I have read somewhere that when you charge your phone and you use it that it still should charge.. But when I use my phone while charging it discharges and pretty quickly too.. Is this caused by a bad battery or is my charger broken?

If it takes too long to get a full charge when using the power socket you might want to try to check your battery.

Are you using the original charger and cable? I thought I'd read somewhere that not all USB cables can handle the 2 amp current. I'm not sure how accurate this is.
Original charger? The original charger can provide 1.0A, check what's written on your charger. USB cable could also be the problem. Other tips is to lower the brightness, it will save battery.

I had this problem couple of months back. Changed the charger and that fixed the issue. Try changing the cable or the charger itself.

Have any of you guys experienced the charging port on the bottom of the phone not working properly? Mine is not working reliably with numerous chargers. Was wondering if this may be a widespread issue or if it's just me

I didn't charge last night and so I plugged mine in at work today with only 8% battery left. I checked it later and was down to 5%, my old Evo 3d charger didn't seem to do anything to it. I powered down, unplugged everything, removed battery and then reconnected and it finally started charging. It charges very slow at 1amp but it's charging now at least.

+1 to this! I was having the same problem until I realized that the charger that comes with the phone is 2amp. As long as I charge with that or my touchpad charger, I am good to go.

I noticed that the port may be a little deeper than some cables allow for. I haven't had a chance to verify this, but you may want to check the cable you're using for a good fit.

The real problem is in the charger itself. I tried using an HTC charger and it was a no go. The stock charger is a 2 AMP version and that is the way to go. It actually charges quite quickly on the appropriate charger.

I've used Blackberry, HTC, Motorola chargers... all worked for me.
I've had my phone for about a week and I am also experiencing issues with the charger port. It happens randomly. I would connect the charger and it wouldn't charge but if I try again moments later, it will charge. I also experienced it go from charging to not charging, repeatedly. (My charger works fine, I tested it with other devices)

If it is not a 2amp charger, it is going to be an intermittent problem!

Ok so I never really paid attention to how long it takes my phone to charge 100%..
So last night I put my phone on the charger at midnight, woke up at 350am and it was at 55%....
It tok my phone about 5 1/2 hours to fully charge. Normal??

Not normal... My son used to keep putting the charger tip in his mouth and it messed up the pins inside my charging cable.... Tried to clean it with a tooth brush and it worked for a few weeks but started undercharging again. Maybe the pins inside yours are dirty? Bought a new charging cable and it works fine now for me...

Mine does the same thing. But I use a desktop dock. If I use just the oem charger and cord it charges fast though.
Adding on a usb extension or using a different usb cord slows it down though.

The computer didn't make a difference, but I took charger out of surge protector and plug directly into wall and it's charging like my stock that charges fine with the surge protector. Can't figure out why stock charges fine with surge protector and jedi x11 rom doesn't. Either way I found my solution.

Its because the dock charger is maybe 800ma output. The wall charger is 2amp charger. The wall charger is best for quick charge. It takes about 1-2 hours with perseus kernel.

Omg I have the same problem.
I tried charging my Note 2 last night before going to bed. Phone @ 60%. Woke up 7-8 hours later and it was @ 97%. I used an extension USB 3.0 cable (10-15ft) after the AC adapter then hooked up a BlackBerry USB to MicroUSB.
I thought something was wrong w/ my Rom since I plugged it into the wall to charge, and if I do anything w/ screen on, it would end up draining even though plugged in.
I plugged the phone to my comp, which uses the stock Note 2 USB cable, and it charges fairly fast.
My problem is I used to have a Galaxy S3 and Nexus S before that, and it never had this slow charging issue with the same AC adapter + extension + usb-microusb setup.
Im having the same problem .... I would put my phone to charge around 9pm with 20-30 percent and I would wake up at 6am and my phone would be at 80-90 percent charging ...

I installed some monitoring widgets that monitor input charge. I think something is seriously wrong with roms. The input rate is 1600-1800. However it is still taking forever to charge via stock oem wall adapter + cable. I have to reboot to have it charge normally. Not sure what's causing it. Will charge fine, but then after a day or so of use, it ends up charging super slow regardless of where I charge.
Just had my phone charge from 87%-93% in 30-40 minutes.
My Galaxy S3 charged almost twice as fast.

I use Battery Monitor Widget Pro. Also Elixir E2 widgets for tiles that show the charge rates.
Mine charges from like 10% to 100% in like three hours. Running JediM13.
Try cleaning your battery contacts and the contacts for the phone. Might help. Maybe your outlet output is lower? If you can, try cleaning the microUSB port. I usually try to clean my contacts regularly.
I don't know much- just throwing out random ideas
those with slow charge, should try getting a new usb cord. even if your phone is charging doesn't necessarily mean your micro usb cable is 100% working. everytime i start experiencing slow charge i buy a new one and charge time goes back to normal. i've gone through 4 oem samsung micro usb cables since my s2 days.
So i had my phone for a while and just noticed this. When my battery gets real low I plug it in to the wall charger. It seems that if I continue to use it while charging, the charger cannot keep up with the use and it eventually dies and shuts off. Is this normal? Any fixes? Thanks.

This IS the correct answer, I have 2 samsung chargers, 1 is fast as hell, the other slow.
It is the charger.
If you're using it faster than you can replenish it, yeah, that's "normal".

Pristine way right? How that can be happening? Maybe you can use fast charge from google play, as sir arco make it compatible with his roms. But actually it is not necessary to do that as you plug in to wall socket. But you can give it a try.

No. That's battery calibration apps. This is fast charge app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nz.org.winters.android.gnfastcharge
Before connect to charger, open the app, give superuser permission then on it. The plug your charger. It should change to ac charge. Actually it function as if we want to charge it using usb and plug in at laptop, or maybe in car that have usb. So we don't need charger that can plug in the car. Give it a try. Cheers

Don´t belive in what some apps are you showing. Take a DMM and check the voltages yourself. Your charger should output 5V and your battery should have 4.2V when it´s fully charged and something between 3.0-3.6 when discharged.
Myabe your charger is dying or its the battery. Either way no software will fix this, nor whiping battery stats which Android is doing on each reboot, nor green Android ghosts.
First check the voltages and try an other charger. Secound if needed replace the battery against a new one because it may also be the battery which is dying where it´s internal resistance is growing and so reducing the charging current.
The max charging current should be around 0.7 x capacity as charging with higher currents will decrase its lifetime.
It´s not worth using FastCharge. Neither for the lifetime nor for the risk to get your battery exploded, as this is growing too with higher currents.
Currently cargers are dirt cheap. You can get one with 1Ampere output for around $3-4. A replacement battery costs about $10-20.

I recently bought a new battery, which ironically is $39 for a non-original battery, whereas the Samsung battery was charging $52... I think the cause is the charger, it has been relentlessly supporting me for one and a half years and I think its time to say goodbye to it.

Yes, I have had already a lot of chargers dying. Disassembled them all and they all are using the same circuit. They are made dirt cheap and it´s production costs will be about 50 cent. The only better quality circuit I came across was from a charger made by Sony. This one was even worth to be repaired but if it comes to the other cheap ones I´m just throwing them away and replacing with new ones.
Just wounder why the batteries are so expencive in your area.
