I was wondering if there was a mod or something that could make it possible to switch the sense lockscreen with the AOSP lockscreen. I hate the sense one but I also cant switch to a AOSP rom so if anyone knows anything let me know, thanks.

The AOSP lockscreen is already built in. The HTC lockscreen just automatically overrides it. If you freeze the HTCLockscreen.apk or use a file explorer to rename it to HTCLockscreen.apk.bak then the AOSP one will work on its own. The only downside to this is that you have to unlock your phone to be able to answer a call.

I never freeze it, I always use Root Explorer to rename it. And depending on what ROM you're using you have to rename the .ODEX file for the lockscreen too.

Try rebooting. I used root explorer to add .bak to the file name. Didn't change anything until I rebooted.

Ahh OK.
If it returns, then you're likely on a stock ROM.
Sense Roms are now system write protected.
Meaning you can't modify the stock system files while booted to the OS.
You can flash a script in recovery that can delete them however.
Most custom Roms have the system write protection removed.
You can also use adb while in recovery to delete files.

Yes, that is correct.
Unfortunately there is no way of gaining S-off yet/currently for the Verizon kitkat update.

I have tried seems to be everything to install HTC Hub. I have tried several apks and even tried apks from custom ROMs with no success. Can someone tell me if it is possible to install HTC Hub on stock 2.3 rooted ROM or is there a flashable zip that I can use?
Is HTC Hub Sense 2.1/3.0 specific?
Yes. It is for 2.1+
You can just download the zip with all the ringtones, notifications etc from here:

Thank you but this is an old version and wont install.
You should send either KING or Virus or one of the other devs a message with what you'd like. They are pretty swamped but they somehow seem to try to get back to everyone.
Instead of installing it normally, you need to place it in system/app and set permissions to rw-r--r--

Use my patch if you want for sense 3.5 , it is built to replace the original lockscreen , but if you got it removed it will re-add the patched files ...

How do I do that? And I don't have any lock screen files in that folder. Also, how do I change permissions?
Use es file explorer. Open it up and go to settings, turn on root explorer, then mount file system. To get to / click on the star on the top left "favorites". To change permissions long press the file, go to properties, then it will show permissions and has a change button to let u modify. Download the ROM.zip u r using and use es to browse .zip and copy the files u need. Don't forget the odex files if your rom has them

What is it doing? It doesn't have to install just needs the files copied to the correct location and the permissions changed. Then u just need to reboot and clearing cache and dalvik cache would be a good idea.

Your phone has to be rooted and you need to have any root explorer installed.
1. I'd suggest to back up SystemUI.apk and SystemUI.odex from the folder /system/app and to think about a recovery plan if something goes wrong.
2. Copy my SystemUI.apk into the folder /system and change its permissions to rw-r--r-- (644).
3. Delete SystemUI.odex from /system/app and move SystemUI.apk file from the folder /system to the folder /system/app with a replacement of the existing file.
4. After a successful replacement you will probably get some errors, all you need is to restart the device.
PS if you don't know or understand anything from the above firstly read about it then act or otherwise you can damage your smartphone.
I'm not responsible if anything goes wrong.
That all makes sense, only thing I don't know how to do is change permissions for the apk. How do I do that?
EDIT: using both es explorer or androzip i'm unable to move the file to the system folder. I have no idea how to get it there. Should I try a different file explorer?

Not deodexed, no idea how to.

I managed to get it into the system folder but not into the app folder. Lucky I backed up in cwm, phone kinda needs a working system ui doesn't it!

To change the permissions you need to go to the file properties. After that just cut-paste it into the app folder. Es file explorer always works for me . However it had a strange behaviour when I tried to use 'copy to' or 'move to', so just cut-paste.
Finally got this going thanks to your patience! I had to leave the permissions to rwe and only copy/paste would work for some reason. Had to reset my wallpaper and turn data back on after reboot.
Otherwise all good, thanks!

I know there are thirdparty apps on Google Play....but I would prefer to have the original.
So my question is if anyone have the original sms app lying around..and would be kind enough to post it here ?

Yeah I thought of that to...but this seemed like an easier way.
Anyway...thanks for taking the time !
or use a filemanager and find the file in the rom zip you flashed, it's in system/app/ , i think Messages.apk is the right filename. extract it and copy to /system/app and make sure you've got 644 (rw-r-r) permissions on it, which should be available in the properties for Messages.apk once you extract it. then reboot. between flashing the package again or doing this, you're covered.
I´m looking inside the rom zip file...trying to figure out wich one of them is the smsapp.
The idea is to extract it and the insert it in the rom with root explorer !
EDIT: HEHE...rynfrnk...same thought !

exactly what you want to do! it's Message.apk and you'll want to make sure you didn't delete HtcMessageProvider.apk as well.. extract those out and copy to your phone's storage under /system/app and 644 the files so their perms are set and then reboot, you should be golden.
Done..that was easy enough.....thnx again guys !

Yeah, if you go in system/app and delete lgelockscreen.apk, you'll have the built-in AOSP lockscreen. It has this annoying ass grey bar at the bottom though that you can't get rid of. Also, you can download Mobint's holo lock screen from the market and paste that into system/app

I had removed the grey bar and tweaked some variables back in December. It works on deodexed or odexed ROMS doesn't matter. It's made for unmodified stock ROMS (I was using with exposed mods ok). Just push the file below (framework-res.apk) to the system/framework directory, set permission, wipe dalvik & cache then reboot. You might want to rename your old one first just in case you have a problem or want to go back.
