okay heres the deal my phone has been acting up alot... and the other day i swapped batteries and at that my phone refused to do anything past the htc splash screen, ive even ran every ruu file that i could find and to no avail so i am now having to send the phone in for repair, Problem is i have the s-off bootloader from revolutionary and i cant load into the rom to change my mainver and downgrade so
My Question is "is there anything i can do using fastboot commands to either downgrade the bootloader or make the phone a complete brick so that i can get the warranty repair done?"
You can do an OEM boot loader re-lock.
Android, the open source do whatever you want OS.

Well, bricking it would be easy, flash a radio and pull the cord in the middle of it, or just smash it . Check out the return to s-on guide, that might work for you.

Tried, and no Dice...well is there a way to short the phone using the 4 contacts by the battery so that it looks like a defective MB or Something of that nature... or atleast corrupt the bootloader so that it dont power on and say Revolutionary

My phone was just downloading a file and now it won't boot past the green HTC logo white screen. The last rom I was using was one of mikroms. I have tried to restore from a backup as well as flashing a new from via recovery. I get an error during installing boot.img- I even get errors when recovery boots up. I posted images of my hbootand recovery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Use a newer recovery. I recommend 4EXT recovery touch. Also, you're probably gonna have to flash a new ROM. You also don't need to manually flash the boot.IMG since you're s-off.

I already tried installing a new from, what I was saying is that error about installing boot.img happened when it was trying to install the from via recovery. For right now I'm just trying to get the phone to boot up. I don't think a different recovery will make that happen

Well considering yours is super outdated, it could be. Older recoveries may not work right all the time. Thus being why they released later versions.

Dude, even if you don't think a diffrent recovory will help just do it anyway. You can't break your phone anymore than it already is.

You're on an old radio, too. Probably the recovery is the culprit, though.

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys. I'll try to flash a new recovery tonight and if that doesn't work I'll try updating radios. I'll post back with results. Cheers!
Well Im basically stuck. My computer will not recognize the inc. I have never synced this device up with this computer when it was up and running. Only with my rezound. Either way when the device is connected adb will not recognize the device as well as the computer will not recognie the usb device. Every file i try to push to it in bootloader i get error messages that device was not found. Tried fastboot flashing a new recovery as well as new radios but no luck. Ive also reinstalled htc sync, then removed. Recognizes my rezound no problem
if you have a micro->sd card adapter, place the recovery onto the root of it then go into CWM and install from sdcard, see if that works

Are you saying to install the new recovery zip, in recovery? I didn't think you could do that, and it didn't work. I've tried flashing new radios but it gets stuck on the very last part of the update and freezes until I take the battery out.

The computer does recognize the device when i go into recovery. Then when i run the flash recovery command through adb it says waiting for device. It will not show sending recovery though until i go into bootloader on the device. Then adb shows "okay" and "writing recovery....." It will show this forever until i unplug the device.
Try adb wait for device after that

not quite sure exactly what you mean by that...just keep waiting while it says waiting for device while in recovery? I waited about 20 minutes..then tried waiting another 30 minutes while it was saying "writing recovery" while in bootloader
So im pretty sure the device is just done for at this point. I decided to just try to flash the device back to stock with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599767.. This also just got stuck on the recovery section. Should i just give up? lol
im coming from an Optimus V, which i rooted and romed no problem.
now with this HTC One V... it's difficult. i successfully root, but when i tried installing a rom and failed... now my phone won't start. i tried recovering, it's stuck at the boot up screen.
when ever i boot now, it shows the loading screen to recovery, then tries to boot like normal and just hangs.
i've never installed a custom kernel before, maybe i messed up there?
What ROM did you flashed?
Due to the One V still being S-ON, you will need to manually flash the kernel using fastboot the same way you flash a custom recovery

Boot loops and stuck at boot screen is no problem at all, you just need to flash the right kernel via fast boot

To explain better than if you were using the cm10 made by jmztaylor, it says that the kernel (boot image) is inside the zip of the rom. Until the phone is s-on you will always have to open the zip file of the rom and extract the boot.img (or "kernel name".img) in the fastboot folder on your computer. Then if you are using windows 7 (as I do) just run the cmd, go to the fastboot folder (with the cd command, like mine is cd desktop then I do cd fastboot because my fastboot folder is on the desktop) then connect the phone tu the pc and enter the bootloader, it should say fastboot USB, all you have to do is type in the cmd fastboot flash boot boot.img (or" kernel name".img), when it finishes, just reboot the phone and it will work perfectly! You have to do this with every rom until the phone is s-on!

I have been trying to root my wifes phone and it seems I am getting stuck in the middle of the guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751796
Is a link to the guide I am using. I would post there however it wont let me.
Anyway the problem I am having.
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip 1.09.01.0312_vivow_Radio_PG32IMG.zip Same as the above, do not interrupt under any circumstances (unless you really wanted a phone-shaped paperweight )
On that last step it will not let me flash. When I try it comes back with FAILED (remote: 12 signature verify fail)
I have tried to rename it to PG32IMG.zip and put it in the sd card root for an update however it reads the file and skips over the update without letting me apply it.
I have also tried to flash from fastboot with the original file name and renaming the file. I still get the Failed message
Any help would be great. For now I dont know where to go.
Cant install ViperINC, help
Hello, since I just joined the forum I am unable to post in Development section. So I'll try my luck here.
I am running S-off with twrp recovery. When I try to install ViperINC it fails at the last step "installation" in AROMA. Basically I select everything I need in the AROMA click next it looks like its trying to install but then just finishes and pops up a next button. When I click it just says Enjoy you have successfully completed installation. Below is the info I was able to retrieve from twrp.
Thank you

I have been tring to do that. They say Revolutionary should be self explainitory however. I get to this step
Zerging Root.. This might take a minute or so.. Root Acquired!
Sending in Caroline...
Cleaning up...
Rebooting to fastboot...
When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back!
Waiting for Fastboot...
Then nothing. My phone reboots into fastboot. I left the tool running in the backround for an hour with it stuck there and nothing else happens. I never get S-Off.
Since I have tried this several times over the last few days I even tried to use fastboot during one of the revolutionary processes just to see if fastboot is working and it is. Just the tool never gets me to S-Off. dont know what to do

Yes. Part of the guide requires you to use both ADB and Fastboot. both of them work outside of Revolutionary
also on a side note I tried to do it again tonight as my 1 hour trek. I checked device manager to make sure there were no driver malfunctions recorded by wndows before using revolutionary and while using it.

A lot of people have a problem with the flash a new radio part. If you are following the guide I'd just on to the next step which I believe is revolution. As long as you obtained the correct key from the website for your phone that should unlock your phone to s-off and it'll day revolution at the top of the hboot screen instead of locked. From there If you aren't having any problems don't even bother with a new radio. Just pick a custom ROM, follow the instructions and flash it.

During the guide process I could never flash the radio. I tried flashing it from Custom recovery with the Superuser option when having dev unlock. I tried flashing from Fastboot as its asked. Ive tried renaming the file from PG32IMG, I also tried downloading alternate radios to be where I need to be. I also tried modifying the original flash rom folder so it would not replace the correct radio I needed. Non of the above options work as it fails with 12 connection error. I also tried all those options on 3 different sd cards just to be sure my sd card didnt do down in flames. Without flashing the radio I only got 1 boot into the OS to try and run revolution Tool. It would run reboot into fastboot Fastboot is responsive however after letting it sit for over an hour per attempt it never rebooted to give me the full S-off which also means no custom roms cause I cant flash radios without being S-off to start with. Forgot to add when I renamed it to the PG32IMG and got into boot mode. it would read the file and never give me the option to install update. it would skip over it like it wasnt there.

Yes, part of the guide tells you to go in and turn off fastboot before start revolutionary tool. Also the custom mod I want to use for it would require me to flash firmware and custom radio for ICS. Neither of which I can do with s-on. And is the reason I am tring to get s-off with her phone
as far as I know you can just go htc dev unlocked, with root. download the custom rom that you want, flash it in recovery, pull the boot img and rename it to pg32img.zip put that on the sd card in the main area not in a folder. go into the boot loader. it'll grab the boot image file named pg32img.zip and install it. then change the file name, boot phone and profit.

Close, but you can't just rename an image to a zip like that, in order to go the PG32IMG route you'd need to create a zip with the correct file structure and put the boot.img in that. Instead of trying to figure that out, just extract the boot.img, plug it into your PC, boot into the bootloader and run "fastboot flash boot boot.img" to flash the kernel.

thanks prototype for clearifing my instructions. I just took it for granted that he would put the boot img file into a zip file and I'm not good at all with the commands. I can follow someone else's instructions with them but I won't know what the commands actually do.
I'm having real trouble with my Wildfire S.
I unlocked the bootloader and rooted it last week. Installed the wildchild custom ROM and the jellybelly wifi only rom, as I only want the phone to run one app. Started to remove some of the bloatware. Everything seemed to be going okay, until I then tried to instal XBMC on it aswell (was bored at work and wanted to watch the football!) but that was a big mistake as straight after trying to reboot in just got stuck in the white screen with green HTC logo.
Now I've searched and search this forum, following various tutorials on repairing bootloop, unbricking re-flashing... everything, but nothing seems to be working.
I had installed cwm and backed up, created a nandroid. But it all seems to have disappeared from the sd card, so now can't get into recovery to install the back up. A lot of the guides I've looked at require the phone to be on to enable usb debugging etc but the phone won't start up. Which also means I can't create a goldcard.
The only thing that seems to be doing anything is running the RUU, but it gets so far and comes up error 155, and says to find the correct RUU. So, I found my RUU on HTCDEV, its the UK O2 ROM, but when I un-zipped the file, it comes as a bunch of files and folders, not the .exe as the other one was. So how do I run it, is there another programme I need?
I'm really stuck, and can't find the answer anywhere on this forum.

Okay, so I have no idea what has just happened, but, I tried to get into recovery again and cwm was working, so I've reflashed Wildchild and its all working again. So I guess something from the countless tutorials/guides I've been following has worked.
So, I'm going to start from the begining, as I've relocked the bootloader and unrooted at some stage.

No, as soon as I select recovery using the volume buttons then press power, it goes to the white screen green logo again and hangs there.

You could make wipe from hboot and see if it take something.. and you can install cwm using one package "PG76IMG.zip" in the root of the phone, but remember you will need to delete it
