There is two pin near NFC contacts.
Il you connect 5V wired cable you can charge battery and shunt usb port.
if it is the micro usb on the phone that is banjaxed and it is to difficult/expensive to repair you could always get a back cover that supports wireless charging and a charging pad
Is it phone or charger micro usb problem? If phone port is out of order then you can buy dock battery charger and one spare battery . After charging put battery in phone and keep other battery for charging in dock. If cable is out of order then you can use other mobile microusb cable too as I am using LG phone charger. however one has to be careful as different adapters
you can get those wireless charging docks which uses NFC.
Thanks 4 all da support

So when I have my stock 1800mah battery in the phone my charger shows up as USB in the battery stats. It also seems a little touchy when it wants to charge. There shouldn't be anything wrong with the port since I just got the phone Saturday brand new from best buy. The thing that is confusing me when I put my old 1500mah battery from my SGS1 the charger comes up as AC like it should and i have no problem with the charger not wanting to work. Can someone help me out there

You could have a faulty battery, in which some of the cells in the battery may be damaged. How are you attempting to charge your phone? through a usb port on a computer or through an outlet?
Through an outlet.

Yeah most likely its a faulty battery. Manufacture defect

I'll try a different charger Saturday when I get back from my trip and if it still doesn't show up as AC I'll take the battery back to best buy ty

I also have an external charger but an extended life battery acted the same way. It wouldn't charge in the phone. I fully charged it in the external charger then ran the battery in the phone until it shut off. I repeated this a couple more times and now the battery seems to be behaving. It might be worth a try but if it's the only battery you have, then maybe not.
Well I tried using my cousin's charger and it shows up as AC so I'm guessing it's just something with my charger not my battery

Have any of you guys experienced the charging port on the bottom of the phone not working properly? Mine is not working reliably with numerous chargers. Was wondering if this may be a widespread issue or if it's just me
Only issue I had was that my phone would lock up using a SG3 charger so stopped using it.

I didn't charge last night and so I plugged mine in at work today with only 8% battery left. I checked it later and was down to 5%, my old Evo 3d charger didn't seem to do anything to it. I powered down, unplugged everything, removed battery and then reconnected and it finally started charging. It charges very slow at 1amp but it's charging now at least.

it really prefers the 2 amp charger... it's a phablet after all... try the stock or tablet chargers (with the stock cable) I bet they work wonders

+1 to this! I was having the same problem until I realized that the charger that comes with the phone is 2amp. As long as I charge with that or my touchpad charger, I am good to go.

I noticed that the port may be a little deeper than some cables allow for. I haven't had a chance to verify this, but you may want to check the cable you're using for a good fit.

The real problem is in the charger itself. I tried using an HTC charger and it was a no go. The stock charger is a 2 AMP version and that is the way to go. It actually charges quite quickly on the appropriate charger.

I've used Blackberry, HTC, Motorola chargers... all worked for me.
I've had my phone for about a week and I am also experiencing issues with the charger port. It happens randomly. I would connect the charger and it wouldn't charge but if I try again moments later, it will charge. I also experienced it go from charging to not charging, repeatedly. (My charger works fine, I tested it with other devices)

If it is not a 2amp charger, it is going to be an intermittent problem!
Using 4 different chargers on mine ranging from .5 amps to 2 amps. No problems charging.

So i had my phone for a while and just noticed this. When my battery gets real low I plug it in to the wall charger. It seems that if I continue to use it while charging, the charger cannot keep up with the use and it eventually dies and shuts off. Is this normal? Any fixes? Thanks.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Thats not normal either battery or charger problem. Try to use different charger first.

This IS the correct answer, I have 2 samsung chargers, 1 is fast as hell, the other slow.
It is the charger.
If you're using it faster than you can replenish it, yeah, that's "normal".
Even my 1amp charger can't keep up of I'm playing Ingress.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
That's completely normal
Sometimes you will got some pop up said that power ur using is too much than charger
Try iPad charger, I never got that problem after using iPad one
Thanks guys....yea it seems bad chsrger was the issue. And the new one charges faster...cool.

I have read somewhere that when you charge your phone and you use it that it still should charge.. But when I use my phone while charging it discharges and pretty quickly too.. Is this caused by a bad battery or is my charger broken?

If it takes too long to get a full charge when using the power socket you might want to try to check your battery.

Are you using the original charger and cable? I thought I'd read somewhere that not all USB cables can handle the 2 amp current. I'm not sure how accurate this is.
Original charger? The original charger can provide 1.0A, check what's written on your charger. USB cable could also be the problem. Other tips is to lower the brightness, it will save battery.

I had this problem couple of months back. Changed the charger and that fixed the issue. Try changing the cable or the charger itself.

Glad that you got it going! :good:
I tried 3 cables and two charging blocks and it charges slow. I downloaded a battery monitor app and it says it's charging via USB port even though its connected to the wall outlet. What can I do to fix this? it just barely started.

My stock wall charger slowed down significantly after about 4 months of use. Now it only puts out about 400-500ma tops. It used to put out roughly 1700ma when new.
I have an old HTC mt4gs charger that is rated for 1 amp. It consistently puts out 1200-1350ma when charging the phone from below about 50%. I prefer that charger for most of my charging in a hurry.

I have two note 2 chargers and they both are doing this . I have to keep unplugging and plugging it in to get it to recognize that's its a wall outlet

Have the same problem and cant figure out. My solution is im using neak kernel which allows you to increase charging current which actually helped. It charges a lot faster. Is it taking you about six hours to fully charge?

Only options would be to use a rooted stock rom and flash one of those kernels or buy a new charger.

The usb port is on its own pcb and only 8 bucks to order. My s2 said it was charging when it wasn't, unless I held the wire at extreme angles. It had pins loose

sorry for some reason i can't use the quick reply.
i have found my issue of slow charging to be resolved by using a shorter usb cable. i was using the stock one and it seemed to slow down a lot after a few months. i tried the usb cord my wife uses, which is like 6ft long and it seemed to not charge at all. i then bought a short, 1ft monster usb cable and it charges so much faster. even faster than the stock usb cable
and rednewor
I've noticed that the shorter cables tend to wear out less rapidly as well. Wonder if it has something to do with there being less...well, cable...to get worn down from movement or whatnot. We used to go through our charging cables relatively rapidly, in just a few months, until we moved to short ones.
My last string longcord, though, hasn't been moved from its home since the first time it was plugged in, and is going on about 5 months without hassle.
