Tested it using stock kernel, and it works fine. Just can't dim the buttons, depending on your kernel.

I have an issue with my galaxy nexus that baffles me whenever it pops up. I am using AOKP build 37 with the franco kernel and whenever I try to reflash the rom or flash a new version of the rom (build 39) everything goes smoothly until the phone has been back on after rebooting for a few seconds. Once I am on my home screen, it flickers off and then everything is tinted pink. After updating to build 39 the screen first goes fuzzy like an old television set with no channels tuned in for 1-2 seconds and comes back on, again everything tinted pink.
To fix this I have tried:-
- rebooting
- wiping cache
- wiping data
- reflashing rom
- flashing a different kernel (GLaDOS)
In the end the only thing that worked was restoring a nand backup.
I am using AOKP's option to change the screen dpi to 280, and it seemed like build 39 was behaving until I accessed this option and tried to change the dpi again.
I also tried a different rom, and cyanogenmod 9's latest nightly performed perfectly fine, but it does not have the same capabilities that AOKP offers.
I have tried searching for problems with pink or purple screens and AOKP on Galaxy Nexus but so far I have returned no exact matches, and nothing that sounds similar to my problem.
If anyone has an idea of what this issue could be, I would greatly appreciate their advice.
Thanks.
Are u flashing franco nightlies or his stable kernels?

Stable versions.
I seem to have fixed it for now by installing the new build of AOKP, a new kernel (GLaDOS) and build.prop editor from the market.
Thanks anyway.
I would use the trinity kernel by morfic.. It has color correction and gamma tuning built it

Now sure where to put this since I'm a noob and can't post in certain sections.
I am having problems with the Trinity kernel. I can't adjust the display options or vibration. I have attached screen shots to help me explain what's going on.
Help please
I'm not sure what ROM you're running but Trinity's settings can be changed via the TKT app from the Play Store or via terminal commands. If you look in the Trinity thread and look for simms22 he has a link to some of the commands in his signature

you are probably using a rom that has a CM kernel..you can only control CM color settings within the rom settings...you can't control kernels like trinity, franco, glados...you need to either get one of the kernel apps or do it manually in the file

I flashed Trinity when I flashed CM10 so I'm not sure what's going on. My phone states I'm running trinity. So....I'm not sure?! I'll look around at some different roms and kernels for fun. Thanks!
The one “erases" the other. You flash trinity, you have to use the tkt app to adjust all that. The cm built in function stops being usable then.
Hello all,
I recently purchased an S3 and just trying to figure everything out for it (as I am coming from the nexus where everything is much simpler) The only real question I have for everyone is, What kernel is the best so far? Something that is optimized for battery life and speed.
If anyone is from the Nexus development you would know about Franco's kernel which has served me well for a long time, So what I'm looking for is something that is like the Franco Kernel, and has customization settings.
Any insight would be great
Cheers.
When running an AOSP JB ROM (like CM10 or AOKP), I'd suggest ktoonsez's KT747 kernel. It supports overclocking to 2.1 GHz, undervolting, comes with numerous tweakable governors and io schedulers, and it comes with its own adjustment app called KTweaker which is very handy. Just don't use SetCPU or Voltage Control or any other such app with that kernel as they could cause conflicts with KTweaker.

The current KT747 for Sammy ROMS seems to be having issues with many phones though, so for Sammy ROMS I'd say your safest bet is faux123's kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785466
Much appreciated. I was seeing ktoonsez's KT747 kernel, and figured this was the "main" kernel for the s3 but I just had to know for sure. What you describe with it is exactly what I'm looking for in a kernel...full control of it. Thanks again
Also on KT747 ktoon created his on governor called ktoonservative. It's based off conservative but it's kicking some serious butt with my device :good:. I'm also severely under-volted but that shouldn't really change much as far as battery life.

I tried the kernel (both actually) and had no luck with either, one caused everything to fail ie: wifi, data, launcher, touch screen was unresponsive. And after flashing in the other one that says it is 100% stable on all devices, I was left with a phone that wouldnt turn on, and when it did start up, the screen was unresponsive. I tried clearing caches, fixing permissions, but nothing worked at all.
So I went back to stock kernel. Hopefully some of these issues can be resolved some day.

Are you sure you flashed the correct version? Both kernels come in ICS and JB flavors.
Also, I haven't seen anyone else with this issue so I'm not sure what happened.

Never seen these problems before.....
Are you sure you downloaded and flashed the right one?
DAMN I MISS FRANCO KERNEL!!!!!!! It was on the note n7000 in a way I wish it could come to the S3
I’m wondering if there is a tool or a mod that I can use to change how the notification LED lights up, specifically to increase the blink rate or increase the switched on time of a blink cycle. The tiny LED buried inside the ear piece grill and the way it blinks makes noticing missed alerts almost impossible unless you look at it very carefully. Ideally I would like for it to blink rapidly or the have the LED lit up for a little longer in each blink cycle, I know this can affect the battery, so it would be nice if the behavior can be customized further i.e Have intensive blinking for the first 30 minutes and then fall back to the regular conservative mode to save battery.
A better alternative would be to use the capacitive buttons (back, home, menu) without turning the screen on. My previous Galaxy S1 had a mod which could do that, wondering if there is something similar for One X. If those buttons can be selectively turned on then I guess that would be more prominent than that tiny green LED.
Flash CM10.1 or ICJ to get button light notification.

Latest XM kernels also include BLN (backlight notification). It's fully cofigurable, including the light level. :good:
Plus, it has all the governor tweaks you can think of.
I Don't know if there's a standalone tool for this
but I use CM 10.1 ROM that comes with this tool included
anyway the control is limited to 2 colors (red and green) and 2 speeds , or you can use it to disable the whole light
and still be able to use hardware keys backlight as a notification light
Thanks for the replies. :good:
Currently I’m on Viper X custom ROM. Last year I installed CM10 but wasn't impressed with battery life or camera performance.

Interesting, perhaps I'll try that, seems XM supports Sense ROMs and I found few posts where people have managed to get it working with Viper X. I'm guessing if I managed to get XM kernel working, all I have to do is use BLN app from market ?

i think there is a tool for this: light flow app.
i haven't tried it on my hox yet, but i had limited success with it on my desire. htcs are notorious for terrible led notification control and configuration, i think. on my huawei ideos i had it configured exactly how i wanted it, but this is probably impossible on an htc ... actually i found this thread when searching for a solution how to manage my own led problems. but according to the discussion here there is no solution .

viper x works well with xm kernel without a repack, and bln works without any app, just enable it as instructed by xm
I have been trying many ROM's and apparently the only one that works the best is CM10. My data connection is great and switching between wifi and mobile is almost perfect. The only downfall is the fact are features that have expanded WAY beyond CM10. I am currently using SlimKAT and I tried to use the SlimKAT kernel, but my data seemed to have never connected. I used the latest Fancy kernel R60, and it seems to work a little better but it's not quite right.
My question is...what ROM / Kernel combination does everyone else use that seem to work for you?
