No this is not normal.
Otherwise the forum will be full with such reports.
And I expect that your game is the issue. This went wrong and may stay in the background and then slow down everything. Don't play it and let us know if this solve your problem

Hi, I have got some problems with my galaxy w. I'm currently using MIUI rom based on CM9 beta 3 and trying to play GTAIII, game plays with 0 lag,but after a while (aprox. 3-5 min) my phone got freeze and does not even close gta so i am forced to re-boot my phone. Does anyone got smilar problems, or someone with an answer would be much better Edit: I have found out that i'm out of ram every time, so could you guys offer me a solution or an app or even a script that works with MIUI ?Thanks for reading anyway.
...
I have the same problem.
Hey,
I got my N7, 16GB WiFi, 1½ month(s) ago, and it was amazing. I was playing games, like Modern Combat 4, at a super smooth frame rate, I was browsing the web at amazings FPS's, just the general UI was so fluid.
The day I got it, I unlocked, flashed a recovery and rooted. I play the game I mentioned above, MC4, a lot and am quite good at it. I though that it would be a good idea to record what I was doing and show the world! (www.youtube.com/user/StealthGamingAndroid if you want to see)
The game was smooth before, just playing, and was still smooth after. What impressed me was that even while recording, it felt like I still had amazing frames.
About a week or so ago, that stopped. I was getting lag, the game was jittery and making the whole thing unplayable, even when not recording. But it wasn't just the game. The whole UI felt, even though it wasn't terrible, sluggish.
I didn't/haven't changed my setup, regarding ROM, Kernel or Processor Speeds since the day I got it. It is running the version of 4.3 it came with out of the box. (My choosing to keep it on that and not update)
The only things I have done regarding root have been using SCR Pro, the recording software, and using Xposed and Gravitybox.
I do not know what is causing this sudden lag, and how I can fix it. A brief search on Google didn't turn up anything that I could relate to. So I present to you my question.
How do I fix this lag?
I do not mind if it means using root, flashing a new ROM or even a new kernel. (Never flashed a different kernel on all 4 of my devices) Over clocking I also haven't done, but if it means removing the lag, I will consider it.
I am extremely grateful for what ever solutions or suggestions you give me, and will happily look into them.
Thank you for your time reading this, and for helping a confused user out.
Faithfully,
-R
Boot into recovery, clear you caches, boot normally, see if that fixed it, if not...boot into safe mode and see if the problem persists, if that fixed it, it's one or more of your apps, you'll have to either flash to stock and reinstall one at a time, when it starts lagging again you've found the app, or remove one at a time and see when it stops, if the problem still occurs in safe mode, backup and flash back to stock and see if it persist, if it does, maybe it's hardware.

That has fixed some of it, but it still feels choppy. (The wiping of the caches, I mean)

I use an app called Clean Maste. You can get it in the Play Store. It's basically like CC Cleaner on the computer (if you don't have it, get it!). Just clear all the stuff in the junk option EXCEPT obsolete APKs. If you know what you're doing, cleaning in Junk Advanced can help too.
Also, be sure to delete all the apps you don't need, and clear your multitasking often.
For a big performance boost. you can overclock your tablet. First, tell us if the other things work above. If not, PM me and I'll be glad to teach you to overclock

Did you try uninstalling Xposed?
When my tablet lags a little, I usually turn it completely off for a couple minutes. This helps me quite a bit.
This may sound dumb or crazy but you got to remember that it's a computer and turning it off once or twice a week will clear the cobwebs.

Totally agree.
Guys I have brought a new canvas a1 2 days ago.. Since day 1 i am getting lots of force close of google apps, games etc. I have just installed 10 apps of my own apart from the builtin ones and they are small apps like yahoo mail, speedtest, etc. Also my phone got stuck into a reboot loop two times on day1 itself so after trying a lot i finally had to flash my phone with stock rom(which i downloaded from this forum) but even after that it was stuck in boot loop so i flashed it again and then i was able to boot normally. Now i get force close and even restart when i open asphalt 8(which i downloaded today) even at low quality setting in graphics.
All of the above is being experienced on stock rom. I have not installed any custom roms
Please suggest help me ppl. Its my new phone:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
it seems like your phone has an issue probably hardware. you should have claimed the warranty if you found bugs in your default rom instead of flashing. you are not supposed to flash, it's their responsibility to fix your device if there is an issue.
Ok, i am working so cannot go on weekdays to service center. ill probably take it to them this weekend.

but make sure your phone is not rooted and bootloader is locked. if it's rooted, make sure to unroot it, you can find tutorials in this forum for that.

Sent from my Micromax AQ4501 using XDA Free mobile app
Thanks for your reply ppl..
Got the device changed for the second time which makes my current canvas a1 3rd one in 7 days
Any ways i wanted to confirm a few things here on canvas a1:
1) Do any of you here get "contacts has stopped working" when you get a call??
2) Some apps disappear from home screen after you switch off your phone and switch it back on(mostly those on mmc i guess)?
3) Slow app downloads from playstore (I have 5MBps pack @ my place and on my other devices like Xolo q1000s, when i download an app from playstore it downloads atleast 3-4MB per second but on my canvas a1 it usually downloads @Max 1MB per second[tried same app at same time] although 1or 2 times i have got 3-4MB per second.)
P.S the 3rd problem was not encountered on my second canvas a1 but its there on the third 1.

I've been having an issue pretty much since I first started using my phone, whenever I open an app that is already in the memory it takes it quite a while to refresh its data and it kind of just hangs there until it refreshes.
So for example I have a stock trading app which whenever I open it up none of the data/prices update for a few seconds.
My Reddit app Reddit Is Fun does a similar thing when press on a post it takes ages for the comments to load up.
I have the adguard DNS in the background that I've tried turning off thinking that might be the cause but it makes no difference.
I've tried changing the performance settings from optimised to high performance etc nothing changed
The only other thing I can think of is maybe because I used smart switch to copy over my previous phone s8+ to this one it may have created this strange issue.
Is anyone else noticing anything similar to my issue?
TIA
No, I have not experienced anything of the sort, apps open at 1 to 2 seconds max, bit I have read some posts that describe some troubles when restoring data from another device, I have never done it, I prefer fresh starts

I agree with you that Smart Switch could be the culprit .....reason is , that on my
Note 9 ,i had this very similar issues , with apps taking ages to refresh etc ..
I also used Smart switch ,to copy my backup from my Note 8 to Note 9 .
I eventually did a factory reset and issue was solved .!!
Since then i do not use Smart Switch anymore .!
If i now transfer my apps ,data etc , re Samsung Cloud and Google combined .
Samsung cloud for my Samsung apps and settings
and Google for my Play store apps, emails ,contacts etc ...
So it's possible that apps ,data from Smart Switch was corrupted either , with the initial backup or re install .
So you have to decided ,if it's worth doing a factory reset ?
Keep in mind there could be another reason/culprit .... also .!
In my case Swatch Switch was the culprit..!
Further ,i have High Performance ,enabled on my Note 10 + ,
and similar to @ winol
I have no issues with apps opening .!!
I have in past , tested "recent apps " feature over and over.
Apps open 9 out of 10 times instantly ...no lag or refreshing etc ..!
Good luck .
Note....
i also , have Adguard install and yes ,it could be AdGuard ,
but for example ...... i had issues with Firefox, not
connecting to a link ...trying to connect etc etc ...
I turned Adguard setting , " off" for Firefox .
( Adguard /Apps Management/ FireFox )
Issue was solved re Firefox .
Thanks for the replies.
Apps open instantly but take a second or two to refresh.
Seems like the only culprit could be having used smart switch to port over from my s8+
Annoying thing is now doing a factory reset and setting up my phone from scratch feels like a complete nightmare lol
