Help(Solved, thanx :) w/ rooting software!! - LG Optimus G Pro

Hey guys, I just recently got my hands on one of these amazing phones, I'm sooo glad I did this phone is a beast!! Prior to this phone I only had 1 other LG phone, but it came already rooted, (I've rooted many phones, just not LG's), and my question is about the software used. I haven't been out of the flashing game to terribly long, but as I read through the posts I noticed folks are using LG software for flashing, and I have always been used to using, "Odin", (except when it comes to the need of downloading drivers, that's pretty universal). Anywho, so am I not up to snuff on the latest techniques, and software, or is this strictly an LG thing, I'm just not clear on that, so any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance guys, and gals

New Epic user root ?

What is the best rom to root? I just got my epic yesterday and I want to root using the latest rom that everyone is really raving about. Thanks in advance!

All roms are rooted
First you root your phone then you can install a custom rom
Ruins don't root your phone u do that through a one click rooter you find in development stickies

Follow the instructions in the top of the threads (stickies) on how to root your phone. Then follow the instructions included for the ROM you choose. Most require you to convert your file system to EXT4 and be on Clockwork Mod 3.0.0.6. So read carefully and post your questions here in the Q&A section.
Do you BONSAI?
Its definitely a big pond to jump into. Rooting and flashing ROMS, to say the least can become an addiction. I have been lurking XDA for a short time now. Owned my epic for about a month until i started making my own changes and trying different ROMs ( when FROYO {2.2} updated my phone began to SUCK so off I went; cannon ball into the pond) one of the biggest helps to me was youtube and the "epic cookbook" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967014.... definitely a HUGE help. also simple problems have simple answers. Many others have asked and can be answered with the search field. After you jump in and have a succesful root & flash you will have wondered why you waited. I am no "pro" but am willing to help if needed. Good luck
As for the best.... oneclickroot either 2.5 or 3.0 are wonderful. however i have had much more luck with 3.0 running ext4. Now asking which ROM is better is like asking which car is best, all types of answers. Really depends on what you want and your "taste"
Yes thanks for your replies. I may have not asked my question correctly. I came from the Hero and I rooted that phone till it couldn't be rooted anymore! I'm just on the Epic now and not sure where to begin and where the best rom I should flash. Hero had cyn 2-.2 and thought about flashing gingerbread but just decided to upgrade to the Epic. I'll check around XDA in the stickies.. thx for your replies and further advice is surely appreciated!

[Q] Ordered the galaxy nexus, what to expect?

Hey guys, just recently ordered the nexus last weekend, should be here sometime this week.
I'm coming from the G2x and from experiencing so many bugs on it with little to no support, I decided to get the nexus.
However I just had this question on my mind for awhile now..
What are the benefits of installing custom roms for the nexus?
I used to install custom roms to get rid of bloatware but since the nexus will come with stock android with no 3rd party apps, is it even necessary to flash a different rom?
Lastly, what type of awesomeness will I experience once I get the phone?
I've had my Nexus for a little over a week and I haven't rooted or installed any custom rooms. ICS is beautiful enough for me. I will probably root sometime down the line but for now I'll just keep enjoying stock.

First of all: !!ALL QUESTIONS GO IN THE Q&A FORUM!! OR THEY WILL BE DELETED!
That out of the way, you should read. This exact same thread has been made ~12,000 times since this phone came out. The answer isn't specific to this phone either. The benefits/costs of rooting are pretty universal with Android devices, with the exception that a Nexus is trivially easy to root and return to stock if need be.
Whether or not you choose to flash a ROM or if you deem it "necessary" is up to you.
First of all ... . No negative Nancy's!!!!!! Help him out and don't be a jackass about it. The phone is great with or without roms. Just enjoy it! Congrats

Actually martonikaj is right, these threads are at least twice a day.
Search is free.
1. Benefits are tweaked out/optimized kernels and the ROMs are tweaked/optimized for speed and battery life. Some have extra options that the stock ICS does not offer.
2. The nexus does not have carrier ware/bloat/ overlays. Its the way Android was intended to be.
3. EPIC Awesomeness!
You'll experience sadness, tears, sorrow. Sorry.

Bluetooth Headset Crashes Dialer After Root

Hey guys,
I just received my upgrade to ICS via my provider (Bell Canada) and there was more bloatware than I could ever want. Therefore, I read the forums and did all the right steps to successfully root the device... thus, removing all the bloatware (!!!!!).
But, when pairing my bluetooth headset device everything is fine until I go to dial from the device. All it does is give me a force close and my dialer apk dies. As I commute in lovely traffic daily, I do need the use of my headset.
If anyone has a solution that would be great. I'm thinking I'll have to unroot tonight. And since this is my daily-use device, I'm not interested in CMW and putting CM9 on. I have a LG Optimus 3d as well and have wasted way too much time on custom ROMs and CM7 lol.
Thanks for the help
k
Holy smokes, you should try rooting and dumping this rom for us

Hello (coming from Skyrocket forums)

Hey Guys, just picked up my new Gnex (gsm) after using a Skyrocket for the past year... I gotta say this phone is incredible, build quality is just amazing and the way it feels in my hand reminds me of my old Nokia e71 (yea I know)... The only downside I see so far is the data speeds on AT&T are pretty slow compared to the skyrocket but ill live with that for now.
One question I have, I have searched this and have come up with no one really bickering about it but is it nearly impossible to root this if you have JellyBean installed already? I have been trying for the past two hours and just cant seem to make it happen using the toolkit in Android Dev stickies... Is there some kind of workaround im missing or is it just not out yet? Thanks in advance!

Everyone has to start some where when moving to the Nexus. Since moving from the GS2 life couldn't have been better

Yea, ive tried rooting about three different times and ive come to the conclusion it just doesnt work, either the USB drivers ive downloaded have some kind of update that needs to be rolled back, or my device is faulty as it says windows is having a hard time finding a hardware ID.

How is LG with the dev community?

I am looking to upgrade to the Sprint LG G2, and the deciding factor is how LG handles the root/ROM community. My current phone is the OG Photon, which Motorola permalocked the bootloader, then canceled ICS. Even unlocked, Motorola had terrible driver support, where camcorders, 4G and more would break on custom ROMs. Being on Gingerbread yet sucks, as such I refuse to buy a phone that can't be unlocked(T-Mobile has horrible coverage in my area, or I'd have bought a Nexus 4 long ago). So I'd like to see the opinions of the OG, to see how support is, and to see how easy it is to unlock. I understand how stock Android functions, but I have a Nexus 10. I'm used to 'fastboot oem unlock' and pure AOSP support/factory images and such haha. Does LG release the stock ROMs or bootloaders or anything? Does LG even use stock fastboot? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to not get burned again(Motorola.....).

The LGOG community has been amazing!
We all here are one big family trying to make sure our device stays up to date with the latest & greatest. I can't thank our Devs enough for all the hard work they put in.

I actually looked here to make sure there was development for this phone before I purchased it, Optimus G running Vectus rom makes me smile each time I pick up my phone.
Its growing by the day! I just got this phone 1 month ago and there was an alright amount of ROMs. but now in the past month there was over 6 new ROMs!! Were getting up there.

I came from the DROID RAZR, and this phone feels like a beast compared to that. Granted, Verizons network was better but I left them on principal. I haven't rooted yet, but I will in 10 more days (return period). I don't believe I will flash a custom ROM right off the bat though because the stock ROM is plenty smooth and does what it's supposed to. That's so not like Motoblur. It was almost necessary to root and flash in order to have a decent user experience on the Motorola phones (I've had 3). I'm pleasantly surprised by this phone and its stock ROM though. If you pick this phone it won't be a mistake.

+1, I have had my phone about 2 months and since then it has gone from a handful of ROMs to 10+, I was even inspired to make my own ROM.
Soon its going to be like the s3 thread.

Lots of development going on! It really is sweet. When I first got here, there were only a few different choices. I had a ton of trouble getting my first builds together(and still do ), but the devs and users here were very knowledgible and helpful. It is one of the best forums I have had the pleasure of being a part of! And we're still rolling out more!.....

Don't play with my heart like that man, lol. I know for a fact that we'll get 4.3 eventually, as well as maybe an official LG update to..... Whatever it is that they're planning on shipping the G2 with (4.2.1 or 4.2.2?). We have a flagship phone with some high end specs. If we don't get an official update for our phones from LG, it'll be because of just outright neglect.
That's what AOSP is for though, I guess.
