[Q] problem with sd cards! - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Hi there.
My device is recognising that an sd card is inserted, but it's showing NO FILES at all.
2 different cards have the same results, and both cards work in my S4 and my old Note 10.1, and they also worked in this device YESTERDAY! !
I've tried restarting, removing and re inserting card but no luck.
Can anybody help me please? ? (Got a big journey to make tomorrow and will be devastated if I don't get this sorted)

Have you tried the cards in another device (your old Note perhaps?)

Yes, they work in my old Note and my S4.

I seem to have solved this by removing data, formatting the card in the tablet, then putting the data back onto the card.
I would still like to know why this happened and how I might be able to prevent it happen again?
Thanks I advance.

I used to have the same problem, cannot detect my sd card at all. As it turns out my micro sd cgoard slot is defected. Had it replaced and it's good to

Memory card not detected anymore

Simply put, the card was working just fine earlier today, and now it's not detected anymore. Tried removing the card, rebooting the phone, no results. Using kavana's 6.1 rom, memory card is a 4 GB kingston that I've had for a while. Tried a friend's 2GB card, and it didn't detect it either. My card didn't get detected in his phone due to firmware issues.
Any clues or ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Do you have an external memory card reader? Try reading your card on your pc (or mac) with that. Your memory card may be damaged. I had a similar problem 2 days ago and the card was damaged.

And just as an addition try a format to fat32. "i know 2 x cards not worked but worth a try"
Formatted the card, still sees it randomly (also, it had stopped seeing the contents of my card a couple of days ago. Had to format it, but problems still continue). As I said at the beginning of the thread, when I first encountered the issue I tried a friend's card, but it didn't detect it either.
A while ago I upgraded to WM 6.5 (again) and for a while everything went back to normal. Now it's not working again. Also tried a third card (yet another 2GB card) but it detected it randomly. Could there be an issue with the microSD controller in my phone? Or the reader itself?
Storage card go missing - Samsung sgh i780
It happens to me too. I use a Samsung i780 with a 2GB. The card goes missing randomly. I got the phone changed to a new one, changed the card to 8GB, yet both with 6.1 windows but problem is same.
Please help !! is this a windows bug ?

HTC Desire - SD card issues

from y'day.. sometimes i get the below message when i switch the phone
"phone could not able to backup data to SD card"...
The phone seems to lose access rights to the SD Card, so nothing is displayed in the file manager (estrong or Astor) The only way to fix this is to restart the phone.
in the phone settings-> SD scard option, I still have the option to unmount the SD card.. but then I don't know who to mount it back.. the only way i am able to fix it is by restarting the phone...
from y'day till now I got this problem for 3 times..
Anybody else having problems with this? please help..
Hi, I have the same issuses. It is very annoying, especially when taking photos. I tried reformat card, but it worked only for a week. I have got euro version, firmware 1.15.405.4. I hope HTC will solve this issue together with multitouch issues in next firmware.
I bought a 16Gb card and cannot get it to work in the Desire.
I've tested it in the PC, formatted it etc but it still won't work.
I'm not convinced where the fault lies, with the card or the Desire.
I had a problem once with sd+camera app, but after a reboot everything worked
funny enuff. that happened to me 2 yesterday ?

One of my 16GB cards also got corrupted. I found it did not slide into the SDHC card slot properly and did become dislodged. Check to see if the SD card is inerted correctly. My replacement 8GB seems fine.

I have 16 GB Kingston Class 2 in my Desire and no problem so far, quite cheap too.
I have had this a couple of times.
Install the SDMount Widget. Unmount the card in settings, click the widget, back in business.
I'm experiencing this issue about once a week... :/

This doesn't work. I have the same problem as described above. I just ordered a new 8gb SD Card. I hope it's an SD card problem and not something wrong with the phone
Thread with same discussion here if you wanna check it out.
I've also been having SD card issues since I got the phone but yesterday things got worse!
After the problem occured again, I thought I'd try removing and reinserting the SD card (despite having done this before). When I restarted the phone it came up with a this message on the notification bar:
Blank SD Card
SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem.
I've tried reformatting the card in the phone, with the phone attached to my comp via USB, and with the card in a card reader. None of this works; the computer just doesn't recognise the card.
I've just emailed HTC support with the problem. I'll report back when I get an answer.
Also 16GB issue
Since a few days I have issues with my 16GB card also. I tried to install Navigon on the card by copying files directly to the card. After inserting it into the phone two out of three directories were empty....
Trying to copy fromt the pc to the Desire using it as a disk drive gave me the blue screen of death
I tried to install it using the original 4GB card and everything works like a charm
I tested the 16GB card (forgot what tool, it was a 1 month trial without write testing) and the card came out fats enough and without any bad blocks.
I will do a write test this evening (EU time) to see if I can fit 16GB ont the card, but everything points to the phone at this moment

I've had exactly the same problem which I posted about in another thread. Do let us know if HTC get back to you
Same problem with my Desire and a Sandik 16 Gb Class 2...
The card works fine on my mp3 player, but it is not recognized by the phone. I'm going to contact HTC, too.
My Desire has complained twice now that my 16GB SD card is damaged and needs to be reformatted. But when I put it in my Nokia N97, it works fine. The last time I did a disk check in XP, and that took care of the problem for a while at least, but it seems strange that the problem appeared in the first place.
Having invested in a 16gb class 2 Kingston card for my desire I can tell you that it brings nothing but grief. I then purchased a 8gb class 6 pqi branded card and found it to be flawless in performance. One thing I noticed with the class 6 card is the very fast speed in copying to and from the card. Much faster than the Kingston class 2. On the class 6 card I have never had corruption of data or any problem. I see comments posted that the class makes no difference. In my experience it makes a huge difference.
you guys are having issues with your 8GB/16GB cards, i was considering getting a 32GB a few days from now, after reading all this i'm having second thoughts.. does size matter ? (pardon the pun)
I don't think the size of the card should matter, but then again - it just might. I was wondering if there's a slight possibility my card got corrupted from when I've had it connected to my computer in disk mode. I only use the "safe disconnection of hardware" button in XP, but I don't select to unmount it on the Desire - it shouldn't be a problem, but perhaps that's how it got broken. Or perhaps it's just damaged and glitchy
Make sure the MBR is formatted too. Windows does not do this by default. Search for a tool on the internet.

[Q] Note 2 won't recognize any sd card

Sorry if that's been asked before, but I've really searched all over the place and couldn't fine any solution.
So, for some reason my device stopped recognizing SD cards. It used to work fine until I switched to another card (from a Galaxy S1, if that's relevant), which it didn't recognize, then switched back to my old 64GB SD card and all of a sudden it didn't recognize it as well. I mean, nothing to indicate I've just inserted a new card shows up. Not even the scanning media message or anything. It's like the device doesn't know that I insert any SD card.
I've tried anything I could think of - formatting SD card, mega wipe, flashing stock rom, flashing Philz recovery + wanamlite rom.
Nothing worked.
Thanks in advance,
I'm really at a loss

[Q] SD Card Issues ?

Okay, yes there are a billion posts on this forum about SD Card issues.
I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1. I've tried every single SD Card that I own in it. It refuses to recognize any of them.
I know that if I root it and go with a custom rom that this issue is fixed.
I don't want to do that. Is there a way to solve these problems without rooting my device?
Are you talking about the way KitKat handles SD cards differently? If so, that should have no bearing on whether the device "recognizes" the SD cards or not; its just how apps are permissioned to write to the SD: http://www.androidcentral.com/kitkat-sdcard-changes
Nor should you have to root and/or use a custom ROM in order to simply use the SD cards.
Can't speak to the Tab Pro 10.1 specifically. But on my Tab Pro 8.4, I've tried 2 different SD cards, and both worked just fine with the 8.4 able to read the existing media files on them.
Have you tried formatting the cards to FAT32? How many cards exactly have you tried? Saying you "tried very SD card you own" doesn't tell us anything. For all we know, you own one. Of course, presumably its more than one. But please give some actual quantities. And I assume they are confirmed to work on other devices, but again you haven't stated that information.

Hi
did you find any solution to your problem of sdcard not recognized?
I just bought an SM-T520 tablet(tab pro 10.1) today, and I tried 4 sdcards (sdhc) that work fine on my phone, but none is recognized.
Thanks

I finally managed to fix the issue, i had to format the card in ntfs format and it was suddenly recognized by the tablet!
How do I?

How do I format an sd card like you did? I'm having the same issue when I put in sd cards in my galaxy pro tablet as well.

I had the same issue with my Tab pro 10.1 for quite some time. Tried everything, from formatting with different fs to replacing the sd card.
Then, I opened the back cover from the tablet and it appeared that the flat ribbon cable of the sd card reader was not properly fit. I just pressed it back into, and now the tablet reads and writes the sd card again. Hope this help someone.

M8 Doesn't See SD card {Solved}

Hi,
My M8 is rooted and S-off. My Sandisk 64gb doesn't show up in storage at all. I've tried formatting it in the phone and mounting sd card. Nothing. My wife has the same phone, however the same card works fine in her phone. Also, when I insert the card in a card reader, it shows up on my pc and I can read and write to it fine. I know of the Kit Kat new policy but I could really use some help with this one.
Have you tried putting another SD card in your M8 to see if it can read it?

I did. We have two 64gb Sandisk card and none of them will work in mine but both works in hers. Mine you, mine was working up to today.
Using the card reader, format the card with your computer to FAT32. Some folks have had some wonky issues with the M8 reading their cards (when the cards work on other devices, etc.) and reformatting on computer seems to help at least some (formatting on the phone didn't work for them, strangely).
But the fact the cards work in another M8, and yours was working until recently, is a bit worrisome. Another possibility is that your SD tray is malfunctioning.
I was ably to solve this issue by doing a dirty flash to ViperOneM8 2.5.0. Then once my memory card came up I flash properly and now all is well. Don't how I would make it pass this weekend to the wife that I broke this expensive device in 3 days.
