Tips to make google play works on CM9 Galaxy W
Hy all nice to meet u..
First of all i want to say thank you very much for all genius ppl. Who give their best for the community here and for me specialy.
1. Thank you very much to arco68. For all his hardwork on making CM9 Rom. So we can very much enjoy it. Again thank you very much youvr the best.
2. Thank you to THE-E, for all great tutorial he work on to. That make things easier to understand.
3. Thank you to deecoolist, for make flash player works on CM9. Thats cool bro.
4. Thank you to everyone on this xda forum. For all great things you've made.
Now goes the topic.
I know others had experienced this too. That why i try to share this knowledge.
1. I used Galaxy W, stock rom.
2. Then i try use CM9. Cz gamecih.. lol.
3. After i install CM9 rom. Google play stop workin' anymore. Can open n browse app. But cant downloaded or updated app.
4. Try to find the answered but none i found solved this matter.
5. As i think is a dead end. Wholla the google play works again.
6. After thinking a lot here a got thing that maybe somehow make it works.
7. On setting system/notification drawer/widget button/ flash; normal OR high. Try change it
8. Go to CWM6 recovery : clear cache; clear dalvik cache; reboot recovery; reboot system
9. Install flash player try follow the guide writen by deecoolist http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1857912
10. For me those thing somehow make google play works again. Just try all of it. N maybe it'll work for u too

2. Please answer on question above first
a). posibility to ur issue could happen are:
a.1). You maybe did something that u should not when u install the rom, Or doin' something wrong in the proces.
a.2). U install not with the recomended recovery
a.3). Gapps.zip forget to installed
a.4). If none above meet, What Rom did u use?
a.5). I'm not expertise but i only write what i already doin'. In my case i do step by step and follow every detailed instruction been made and the result. Nothing goes wrong to my phone. And i very much enjoy it.
a.6). I have read bout ur issue. And there's alternative google play which is u can try. Or try flashing ur rom again tho. But do it on extreme carefull cz there's no guarante that d' answer but never the less. Every detailed information u provide it'll be very helpfull for me or other who more expert on this field regarding ur issue n can got a better understand on examine ur problem here.

I have this problem now since the other day. I can seem to install not all the apps I want to install from Play Store. For example, I can install Titanium Backup but not Solid Explorer Beta. I can perfectly browse the internet through my phone though. Why is this?
Had tried clearing cache and data of Google Play Store and Google Services but still no avail. Tried inputting account details from the Play Store directly but still the same problem. I finally I had done a clean install of CM9b1 with no any extra tweaks nor mods added but sadly problem is still there.
LOL mate,chill..Too many questions there that i can't really answer it lol.Ok,I am creating my first custom rom here.And i just copy and paste in the system/app directory then i repacked the cm9 based rom and flashed to my phone to test it and the play store crash.What could be wrong here?
Just install googleplay.apk from outsource ,works. :beer:

It cause by the google play have a strict policy on collecting info about every detail information regarding phone we use to make sure every app we download will 90% compatible with our phone. Every single phone already been registered on google play database
such as:
1. Phone model
2. Procesor
3. Ram
4. Kernel
5. Stock rom
So when we change rom, google play doesnt recognise our device anymore because on google play database our phone doesnt exist.
As example:
Goggle play data:
1. Samsung galaxy w:
a). Stock rom; gingger beard 2.3.6
We change the rom as follow:
2. Samsung galaxy w:
a). Stock Rom: Cm9 mod
As mention above google play not knowledge our phone anymore that's why it'll reject our request to download or update app. Bcause on google play database samsung galaxy w rom should be gingger beard not a cm9 mod

Like i said above to make google play work again we somehow have to make our Cm9 rom to be recognise by google play.
And all the tips i say above maybe somehow make google play think my cm9 rom are gingger beard 2.3.6 with lil modification that google play still tolerate it.
Have u try my tips above?
Or u can try install google play from out sources. But whatever the cases its a very complicated system.
See the global picture "U must make ur phone as similiar as the Base phone model, so google play can recognise it"

1. Very nice job mate. To repackaged n built ur own.
2. Its very hard task to do mate:
a). U must have a complete knowledge on how cm9 been built (which is i'm sure, its very complicated things)
a.1). To actualy gain it. You must comunicate with the builder in this case arco68.
a.2). After u got the knowledge then u must re-code the program (google play) behaviour in order to make it able to run on cm9.
3. Without those above. I dont think it can be done. Because google is a system on rom base. It cant stand alone like others app. U can't just put it on system n hopes it'll works. U must make it united with the system first.

Its easy mate, see bellow:
A) What ROM do u use?
a.1). If Stock Rom. Just do factory data reset. But make sure u do back up data first. Since all data will lost.
a.2). If CM9 Rom, do have any back up data before u install d google app? If any just restore it via CWM recovery
a.3). If CM9 rom not have nandroid back up. Im very sorry u need to re-flash CM9. Wipe cache/Wipe dalvik cache/Wipe batere/Fix permision/install CM9/Instalk Gapps.zip. there i bet ur google play will run smooth as ever. And if u still can't downloaded app via gplay. I suggest u can follow my tips above, if still not do. Try emptying ur apn proxy n port. Or deleted ur gplay account then re-add it.

Hi reinjoy....I'm no dev so I can't answer whether it's possible to separate the (g) apps....but I'm fairly certain you need more than just play store...you have to have a Google email account set up before you can even access play store.....also it is the developers intent to keep our phones as free of bloatware as possible, so it's my guess that whatever is included in GAPPS is there because it needs to be there.....maybe a Dev can confirm this?.....idk, just my guess....

i downloaded the playstore v3.8.15 and indeed its an apk..
first i installed it as a normal apk---failed (opens for a second but eventually closes itself).
secondly, i put it on my system/app, changed permissions, rebooted--- same, failed..(opens for a moment, then closes)
keith, if someday and somehow you managed to install playstore alone without the presence of other gapps, please do share..

Can I make a suggestion......download the full GAPPS package, then use either Titanium backup or Gemini app manager to (initially) freeze the bits you don't want, then delete them after you've seen whether they cause instability (with play store) or not by being frozen....

ok..gonna try this..
will freeze, one by one, all other gapps using titanium..
if found a frozen bit which does not intercept with opening the playstore, then i can delete that particular bit..
correct me if i am (again) wrong..
will report after being done..

Yes mate...that's exactly how I'd do it......but bear in mind that some if the Google stuff MAY be system and MAY affect more than just Play Store....be careful.....if you aren't sure what it does, leave it active...

there is a rom at the development section (the second Paranoid one) the guy who cooked the rom first gave a special gapps which only had Play store.
as you can see here i ask him about the gapps.

i don't understand what swapping between storages can of any help regarding my concern..
i don't want to switch rom, i just want cm b3 with PLAYSTORE app (on gapps package) only..

ull have to flash gapps cuz it has alot of functions other than installing some useless apps, after flashing gapps just install an app called "system app remover" and use it to uninstall wtvr apps u don't need

***UPDATE ABOUT VERSION 1.4.1***
The will be 2 files in version 1.4.1,The first file will be the LITE version of the ROM, that means you will be able to use the ROM just with that file and the you will have more memory(No Walkman with it) if you you want the full ROM just install the second file after the first one has been installed.Google Play Music is included.
The LITE version only has the S3 Launcher and Weather Widget.You will be able to update the S3 Launcher and Weather Widget to S4,There will be 2 files one to update to the S4 Launcher and one it go back to the S3 Launcher.

Themes are added,Set the one that goes with the launcher you are using,to set it go to Setting>Themes to set it press Apply and then Apply anyway.(ignore the screen size error,works fine).Any time you can't apply the theme restart the phone.
Manual install apk files that come with the apps update.
There are some apk files in the System partition that needs installing,Launcher 8, iOS Theme and Skype,use Total Commander to install them,They are in System (root)>Data,More info on the ROM when you install it Please read carefully.
1.Open TL and press on File system root the press Data to going to the data folder please be carfull not to delete anything then go down the list of files and folders until you see the apk files.
2.press on one to install and repeat until they are all installed and thats it

Installing Rom..
First, make sure you got BLADEv1.4_LALE_Rom Update.zip ,BLADEv1.4_LALE_Rom Update2.zip,BLADEv1.4_LALE_Apps Update.zip on your External SD Card.
After that, enter CWM and:
clear data (factory reset)
clear dalvik cache (under the "advanced" menu)
go to "mounts & storage" and format /system. This is extremely important!
install LITE ROM and if you want the FULL version install the upgrade after,(from the external SD)It will take about 5 minutes to install.
reboot your phone.It take about 3 to 4 minutes for it to boot up first time,Please wait it will start up or go and make a cup of tea or coffee but don't forget the sugar,well I have 4 spoons...lol.

Slimbean comes with built in swap app . It just needs two clicks and reboot . Done
Don't get me wrong but I don't think Its necessary.
Also the swap SD app that camcory uploaded somewhere works on both 2.6 and 3.054 kernel

Yes, but when you install a Rom it leaves files on your sdcard, if the sdcards are swapped from the first boot those files will be left on the external sd. However, if you want me to delete it, I will.

I added the Sprint FM Radio App free version to the rom but it come up with "App has stopped working" when you press it in the app page any ideas, it works if you install it..???
I will not be updating the 3.0 kernel version until the camera app is working properly (I don't see the point using it without it) But if you want me to update it I will,it depends on how many of you want me too..

Yeah, i changed back to original keyboard so the problem won't happen again.
A few more ideas: add seeders
Disable CPU Rendering
Change the hosts file to block ads(if you want i could send you mine)
I also have a cool S3 CM10 theme that also affects the trebuchet launcher!!(will add it when i use the computer)
And add Sony Walkman instead of Apollo
How to add these stuff:
For the theme just put it in /system/app and hosts extract it and replace it with the one in /system/etc.
For Seeder you can choose. You can add the apk file to /system/app or the longer but better way: download the seeder.zip attachment and extract it then open /system and add the files which are there to the rom (there are only two)
For the disable CPU rendering i don't really know how to add it to a rom but i will look for it lol and btw it is ONLY for kernel 2X as it won't make any improvements for 3X.

Install AppBak from Market, run it and save a list of all your apps.

Boot into CWM5 recovery. Make a full backup. You will need this backup later if you decide to go back to your previous ROM and data.

Install
Use CWM5 or CWM6.(You must have CWM5 on /sdcard first,Boot into recovery from your phone or turn off your phone then hold Up Vol,Menu and Power buttons
and when the Samsung logo comes up let go of Power button only,
Let go of the other 2 buttons (Up Vol and Menu buttons) when you see the ClockworkMod logo at the bottom of the screen.)
Warning: Only use this recovery to flash CM10. Otherwise, you risk bricking your phone!
Wipe data and cache.
Flash update*.zip.(Download below)
Flash gapps*.zip. You must flash gapps after every upgrade to CM10 since /system is formatted, wiping your previous add-ons.(Download below)
Reboot phone.
After you setup your Google account, reinstall the three apps from Market in order to restore most of your apps, call log and SMS history.
Warning: Do not restore backup data of system apps!
If you restore a bad backup with cached settings in telephony.db in data/data/com.*.*.telephony it can break MMS.
It seems that restoring backups can also break Calendar sync.
Upgrades
Upgrades from previous versions of CM10 are the same process as install, except you do not need to wipe anything. Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to even wipe cache and dalvik-cache when upgrading between CM10 versions. You only need to wipe if you are doing a major upgrade, switching to a different ROM entirely, or attempting to fix bugs caused by bad backups or corrupt app data.

(Sorry I should read more sorted)I m using add free(from Market) ATM but its not working now just say "Hit Fatal Error.. The copy of adFree is too old Please update to a newer version"... Weird I tried reinstalling it and it does the same must need updating on the market..??

Lol i'm new too, try adaway (free from market) best ad blocker, or replace the hosts in /system/etc with the one I uploaded. I am now working on bagux's project he agreed to let me continue it and I will help more of you want just PM me I will be glad to help!

Hi Everyone,
Yesterday I uploaded a completely stock/rooted Telus TLUMC4 build. I received a lot of positive responses in regards to the build (thank you everyone) and I had a request from @Rushing to create one for the TMobile UVMC6 release. After searching through the threads I was only able to find the Odin flashable version of the update and slightly tweaked/modded variants. So, I decided to make one and share with everyone here in the community.
This is the official TMobile T989UVMC6 firmware downloaded from the SamMobile website. I have rooted, installed busybox, zipaligned and deodexed.
I don't intend to add any additional tweaks/mods to this ROM. It is meant strictly for people that want the official UVMC6 release but don't want to have to flash via odin and reroot.
Also, if any dev's or chefs want to use this as a base for their ROM please feel free to do so, you do not need to PM me to ask for permission. However, I do ask if you choose to use this base in your ROM please give me a thanks/thumbs up in the OP.
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS (If followed exactly as below you should not have any issues)
- You must be rooted and have TWRP 2.4.4.0 custom recovery installed
- Download and place the Infamous Cache Wipe and Infamous Super Wipe scripts from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2235141 on either your internal or external SD Card. This will be needed for later. Thanks to @Jamison904 @thederekjay and Team Infamous for this fantastic tool.
- Reboot into TWRP 2.4.4.0 recovery and create a nandroid backup (Always do this step before flashing any ROM)
- Go to Wipe, Advanced Wipe and select Data, System,Cache and Dalvik (then swipe to wipe)
- Press the home button and select the Infamous Super Wipe Script
- Click on add another zip file and choose Infamous Cache Wipe
- Click on add another zip file and choose TMobileT989UVMC6RootedDeodexed.zip
- Swipe to install all 3 files
- Reboot (First boot may take approx 5mins, be patient)
- Wait 10mins after first boot and allow phone to sit (do not log into your account)
- Reboot again and setup your account
- Enjoy

I sure will! I've been on cm10 because I could never get the stock Rom to root for me! I only like it because of unlimited tether capabilities! If I could get stock to do that, it would awesome!

What issues are you having? I am running the Telus version ATM on my S2 and I was able to add my Google Account and Google Play works without issue.
I've had others report back on this ROM and all seems to be working well on their end. What is giving you issues?
Any way to get tethering working in the stock ROM

Might have bad download or bad flash! I was able to set up my Google right from the setup at the beginning! Make sure you've fully wiped and try a fresh download and flash!

ROM downloaded fine... Checked md5 on PC and then on my phone SD card... They matched perfectly fine.
Everything works apart from :
1. No Google account in accounts in settings... I couldn't add my Google account...
2.Location is not working in apps
3. Play store is there in system/apps but with unidentified icon (like a permission problem?).. But no icon in app drawer... Tried deleting this apk and adding one and fixing permission, after reboot it was there but closes as soon as it opens..
I'm using cwm 6.0.3.1 from sk8 and did full wipe for everything before flashing.. By the way tried to do everything twice and same result.. I'm not new to the flashing business lol ..
I'm using at&t unlocked skyrocket on T-Mobile...

I know how a bad download or bad flash would look like... It's very unlikely that a bad download would run perfectly fine and just no Google account to be added..

I didn't change anything from the stock T989 UVMC6 firmware downloaded from Sam Mobile. This is the exact same release you would get when you flash/update via Samsung Kies. All I did was root it, installed busybox, zipaligned and deodexed. Nothing was added or removed from the official firmware.
I am not familiar with what needs to be done in order to get the Skyrocket (i727) to work with Hercules (T989) ROMs. I am thinking maybe there is some conflict there. The official Firmware for the Skyrocket would be I727UCMC1. I could create a rooted, busybox, zipaligned and deodexed version of the I727UCMC1 for you to test out and see if that works for you instead, since it would be specific to your device.
I would also suggest to run the Infamous super wipe and infamous cache wipe (as per the OP) and then try and reinstall this ROM again.
There shouldn't be an issue with the ROM itself since nothing was tweaked/removed from official release. There looks to be some type of conflict though with your device and the stock UVMC6 firmware.
Let me know if you are interested in the UCMC1 i727 version. I can create one for you and PM the link to you to try. Let me know.

I wanted to try the stock T-Mobile jb thinking it would give me better performance with T-Mobile but I guess I'll stick with ucmc1 ROM and it's radio which gives me LTE...(For some reason I noticed the uvmc6 is a hair smoother than ucmc1)..

if you use chrome on your desktop or laptop, download user-agent switcher for chrome then switch to either opera or safari and that should give you unlimited tethering as long as you have an unlimited plan. thats what i do. if you try it let me know if it works for ya.

Hi everyone!
There are a lot of App Ops installer in the Play Store and I encourage anyone not familiar with flashing to make use of them. However, what these apps do is install the App Ops apk as a system app and the device still needs to be rebooted for the user to be able to start using App Ops. I made this flashable zip for constant flashers like me who will keep losing App Ops with every new flash since the system partition will be re-wiped. i take no credit for this and in fact use the following apps to make this:
App Ops by Lars Team
ZipMe by JRummy Apps
Both apps are free from the Play Store and anyone can do this on their own that's why I feel like I can share this legally. If I am mistaken, let me know and I will remove this immediately.
Before flashing the attached file, please take note:
I have tested this in AOSP ROMs without any implementation of App Ops in their settings menu
I discourage using this in CM or AOKP-based ROMs since they have their own App Ops implementation and this might cause conflicts
Always make a nandroid backup before applying this or any other mod
I assume no responsibility for whatever happens to you, your device or your cat after flashing this. Flash this at your own risk.
This is just my way of giving back to the community. Hope you guys enjoy it. A simple thanks is enough. Cheers, guys.
