If you are still wanting to run JB check out one of the one click Installers. I suggest the rooted wipe all version. Remember the wipe version will format your internal sdcard so back up anything you need first. These will get you back to the JB file system and got should be able to flash any of the ROMs available here. Good luck

I've done every jb one click ..rooted, unrooted full restore with Odin on my PC. Not one will work. Just stays in boot loop. But ics and gb flash just fine

Well welcome to the community just follow the information the users above posted and you will be fine.. The information can be overwhelming but but far from impossible.. Enjoy your device & wish you much luck
Thanks guys! I'm already learning a lot and look forward to learning more. I'll probably stay away from ICS roms until the source stuff is integrated to significantly reduce my chances of bricking.

The new kernel from the source is out. Its in the wiki section under kernels. Its safe for flashing ICS to ICS. They disable the "brick bug" So by all means if you want to try ICS it should be safe to do so. Make sure you follow the dev's instructions.

Ding is right.. And the other day way which was to mobile odin an el26 kernel and wipe from there to flash your ics rom.. But with the new source kernel out its all good... Just was throwing that other info at you
So what would be the method of flashing to an ICS ROM from a GB ROM now with the source kernel?

From my understanding as agats said in the link below. If you are on a GB rom just make sure it has clockwork mod kernel repack or it won't boot. Flash the kernel on there and flash your ics ROM

Just go into CWM wipe data, cashe, and delvic cashe. Then flash rom. Or use calkulin format all zip. It does it for you. I can't find the link atm but if ya use the search button you can find it.

What's best for nitro p930?

Hi guys, got nitro hd a few weeks later. Till now never rooted and it's still in gb 2.3.5. Now wanted to try something and thought of upgrade or flashing a roms.
So what I need is, should i go for official ICS or cm rom. And as I'm a noob would like a detailed tutorial on flashing/rooting.
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here's my suggestion of how to progress into the custom ROMs world...
1. Read about rooting your Nitro. Look in our Dev Forum for guides on doing it.
2. Root while you're still on 2.3.5 (to circumvent any of the stated issues with rooting Official ICS), also install CWM (ClockworkMod) on it as it will allow you to easily install ROMs.
3. Then try the CM9 ROM nightlies. It's fast, stable and smooth.
4. After you've gotten comfortable with that and have gone through a few nightlies...Then you can feel free to venture forth into the other custom ROMs (MAKE SURE you're familiar with making proper backups in case you want to revert back to previous builds/ROMs), or even the CM10 Preview builds.
Good luck!

Sorry to Hijack .But isnt it like a Pain to Root the Official ICS update ,wouldnt it be easier to root on 2.3.5 and install CWM and then flash ? Im not second guessing you ,I just got my Nitro HD today but been reading that the process to root ICS is kind of long and tricky.

You could be right. I rooted mine back on 2.3.5 so I haven't gone through any of the hassles as have been stated with rooting from official ICS. I shall adjust my original post.
Doble check.
OP double check your baseband version cuase if its 2.3.5 V10j ,it has been stated that its nearly impossible yet doable after many tries.
To be honest, I don't know more details about the android world. Can someone plz link the basics of android like cwm, adb & so I can have some basic knowledge about it.
Actually, I feared I would brick it.

If you wanna try the official ICS, get cwm from ROM manager. Then download honos flash able official ICS. Try it out, if you like it, keep it, if you don't, switch to something like cm9 or cm10 or hono's full throttle or honos aokp, the choices are endless, all you need to do is search .

Try the official ics before custom ics, it's WAY faster than official gingerbread, it's stable and once debloated it's pretty perfect as it is to me.
Then if you want to taste something else, try the cm9/10 but I would let them as a second passage to ics/jb.
For the official rom you can either flashing with lg tool (using the before - after rooting method brianlily posted here) or go with cwm as stated by rani9990, it should be the same.. the substantial difference is that if you don't put the cwm recovery before ics, then you'll need to go through partial unbrick process to revert back to gingerbread, because on ics the cwm won't be possible to install.

Best AOSP Rom?

Hi, I am not new to rooting and custom ROMs but it has been a while and the forum has so many roms that it is hard to decide which is the most stable.
Would you guys please recommend to me the best/most stable/most customizable(cyanogen) AOSP rom for this phone? Basically I'd want the best CM9 rom and hopefully CM10 once its stable.
Thanks

1. I believe the difference between the to sections is that Original development is for AOSP based roms while android development is for roms based of stock or leaked firmware. That being said i dont think that many people understand that when they post and it has been kind of a Cluster f.
2. Are you currently on the OTA? you will need to odin a kernel that has a working recovery with it. If youre going to another rom right away it may be easiest to odin EL26 cwm, then load into recovery and flash because this will install the kernel/recovery packaged in the rom.
3. Ive used AOKP some and its pretty nice but i am one that likes to stay with a rom that still has activity. That way if i have problem there may be a chance that it is going to get fixed. But if you are ok with a few problems here and there go ahead and test out CM10 or sbrissens AOSP.

Coolest Rom?

I tried to install latest illusion and liquid JB 2.4 but dont like them, internet doesnt work on liquid jb and there is also no market app on either one, not sure if its the ROMS or my installation.
Now can any one plese help me to find the rom that has best features (good bettery life could be a bonus).
thanks in advance.
Your install process is way off. There are support threads and q&a's and instructions in the OP of the thread... No such thing as a "coolest rom" try them for your self with proper install procedures before saying they're ugly or don't work.
T-Mobile SGS III
Coolest ROM?
That made me laugh.
You need to go through and pick which ROM or ROMs fit your needs. No one can pick a ROM for you, another members ideal ROM may not be your ideal ROM.
As for the installation process and having certain apps not being there or not working properly, you need to read the first post of the thread, also know as the OP. Reading it will let you know what to download and how to install/flash it through recovery.
Here's some advice that will save you in the future:
-read the first post/op of each thread
-have questions or problems with the ROM? Read the first and last 10 pages of the thread, if the problem isn't addressed or your question isn't answered, then politely ask for help.
-Google is your "friend", usually typing your issue followed by xda in the search bar and you'll find what your looking for

Beats me but I won't give support for things sourced outside of XDA. Not just because XDA always has the best but because I know nothing about external offerings.

Khanbaba59, there is no "cool rom" so to speak. You have to read up on which is best for you, then try them. Be sure to READ the OP on installation process to avoid anything going wrong.
As your questions have been answered, I will close this now as it will cause confusion and bickering about roms.

[ROM] Stock Telus T989DTLUMC4 [06.29.2013]

Hi Everyone,
I was searching through the threads looking for the official stock Telus T989DTLUMC4 firmware update. I was able to find the Odin flashable version of the update but I was not able to find one that is flashable through recovery. So, I decided to make one and share with everyone here in the community.
This is the official Telus T989DTLUMC4 firmware downloaded from the SamMobile website. I have rooted, installed busybox, zipaligned and deodexed. I am currently running it on my T989D Telus Galaxy S 2 right now and it's running great.
I don't intend to add any additional tweaks/mods to this ROM. It is meant strictly for people that want the official TLUMC4 release but don't want to have to flash via odin and reroot.
Also, if any dev's or chefs want to use this as a base for their ROM please feel free to do so, you do not need to PM me to ask for permission. However, I do ask if you choose to use this base in your ROM please give me a thanks/thumbs up in the OP.

Have you tried T-Mobile stock ROM on your telus phone? I was thinking to set up a T-Mobile ROM for my bf to flash but if the telus one is better and less bloated I'll give this one a try.
Can someone that have tried both tell which is better. I own the T-Mobile version and have only tried the ROM from Jamison.

I actually just downloaded the stock firmware for the Tmobile version today, was going to build a Stock, rooted, deodexed version for the TMo guys and gals as well. When it's up I guess you can give this one and the TMo one a try and see which you like best. Typically Telus has less bloat but also doesn't have wifi calling.

Do you think it would be a bad idea to do a dirty flash to upgrade from the official Telus ICS ROM to this? I installed CWM to change radios but am still running the stock ROM. Sounds like a bad idea but I thought I might as well check here

I would not recommend dirty flashing from ICS to JB. Make a backup first of your current ICS stock ROM and then do a full clean wipe and install.

You can also make use of the Infamous scripts to wipe.

I was going to suggest that as well, but needed/wanted to have yours or Jamison's permission before suggesting. :good:
No permission needed my friend...as long as no one reposts them they are free for anyone to use prior to installing a stock 4.1.2 ROM. Feel free bud!

Would you mind if in the OP I mention and link to where they can download the infamous wipes?
