[Q] End of 4G WiMAX for Android 4.3+? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I am noticing that all the ROMs coming out recently do not have 4g WiMAX. Apparently Google dropped support for it? Is there a 4.3 or 4.4 ROM with 4g? What about stock?

No there most likely won't be. Google has dropped support for 4g wimax in any android build after 4.2.2.
The only way would be for somebody to port all the necessary files and code over. Which unfortunately is very difficult.

Yes, stock ROMs have 4G... But those aren't 4.3. Let's just say it's not gonna happen cuz let's face it, there aren't many devs left on Wimax devices and that would take a LOT of work.

Probably because sprint is going to phase out wimax as it upgrades to LTE . I read an article stating it wasn't going to be around for much longer .

http://www.talkandroid.com/31829-sprint-could-have-us-covered-with-lte-by-2013-if-they-decided-to/
stuff like this make me nervous and angry. whats gonna happen to their wimax customers if they do happen to go LTE? I havent seen wimax in my area yet and at this rate...very disheartened
I doubt a software update would make our evo's compatible but i dont know for certain...
one thing i know is that im not under contract and will be switching to verizon as soon as i can get to a store...because i doubt ill see wimax before sprint gives up on it. i have a feeling a lot of customers are going to be screwed over by sprint in the near future...more screwing than what is currently taking place.

I don't see the problem. They do LTE and release phones for LTE. Any current wimax customer will continue to use the wimax towers with their legacy device....

[Q] Rooted Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic Touch Swap

Hey Guys,
So I'm going to buy a NIB, S2 and will eventually root it as I did with my EVO 4g.
My question is: Could I continue to swap my S2 and EVO on sprint's network whenever I want to if they're both rooted??
Yea you can. Your device being rooted has absolutely nothing to do with any of that.

Yes. You will, but keep in mind when you call to get them switched out, they will have to be on a base rom (TW, or sense respectively) when you call.

All speculation and although I cant provide an asnwer, im guessing that problem probably wont be solved until Devs can actually autopsy a working TMO LTE...
Unlike other carriers with working LTE, TMO devs cant fully compare and contrast our phones setup to anything, whether it be another TMO Note 2 with working LTE or even another varient of the GNII with work LTE (as we all know ATT modems with LTE arent exactly conveniently flashable to TMO (yet), or even any other TMO LTE phone.. NOTHING, ZILCH, NATA to Bwork with"
In conclusion, once TMO flips on the LTE switch and devs have a complete setup to work with (thankfully our GNII is the first in line) then note only is that problem solved, but then think how many other (capable phones will be flashing ported GNII LTE modems just to get their LTE capable phones on our 42+...
The flood gates will be opened and these problems will be washed away

Sprint Zone Update? 3/16/13

So, I got this today, after a SCRTN:

Just being cautious, and want to know if this is just a simple sprint zone app update, or the OTA I didn't wait for.
Since I'm rooted on Lifeless 14, and unlocked, should I check it out?
My data is unbearable right now.. Even with the tweaks of Lifeless' Kernel. I would love if it was more than stupid app update. Like LTE.
Pardon my noob jiggle.

I am on stock ROM rooted and unlocked and I downloaded it and was fine. It is safe. I doubt it is different for you.

[Q] Best ROM to get full use out of 4G speeds?

I have read that custom roms/kernels make the 4G connection slow (I have noticed this effect on JellyBAM and other ROMs). Is there a custom ROM that allows full 4G speed, or do I have to use stock? Is it only the kernel I need to worry about?
Thanks.
4G is throttled on every AOSP ROM as far as I know, try a custom TouchWiz ROM, there are a couple new ones out

Cool, I'll do that. Thanks.
I was wondering this too. I'm on official CM 10.1 and its great. The only problem is the slow 4G speeds. I use to average 6Mbps now I never go past 1Mbps
