Hello guys a friend of me got a litte problem.
His kittien gave while playing his glas filled with icetea a nice kick . The iicetea got on his Phone but it works normal except that the USB Port isnt working anymore . He cant recharge his Phone or connect it via usb to his Computer .
He thought about sending in to Samsung but his Phone is flashed and to revert to Stock we need odin etc .
So maybe someone knows a solution how tto repair his usb port .
May bay ace is broken
So maybe buy a new flex and replace it ?
Just reset binary counter and system status using triangle away app then download an official firmware and flash it via mobile odin app.

Easy enough to replace.
New Flex cable costs less than £10. take the back cover off and remove all screws around the edge. then use a plastic lever to lift the bezel off the screen and remove the Speaker cover.
unplug the old and plug in the new flex cable for usb
I need to do it to my phone however I am using wireless charger to charge the phone and airdroid to transfer files wirelessly.
So in all honesty I have no need to replace it momentarily.

Scenario 1hone unplugged (meaning not connected to usb cord).
Battery icon on the notification bar shows that it is charging but it isn't. Since the status frequently changes from charging to not charging, the LCD screen won't turn off. And when I turn off the the phone, it shows the battery icon (the one that shows up when you charge the phone while it is turned off). The phone is not even connected to the charger, so why is it showing that?
Scenario 2hone plugged (connected to usb cord and charger)
Battery icon on the notification bar shows that it is charging. Since it sticks to that status (charging status, i mean), the LCD screen now ables to turn off. It also properly charges it self.
I thought that maybe the problem is with the ROM i'm using. So I wiped data and cache and installed a different ROM. It seems that the problem is not with ROM but probably the hardware. Can anybody please help? I already searched the forum regarding this issue but there's none like mine.
The phone is more than a year old so no use on the warranty. This is the first time this happened on the phone. Please help. Thanks. T_T

Most likely there is something wrong with your usb port. So more a hardware than a software problem.

I agree with honeyx on this one. It seems to be hardware problem to me as well.

This seems to be a common issue in the S2 threads as well...in almost every case it's been solved by replacing the usb board....having replaced this board in my wifes S2, I have *some* practical experience of this (yes I know that my experience is with the S2 and not the W). I'll look into it and see what I can find out. .....

Ok...so as this video shows.......
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjcucJDzfmk&feature=youtube_gdata_player
it's going to be way more expensive to replace the usb socket on the W than it is on the S2 due to the fact that the W's usb socket is attached directly to the main board instead of being separate to it (as in the S2)......
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.....but unless you're prepared to unsolder the socket from the main board and replace it yourself, all you can do is replace the whole main board.....muchas deneros

Yes. This will be very hard to repair and the chances are high to cause more demage while trying to replace it or to solder broken wires.
As long this is because of broken wires on the PCB and the micro USB plug is in good condition I found the following solution to work best. First make sure the usb plug dosn´t move on the pcb. Else use some superglue to fix this, but be carefull the glue doesn´t flow inside the plug. Secound use some fine sandpaper to remove the layer of isulation paint where the wires are broken. Then use some conductive silverpaint to connect them again. After the paint is hardened use a needle to remove the paint "between" the wires, so there is just paint where it has to be to connect the broken wires. Use a DMM to check the connections and to make sure there are no connections beteen all the other wires. When you are done check if the USB plug is working again like expected.
(Not a native english speaker, sorry for any bad writing) Good Afternoon, first post made in this forum and I'm very desperate to find out why my tablet is not charging, I have tryed with 2 different charges and 3 usb cables but nothing, but when i connect a OTG cable with or without a USB pendrive in it, this will be recognized so i'm not not sure what the problem may be.
It is the chargers?
The Micro USB cables?
Or the Power Source?
Plz help me. Thank you.
Edit: Forgot to add, it will occasionally after several Hours to start charging back, but if i move it just a little bit it will stop charging.

This is your problem: loose USB charging port. Search Ebay for this part, may be cheaper if from China
Be aware that a defective USB port can read data but not charging or vice versa.

Replace this one is easy, just need taking the back cover off, remove two screws from this USB flex FPCB. Make sure search YouTube how to open the rear cover. Open the wrong way, you'll permanent damage it. Don't ever use metal prying tool to open the case.
This one is just an example:

Hi XDA community,
firstly thank you for your all your great jobs here!
I own a P605 Galaxy Note 10.1 2014. It has been "soft"-rooted (through kernel bug, without KNOXing the device) but it has probably gone out of warranty.
I experence some serious issues with any USB-related operation, let me enumerate them:
1) USB Charging: when powered off the tablet charges normally (but slowly), when powered on the tablet charges (fastly) until the screen switches off, then it stops charging.
2) USB OTG: when attatching an OTG cable, the device detect it but when attaching an USB drive nothing happens
3) USB to PC: on a Windows OS, attaching the tablet results in a "Device Descriptor" error, even with the tablet in download mode, so any firmware flashing operation is impossible. On Linux OS there's a similar error, related to device descriptors.
Obviously, when I bought it everything worked fine. Sadly, I suspect an hardware issue... I'm asking you any kind of help: tests to indentify exactly the problem and, hopefully, a solution.
P.S. I've already tried changing USB cable/USB port/PC/charger/mood/wearing/house...:crying:
Hello , i too have this problems, do you run also Lollipop 5.1.1`? Any solution found?
1) If not using the original charger/cable (or non compliant) then there's a possibility thad the data pins of the charger are not shortened. You need a charger compliant with our tablets or data-pins-shorted cable. (you can do it yourself but the cable will only be used for charging)

2) try Es file explorer (remember ntfs is not supported)
3) install kies or try

(just the usb driver)
I have exactly the same case as #1 and I fixed finally. It's because of the bad contact of the usb cable. Open the back cover (gentle and slowly prevent broke it), disconnect the usb cable from the adapter near camera, wash your hand and keep it dry, touch the golden finger one or two times with your cleaned finger, then connect it back with a little push it to the end, make sure it lock firm. ( I also use a piece 3M plastic tape to stick on the surface ). Power on and test, no problem and then close back the back cover. My machine no more that problem again. Sorry for my english not so good, and hope this can help.
With Davidmueller's Lineage and RR there is a (recurring) charging problem with usb cables. You need a cable like the one supplied, where the second GND line on the m-usb plug is not connected. The plug of the white original cable has the contact missing, i bought a recent, black Samsung cable with 5contacts,also working. None of the other cables i tried, did. The problem was there almost a year ago, got solved and re-occured during the last updates.
Results after the replace of the usb module.
As suggested by Jan&March, I tried cleaning the usb module connector on the motherboard. It solved EVERY issue for about 3 days, then they came up again. So I thought that maybe, touching and cleaning the connector, there was some bad contact on the cable. I bought a replacement part for the usb module. It has been working for about 2 weeks before showing the same issues today. I hope I'm helping someone with my experience. Any suggestions?
The pcb jack may have bad solder joints. I never had the case open, but i think the usb and display connectors belong to the components bearing most of the pressure exerted on the back cover. Except the battery and the metal shieldings on the pcb stand out more, which can only be told if you have the back cover removed.

Thanks, so what do you recommend?
That would require re-soldering. It's hard to tell, it's less likely if the connector's aren't among the most prominent parts under the back cover and won't make contact with it. I can't tell from the pics i've seen.

this just did it for me. i think the bracket that secures the ribbon cable isn't exerting enough pressure on the cable so maybe some data pins may not be in contact.
i noticed my usb port became loose for a week now that to maintain connection to a pc i need to put it down because it will disconnect. i also lost the fast charge feature of my phone.
problem also is, i bricked my phone during an update of epic rom.
now my phone can only boot to bootloader or twrp.
whenever i try to put my dead phone (stuck in mi.com screen) the pc would only say usb device not recognized.
even in adb it doesnt show up as a listed device
so now i cant flash anything to my phone, not in my knowledge so far
i have updated all my drivers in pc
should i have the charging port pcb replaced? and where could i get these parts safe?
Have you tested with another cable? I have replaced a lot of micro-usb cables (still early days with usb-c yet) but never a port and it makes sense to design the port tougher than the plug, since the cable is easily replaced.
tried 4 already. the original, 2 chinese branded something and 1 samsung s8 cable

What did you used to open (warm) the back cover? Do you think a hairdryer is enough? I don't have an air soldering station Thanks in advance.

Hairdryer is more then enough, with a little help of suction cup and some thin plastic prying tool. And remember patience is your friend
Guys, I think I have found our problem with replacement boards. At least mine. The replacement board is missing some connectors. Check image

I think I have found the solution to your problem. If you ordered from AliExpress, there are some connectors missing, check the thread. I wait for another usb board from giztop to see if it is different. Check the thread I have a picture to see what I mean. Have a nice day.
hi @comiflor, did the other USB board actually work?

Sorry if this is a grace dig, but thought i would give my solution. I actually bought a Pocophone because the port on my mix 2 was so lose i would have to hold the cable in it to charge it. But today after i broke the screen on my poco i messed around with it, it seemed the port just needed cleaning, i went at it with a tooth pick dipped in isopropal and a can of air and it seems to be working fine now.
Now the pixel 2 xl support ended i am trying to root and install custom rom. But my device is not debugging...
When connected to pc only charging.. no usb options.
I can connect the usb drive and other peripherals
Usb debugging enabled in developer option.
Tried different cables.. different port.. different pc..
Is it usb c port problem or some software problem?
Any help advice!!!
Thanks in advance
I've got the same problem. Many have said they had success with different USB cables, but I've tried dozens without any luck.
I'm thinking hardware at this point, since I finally got the last OTA update and it made no difference.
I'll order the internal USB replacement part off ebay and see if it makes a difference.
I just replaced the internal USB assembly and nothing has changed. The old connector was definitely worn though.
I'll go back to trying more cables and ports. I ordered a cable that another poster claimed worked for them, but I had no luck with it.
For anyone wanting to replace their USB ass'y, here's what I learned from doing it. The service manual on ifixit is a good guide but leaves out a couple of important steps.
Heat is your friend. I used a clothes iron adjusted to 160F. The phone dissipates heat quickly so you may need to heat it several times. Place a towel over the screen and set the iron on it. I used guitar picks to pry up the screen and keep it separated while I heated the other sides.
The screen cable connection covers are hard to remove and you'll probably need a to use a metal spudger.
Heat the back of the phone to help remove the loudspeaker ass'y without damaging it, and again to remove the old cable ass'y.
The replacement ass'y I got had adhesive applied for the center of the cable, but not the adhesive foam pad under the antenna connector, so heat and scrape between the pad and phone body to remove it intact for reuse.
My old antenna connector partially came off in the white antenna connector and it was very hard to see what was wrong even under strong magnification.
You'll need a new screen adhesive sheet to reattach the screen securely.
Both parts came from a seller on ebay. Dougsgadgets was the only one that had both parts in stock. I think I paid $11 and they shipped quickly.
Good luck!
