My charging port is being flakey on me. I have to move around my cable to get my phone to charge and leaving it charging all night only gets me up to 85%battery. I've tried several of my friends chargers and several of mine ans they all have the same results. It's not the cables it's the port.
I'm trying to unroot and go back to stock via mobil Odin but i Can't find a stock md4 rom or stock recovery so I'm asking is worth going back to stock for an obvious hardware issue when taking it back to sprint.

You can flash this [ROM/RESTORE][!MD4 OTA!](5-10)Quick Return to UNROOTED STOCK WITH FLASH COUNT RESET:
You can use an app called WiFi Transfer to copy it to your phone. I use that; I actually find it faster than using the USB cord.
Good luck!

I use linux so odin was a no go
I tried using it via virtualbox but kept having all kinds of trouble until I discovered heimdall
Then i battled with heimdall for hours because it would fail to upload the recovery to my device, which was a bug in heimdall in the version I was using
Needles to say, its almost 5 am, my phone's rooted and im off to bed

Hi guys, I tried to put a mod on my phone that is on stock rom and messed it up. Anyway I used CWM 3.1 to apply zip at start up and now after it shows the Galaxy S logo keeps vibrating intermittently and won't start up. I was running ed05 so I tried to flash and restore to ec05 using odin and it didn't do anything. The flash took only 4 seconds and says it was successful. I also tried to do a wipe data/factory reset on CWM but that doesn't work either. Any ideas at to how I can fix this? Any help would be appreciated!
Try using ODIN to flash DI18, then accept the OTA to EC05

Don't use the usb cable that came with the phone its a POS. And use a usb port on the PC's mother board AKA back of the tower
Follow this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052813
And if Odin gives you trouble still go to post 2 and use Heimdall. But a bad cable could have caused all your problems.
Ok it finally worked after several attempts with the stock cable. I went ahead and flashed DI18 and it worked. Thank you everyone!
Did u try to flash a different rom through cwm?
Edit never mind see I got it. Lol.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have exactly the same problem, guess I will try to buy another new USB cable and give it a try. Just curious, is it also possible that the microusb connector on the S2 (t989) went bad? What are the chances that the microusb connector on T989 would be "dead?" Thanks!
THANKS
OMG MAN, YOU MADE MY DAY, I was trying to figure out the problem and it was the bloody wire

OMG THANK YOU!!!I thought my phone is gonna be bricked! But YOU Saved my phone!!!!!!!

I flashed a stock rom on a S4.
Took another cable and all went fine.
Is the phone a gt-i9505, i337, i337m, etc.? Did you use the latest stock ROM from sammobile.com?
Edit: @Gerxp, glad you got it fixed:good:

You don't flash it through ODIN. Research and do your due diligence to make sure that your device is compatible. There are also a few zips that I've seen that you flash in recovery that will root your device.
I'm sure someone else can speak to another way if you can't find anything auto-root.

You have to be rooted to use mobile odin. You can't use it root your phone.
In what way is you USB port bad to the point it won't charge ? Doesn't work at all or just finicky ? Have you tried other cables (Samsung cables are notoriously fragile)
Having it replaced is not an incredibly expensive proposition.
yeah i was rooted used triangle away then mobile odin to unroot but after unroot i still have a binary count so i have to root it again to erase the count and go back to factory stock to claim the waranty, the usb port charge battery hardly but pushing the cable works but the computer wont read the usb so i cant root with odin ( any suggest?

I highly sugges you try to get another cord because these cords crap out quite easily. Have you tried another ? Have you tried using a toothpick to gently clean around it ? Does the tongue in side the micro USB port look like it's pushed down at all ?
When I went back to stock for GPS issues I just flashed stock rooted firmware then used triangle away and then flashed whatever came stock on my phone from the factory.
Don't give up but try different USB ports, computers, cords, etc. Enough to get it to recognize it once to get it back

In the old days there were the gingerbreak apps and z4root but nothing like that really exists anymore. I really do dislike micro USB connectors in general
so I don't know how it happened
but over the past couple weeks I've had a lot of trouble with my phone
I didn't notice any issues until I flashed Skynote
it started out as just my computer not recognizing it when connected via USB
but problems have escalated further now
for some reason if I try flashing touchwiz roms 1/2 the time TWRP crashes while doing it and if it doesn't it constantly hangs up during flashing(it took me almost 1/2 hour to flash ultimate internation rom last night)
If I get a rom running the phone is constantly hanging when going through the settings menu.. or if an app is installing it will lock up totally for like 5 seconds
I've formatted thru twrp, I wipe the system every time. I've tried countless factory resets
nothing seems to be helping
anyone have any idea what might be going on?

I have faced similar issues twice after changing a rom. The only way back to stability was to odin a stock firmware on to the note II and then to re-root, re-install a custom recovery and reflash the rom.
You can use this thread to get the files to odin back to stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2275844
Give it a try. . . it helped me!
thanks for the help guys
seems to be running well on stock......I'm gonna put it through it's paces for a while before I get my hopes totally up though
I think I'm just gonna keep it like this until we get some 4.2.2 touchwiz roms
hopefully with 4.2.2 coming out in the coming days the wait wont be too long

Try CWM recovery, not twrp....I never use twrp, , always hearing issues with people using that recovery method...Some phone's just don't like it..lol
And like Greg stated...most phones need a thorough cleaning every now and then to get the bugs out.
With TWRP its always good to have the latest version... it can really make a difference

I prefer using CWM to flash ROMs on my device. I Always had problems flashing zips on my phone using TWRP recovery. It gave me a headache that I had to use the emergency firmware recovery in kies to revert to stock and reset my flash count. Do try flashing in CWM recovery instead and see what's the result.

Hi all,
My phone's USB port does not work at all. I need to get the stock software back on to take it back to Sprint, but cannot use Odin to do so (because of the bad USB port).
I tried flashing the FL24 tar file (from Rwilco12's repository) using Mobile Odin (I checked wipe cache & dalvik, and selected the file in the "System" button), but I must've done something wrong because it wouldn't boot, and CWM recovery was still there. So I restored my last backup.
Any input on why the flash didn't take? Did I use the wrong tar file? Am I doing something wrong in Mobile Odin?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! =)

I have not had to do this, but I'm thinking that if you flash an ICS or GB rom in recovery, you might be able to upgrade to the latest stock OTA available in settings>updates
I think you need Mobile Odin Pro to flash that. Mobile Odin free will only flash kernals, at least mine will only flash kernals.

What's your goal? Upgrade or replacement? That drives much of the answer, as expediency is the driver here. Your phone having a busted USB port limits your options at the store. If it's upgrade, just wipe the dang thing from CWM, remove your SD card and call it a day. You've got a real shot at getting a nominal amount of credit for a busted phone towards a new one. If it's replacement, your options are entirely different.

I decided I'm just going to take micmars's suggestion and wipe the thing in recovery. Initially, I was trying to get the phone replaced because I wanted to delay my upgrade for a few months until the new s5 or maybe the Nexus 5 came out, but I decided just to upgrade tomorrow when I'm eligible and get the Note 2 (can't justify Sprint's ridiculous $350 on-contract price tag for the Note 3).
Again, thanks for everyone's help and input!

You could have put the fl24 stock rom on the sdcard..

Glad you got it figured out anyway... like I said..micmars the man..
