At this moment the best is MagioRom v3.1 with alex kernel 2.6 PA2, this mix have a great battery and awesome stability and no one lag.
Then, i have to say that all of the roms for this devices are very similar, so you can flash the rom what you want. You can test 3 differents roms and take the best, maximus, magiorom, arhd, project, skydragon sd rom... They are all very similar.
In my opinion for me and at this moment magio is the best because it had been updated so days before!

yea magio 3.1 and alex-v 2.6 pa2 in this combination is the best...but i would say try them out and then look which is the best for you...with magiorom 3.1 and alex-v 2.6 pa2 kernel i can reach 6, if not even 7 hours onscreen time...with little to no gaming ...really great

what rom is best for customizing? on my old phone (wildfire) i had cm7 which had amazing performance and levels of customization but i dont want to loose the stock camera on the hox, It might not be possible but any advice is welcome.
Ive already tried venom which i found rather buggy with lots of random reboots and overheating and im currently on android revolution hd which is fast and stable but not custom enough for me.
You can try parandroid its an hybdrid rom and has stock camera.

Only ViperX. That s it.
Htc One X Venom ViperX Rom & faux123 b004b7 Kernel
I tried venom with franco kernel 12 and my phone was really unstable.
I just flashed renovate and that is good for customizing but laggy on games
i think im just being fussy

Which non-stock* Rom is the most stable???(including battery)
Android Revolution but also Maximus is also a great contender as I am currently using it
I highly recommend these roms especially if you want Apex or nova launch and use Rom Cleaner, works a treat and then gives even better battery
Personal Favorite:
Android Revolution HD with Extended Quick Settings and then Nova Launcher from rom cleaner
Viper rom works for me, no strange issues ... never had the urge to try another rom.

Which ever is stable for you, try and test them and gain experience from them.
All current sense based roms work well. Non sense based such as CMX etc work but not as good as a sense based rom due to closed drivers and such.

I'm giving my old HTC Desire to my friend, but before I do I want to flash the best ROM for a laymen's use, in terms of stability, battery life and speed.
Personally, I have a Galaxy Nexus with JB and I love it - I think JB heralds a new era in which android finally shows that iOS is just hype and not god.
I've seen there are ROMs right the way up to Jelly Bean, which I find pretty amazing considering the age of the Desire handset - however, there must be quite a few issues to iron out, and I doubt that my friend, who will be more worried about his phone working than whether it's up to date with android, will appreciate these issues.
So which ROM would you recommend? Quick answers appreciated cause I need to give him the phone within two hours! Lol
Thanks for your help

Stable Rom
I really enjoy Mr. mephisto and RSK team rom, the 3.5 sense is awsome and the AMAZE cam is.. well.. AMAZING.
I have it for almost 2 months now.
It gives the old Desire a great new look!
and with the aroma installer is super customized.

And is that stable enough without any freezes and bsod?
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
No freezes, running smoother than any other rom i had.
you need S-off with CM7 and 4EXT touch recovery.
Everything is written in the Thread.

It's beautiful and stable, but it's too heavy (read slow) even on fast sd. If you have to sell the phone, just install stock rom (with sense), or an aosp like cm7 or oxygen.
No man, install stock Oxygen rom , create partition ext4 for a2sd. And that is it. Rom is completely bug free, and it has bedt battery life. Speed is great, and no laggs at all !

Cool droid v3 with primo theme.
I have to agree. Cool Droid v3 is the stable and cool GB ROM for me.
Stuck to this after trying many many ROMs out there.

U wouldnt happen to have a working link to COOL DROID v3 ?
The only reason I might even consider changing this rom I'm using would be somewhat poor multitasking. But I think I'll most likely need to finally upgrade to a better device.

Erklat, why don't you try cool droid? I find multitasking good on that one. I had the rom you're using before, and it's one of the best, but cool droid is even better.... I am sure you'll like it.

Oxygen 2.3.2 + thalamus r4 kernel. Use Oxygen r2 hboot. If You need more space, with GParted make ext3 or ex4 partition.
I've found it best combination (almost one year using it). It's not full of widgets like Sense roms, but You can install Fancy Wigdets or Beautiful Widgets for clock and weather similar to Sense.
I put the last stable version of miui on my dads desire, and it runs perfectly so far. Using the 2.3.7 os which is pretty stable.idk about battery life tho

Hi,
My One X is showing some strange lag issues in some Games. The weather animation is lagging too.
So iam now searching for a ROM, which is running stable and smooth. If possible jelly bean with sense is preferred.
Do you have some suggestions which ROM is the best in my case?
Thank you

Hi, i'm using the new version of miui 4.1.2 but the problem is that i have issues with that version, lot of app don't work, games are slow, i can't search in internet 'cause it's slow too... So I want to change for another rom but I don't know which one is good, i'm searching for a rom with jellybean which could be fast and not use a lot of my RAM not like miui.
Thanks for all and sorry if my english is bad because i'm french.

I'm running mine on ckpv5 myONEv RC9.0 FX+ on top of Maxwen's latest Titanium Kiss kernel.
It may only be 4.0.4 but without a lot of the bloat that comes 'standard' on the One V factory builds, so it does run a lot better.
But there are some, quirks...
Call Volume, at lowest is the loudest, click up one spot, and it's right.
Edit: Just being blind, found the switch for vibration on keypress.
Those are the only glitches, I've found so far, and I've been running it for two weeks, really making sure I put it through it's paces.
