SOME way to fix it, i am sure, but the phone does not even boot into recovery.
Mediatek phones are hard to brick, haha
It is PROBABLY going to give a headache in order to find the needed files, flash the stuff again and etc using the proper way, but PROBABLY your phone will relive again. Try rooting and installing Eragon after a full wipe, if that option is available.

i would just recommend switching to GSI at this point if you really want the mobile data back. i dont think this is going to be fixed till the next firmware update. GSI fixes this. i am personally using crdroid 8.8 it works the smoothest out of all of them. the battery drain is an issue but i can live with it. i dont think samsung is going to push out a firmware update soon. i bet they dont even know this issue exists in the firmware. this is why i never wanted to go with a midranger from samsung. they dont care about us. well.

of course,
ACC u just have to select the number on the CLI, juste type acc on termux and select the option (if u have unzip error with the module, just unpack and repack)
Stratosphere : The module, just type su -c strpmenu in termux and choose the option for reset battery
Root essentials : The app, just install it and select the option
I think the best and easiest way is Stratosphere
(For all of this, you need to charge your phone at 100%)
