Hello all, I beg thee if you can help me, my friend "stole" my xda orbit while I was erm drunk and changed a load of settings, inc adding a password. When I was sober he told me what it was so I could use the phone again. But last night I accidently wanted to change the 4 digit number code that you do when the phone goes inactive for like 1 minute...Instead I think I accidently activated some password...everytime I go to restart the xda I get grilled for a password and if its wrong the time counter keeps going up and up...
Basically I really either need to crack or deactivate this password or some how backup my txts and phone...as I didn't before and theres a few sentimental texts I don't want to lose...
I hope you can help me
i think you might be stuck unless you can figure out the passcode!
i dont think it lets you sync your phone at all does it?
no sync
no asks for a password before sync-ing wondered if there was an alternative to activesync that would work??
was about bootloader mode, if you can go in you would be able to flash a (new) rom.....
errr right
you've lost me, last time I did rom flashing was on a very old XDA and ive forgtten..help!?!
You just have to go to WM6 artemis part of the forum, read the topics about "how to flash" and use the last wm6 rom B&B v3.7.
Before that, ensure bootloader mode is available.
Good luck
huh
1 I don't know how to know if bootloader mode is available
2 I think im on WM5!?
If it is a UK model then he can flash it back to the original ROM using the microSD card first if it will not connect by USB cable.
Yes its an 02 XDA Orbit and I live in the uk and it is a UK phone...so I guess I can but how the hell!? lol Thankyou by the way you may have saved me!
As it seems no backup was done, what about trying to ask a repair center if they can "unlock" the password. Of course you will have to show to purchase invoice ....
Thanks, that will be my alternative if the rom flash doesnt work...just need to be told how to do it via micro sd!!!!

I will PM you about the file you need as all references to it seem to have been removed from the site.
You then put the file onto an empty microSD card and put the card into the phone.
When you turn on the phone ho hold in the 'record' button (top left hand side viewed from the front of the phone) and the phone should go into boot-loader mode and recover the OS from the microSD card.
EDIT: NOT removed, just unpinned! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314866
Does it matter if anything else is on the SD card?
Do I need to update to a newer WM5 Rom after as I think i saw that 02 1 is a bit old??

Sorry, but doesnt a hard reset solves this problem?? (if the lock is on the phone) sipmle and quick solution.
If it is the sim that is locked, contact you provider.
Considering flashing the ROM is deffinately going to wipe any saved texts etc. Surely a simpler option is a hard reset?
Press and hold both soft-keys, press the stylus into the reset hole, release reset, wait for message on screen and release soft-keys.
This will return the phone to out-of the -factory state, so again you will loose all saved data in system memory and all installed applications in system memory.

Not quite. Flashing the ROM will erase your "sentimental" messages.

Yes, but it is looking like he is going to lose them no matter what happens.
Just Hard Reset it....Wont ask for the password...you will loose your data on the device though....and if your data is on the PC can sync again...no issue there...but the service centers will not remove the password...I had the same issue...and thats what i did.
cheers
yeah all you have to do is hard reset the pda and then the password will be erased, along with all your data ofc.
It would be interesting though to find a way to "crack" the password or somehow remove or bypass it.....
like some kind of PUK code?
Alright, I'm going out on a limb here, I have no other options, I've tried everything..
I'm locked out, on my Evo.. "To unlock, sign in with your Google account" however, I don't have the credentials for this phone.. The data on this phone I need.. I'm trying to execute the commands
"> adb -d shell
# sqlite3 data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
sqlite> update system set value=0 where name='lock_pattern_autolock';
sqlite> .exit
# exit
> adb reboot"
through the phone's stock recovery console (You know, the one that doesn't exist?) This phone is not rooted, it is completely stock, I can't access the desktop of the phone to enable USB debugging as I am locked out..
Nor can I use Unrevok3d to root and flash a recovery, so as you can see, as of now I'm at a stalemate..
My question: Is there something out there? Like a script of some sort, that I can put on the root of the SD card and boot the phone back on, and have this script/app execute itself FOR me to ENABLE USB debugging? So that I can run these commands and disable the lockscreen? I'm going through all this trouble just to backup the data so I can wipe the phone, but I'm unwilling to wipe the phone if I don't backup this data. The phone will be a paperweight otherwise, and what a waste would that be..
LOL sounds sketchy....

if you can't figure it out i'll give you $50 for the phone

that would wipe the data
Yes, I'm trying to keep the data intact since I need it.. But I am locked out?
Nobody can compile some sort of script? Something that'll run itself? or a script that will disable this perma-lock status? There has got to be something like that, that can be done?
IF this exploit did exist wouldn't that defeat the point of pattern unlock? i mean, anyone could run this script and get around pattern unlock.
so, what i'm getting at is if someone knows this i hope to god they dont post it because every asshole will use it to spy on their girlfriend ect ect.

How many people (Average users) are going to know about something like this if it DID exist? Your average user doesn't know about ADB nor do they know how to use ANY of the commands or how to debug a phone using the SDK..
So... What I am getting at.. Is if there is a no-way-out scenario (Like the one I'm having) Is there a way AROUND it? Like the previous question I just posted? I'm not looking to spy on girls, I'm not paranoid nor do I have a wife/girlfriend and nor do I care. I just want back into my phone. I know there is a way to do it, I've enabled ADB with my G1 from being locked out before, but this isn't my G1..

how do you not know your gmail address and password?
the thing is, if i or anyone tells you how to get out of your totally-believable scenario then that would rape the children of every person that relies in the pattern-unlock for security.
pattern-unlock or not, you should know your own email password

That's actually a fantastic suggestion, however that only works with USB Debugging enabled.. And that's the problem I'm having, I do not have USB debugging enabled and I am LOCKED outta the phone, hence, I cannot turn it on or off as I see fit.
This is why I want some script that will automatically either, disable the perma-lock, or enable USB Debugging mode so I can run the shell commands to disable the pattern lock myself...

Indeed, which I do...
....It's not working, I've tried all my passwords, caps, no caps, letters and special characters (I have a ton of passwords I use) But for this specific account, none of the passwords I have tried are working and google account recovery doesn't seem to be too reliable..
This isn't my first rodeo, I've had problems like this before where I just log in and change my pattern, but what if that possibility is out the window and the only thing left is an Android Guru that can ninja hack my Debug settings?? I'll grab my data and wipe the phone and re-register it to a password that won't tell me I'm lame.
If anyone is paranoid about this whole thing, or someone hacking their pattern lock just PM me so I can fix my situation, and not have to worry about this again.. I don't want to break into any phone but my own. Someone has to know how stressful this is..

I can't wipe the phone. I'll keep the phone on my desk and wait if I have to. There is data on this phone I CAN NOT LOSE, and the gmail account I used I never accessed from my browser, ever. I just made one when I got my 2nd number.
You're sayin that people are out there that CAN help? And WON'T cause they THINK it's stolen? IT'S MY PHONE! All I did was make a stupid mistake. That was letting my sister touch it, nosy little ****.. hahah
I my phone was locked, and I was requested to enter my google acc, so I did, but it was not recognized, My password is the same since I created my acc, never changed, so I had no solution than making a factory reset to get back my cell, but this is not a solution, since I have a small child and he always playing with the mobile, and this might happen again.
If anyone have an idea please feel free to ask any questions to make it clearer

that happens only when maximum password attempts has been reached.
when asked, you have to be connected to the internet coz verification is done online.
now if you want to avoid this from happening again, don't use any password or pin lock.

So, of I'm not connected Noway to recover the lock, this seems stupid from Samsung it should be stored on the phone, anyway I made an image of my ROM. So if it happened again I will just restore. Thanks for the reply

I have CM10 Alpha7 on my phone, and I have a Nandroid backup and already used it and nothing lost, my question here? What if my cell is not rooted? There should be a different way. That's what I wanna know,
if ur not rooted then ull simply root ur device through the stock recovery as usual then install the recovery and make ur nandroid backup or simply just format system and cache and re install the same rom so ur data won't b touched (im not so sure if it will help with removing ur lock but my guess is that it will), cuz if u go to SSC in egypt then they will simply tell u to format ur cell (they dont give a s**t for us bro)

But I guess this way the lock issue will be restored also, I'm only guessing. And the SSC like u said they don't care. This is not the solution I was looking for, but till now its the best answer, at least not telling me how stupid i was, thanks bro

I already made a factory reset, and flashed the ROM again, Luckily and thanks to a friend of mine who advised me couple days before this problem happens, he told me "Make a backup just in case" so I didn't lose anything, and now I made a new Image of my ROM, so what ever happens in the future I will just restore the whole ROM with the settings, but really thank you for trying to help, because every time I ask for help, I must find someone who gives me a frustrating answer, once I was asking about some stuff for my SGW, and someone named Frank said "Your phone isn't popular if you want help get a more popular phone" I felt like oO if you can't help why bother replying, so I really appreciate anyone who tries to help:good:
Hi
So I changed the PIN on my tablet and forgot it. Now I am trying to get in and I cant, I assumed there would be an option to log in with my Google account, but I do not see that option anywhere. There is no forgot password button like most phones for some reason. Is there no option for this at all on this tablet? I've already entered the incorrect PIN 60 times, hoping it would pop up asking me to enter my Google account info but no luck. Is factory resetting the tablet really the only way to get in now??!

It's not rooted, and I wouldn't want to, how do you FDR with Odin?

there probably is SOME way to fix it, i am sure, but the phone does not even boot into recovery.
Mediatek phones are hard to brick, haha
It is PROBABLY going to give a headache in order to find the needed files, flash the stuff again and etc using the proper way, but PROBABLY your phone will relive again. Try rooting and installing Eragon after a full wipe, if that option is available.
