I have an issue with my galaxy nexus that baffles me whenever it pops up. I am using AOKP build 37 with the franco kernel and whenever I try to reflash the rom or flash a new version of the rom (build 39) everything goes smoothly until the phone has been back on after rebooting for a few seconds. Once I am on my home screen, it flickers off and then everything is tinted pink. After updating to build 39 the screen first goes fuzzy like an old television set with no channels tuned in for 1-2 seconds and comes back on, again everything tinted pink.
To fix this I have tried:-
- rebooting
- wiping cache
- wiping data
- reflashing rom
- flashing a different kernel (GLaDOS)
In the end the only thing that worked was restoring a nand backup.
I am using AOKP's option to change the screen dpi to 280, and it seemed like build 39 was behaving until I accessed this option and tried to change the dpi again.
I also tried a different rom, and cyanogenmod 9's latest nightly performed perfectly fine, but it does not have the same capabilities that AOKP offers.
I have tried searching for problems with pink or purple screens and AOKP on Galaxy Nexus but so far I have returned no exact matches, and nothing that sounds similar to my problem.
If anyone has an idea of what this issue could be, I would greatly appreciate their advice.
Thanks.
Are u flashing franco nightlies or his stable kernels?

Stable versions.
I seem to have fixed it for now by installing the new build of AOKP, a new kernel (GLaDOS) and build.prop editor from the market.
Thanks anyway.
I would use the trinity kernel by morfic.. It has color correction and gamma tuning built it

I was well excited to see this here then noticed it's the old build with the volume bug - ok no problem flash coolhbo300's kernel no worries.
The thing is as much of a CM fanboi I am I cant update maps on there or resize widgets so atm for me it's not a daily driver
but it is CM9 w00t! \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/
I will be watching the post over on rootzwiki for updates
Top job from fitsnugly for the cherry picks and compiling it for us
Happy for everyone waiting for it but, IMHO, nothing beats stock Android.

Sorry I'm not registered at euroskank so I can't read the thread... where do we get this? how come it isn't listed in the development section? would love to get some CM9 on my phone....
I'm guessing it's still an internal build at present
Did anyone flash this build? Any known bugs or crashes?
Anyway, I'm downloading right now and will post my findings.

Works great for me so far. Wallet is included in gapps and that works ive just got my free 10 dollar.
Agreed, no issues so far. Everything's smooth and fast and there's finally natively included power management in the notifications again
I flashed CM-9.0.0-RC0-GN-KANG-signed.12092011-0723 and ICS GApps 20111125-2
Changes I noticed so far:
- slightly customized bootanimation (sadly not the clear black mod by now)
- Power toggles in notification bar; WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Sound (not customizable by now)
- CM kernel included; Min: 350Mhz, Max: 1200Mhz, interactive governor as default, no OC, no UV (as far as I see it)
- Android Dream included (screensaver); options: Rocketlauncher, Nyandroid, Gallery Slideshow, Clock (<-- not working, black screen)
- Google+ not included
- Google Wallet included and working
- ROM Manager pre-installed
- Additional LWPs: Black Hole, Magic Smoke
- Reboot options in power menu! Restart, Bootloader, Recovery
My personal impression:
- the device seems VERY smooth! I had Android Revolution as well as Ir5 installed and CM 9 is at least on par. I didn't install many additional apps yet though.
- I miss advanced CM settings in this build, like in CM7. Can't seem to find them. But they'll be added for sure
I'll edit the post if I find something else.
Cheers

edit: I miss Paul's modified buttons with menu button on both sides and always on. I'll do a backup and flash the mod. Let's see if it breaks something
Not many changes but it is a start!
I miss drop down notifications.
My Google Wallet doesn't work says Secure Element has stopped responding. *shrugs* help
How close is the launcher to stock? I heard you can move/remove the search bar, but I still want the basic look and feel of ICS...
can someone running CM9 please test live wallpapers?
is there still choppy lag when using a live wallpaper other than the stock one?
Awesome, downloading and flashing now... will report back with impressions.
Feels very smooth. Strange thing i've noticed, The music player is the GB one, not the ICS one. Still works but slightly odd.

There are links to the rom and Google apps in the first post.
Btw the button mod crashed the modified cm9 framework as expected. Don't install any mods or patches.

There are no options regarding the launcher in this version of cm9. Launcher is stock with google search.
@paOol: depends on the wallpaper. Phase beam is butter smooth while the Nexus LWP lags like hell.

I got my Galaxy Nexus yesterday. Is it worth going from stock to CM9 already?
Or should i wait some weeks for new versions, what do you think?
Is there anything with CM9 that will get worse then with stock-rom if i flash now?

you should probably stay stock. Make sure no issues for at least a week. Just my opinion.

thanks for the heads up ! downloaded and flashing it right now , lets see how it runs
I'm flashing with TWRP, and just wipe cache/dalvik cache when flashing the nightlies. At some point there started being a weird graphics glitch on bootup and some other places, but that doesnt appear after I install Franco Kernel. The Camera also doesnt have any sounds at all, but all the files for the sounds are there. I have the same rom installed on my Motorola Xoom and the camera sounds are there, and theres no video artifacts ever.
I have wiped fully and reinstalled with the same effects. It's just weird. Any idea what's up? is TWRP no longer fully compatible with CM9?
Weird graphics glitches are probably caused by the kernel if they go away when you flash Franco.

The graphics glitch (the split second one) on first boot showed up a while ago; not sure what the cause is. Best guess is display drivers, the kernel is always updated with the latest drivers, for better or worse.
All my system sounds are fully functional.
Hello all,
I recently purchased an S3 and just trying to figure everything out for it (as I am coming from the nexus where everything is much simpler) The only real question I have for everyone is, What kernel is the best so far? Something that is optimized for battery life and speed.
If anyone is from the Nexus development you would know about Franco's kernel which has served me well for a long time, So what I'm looking for is something that is like the Franco Kernel, and has customization settings.
Any insight would be great
Cheers.
When running an AOSP JB ROM (like CM10 or AOKP), I'd suggest ktoonsez's KT747 kernel. It supports overclocking to 2.1 GHz, undervolting, comes with numerous tweakable governors and io schedulers, and it comes with its own adjustment app called KTweaker which is very handy. Just don't use SetCPU or Voltage Control or any other such app with that kernel as they could cause conflicts with KTweaker.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756776
The current KT747 for Sammy ROMS seems to be having issues with many phones though, so for Sammy ROMS I'd say your safest bet is faux123's kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785466
Much appreciated. I was seeing ktoonsez's KT747 kernel, and figured this was the "main" kernel for the s3 but I just had to know for sure. What you describe with it is exactly what I'm looking for in a kernel...full control of it. Thanks again
Also on KT747 ktoon created his on governor called ktoonservative. It's based off conservative but it's kicking some serious butt with my device :good:. I'm also severely under-volted but that shouldn't really change much as far as battery life.

I tried the kernel (both actually) and had no luck with either, one caused everything to fail ie: wifi, data, launcher, touch screen was unresponsive. And after flashing in the other one that says it is 100% stable on all devices, I was left with a phone that wouldnt turn on, and when it did start up, the screen was unresponsive. I tried clearing caches, fixing permissions, but nothing worked at all.
So I went back to stock kernel. Hopefully some of these issues can be resolved some day.

Are you sure you flashed the correct version? Both kernels come in ICS and JB flavors.
Also, I haven't seen anyone else with this issue so I'm not sure what happened.

DAMN I MISS FRANCO KERNEL!!!!!!! It was on the note n7000 in a way I wish it could come to the S3
I am running aokp 4.1.1 build 3 and I love it. I know the rom is still not stable, but I keep getting sod regarding the fact that some people don't get them that don't get them. Tried reflashing, switched it to interactive and minimum frequency. I know the rom is still not stable, but there's got to be a soultion to this
If there was a solution then it wouldn't be happening would it.. try upping your lower freq, try a different governor and scheduler.

Can't believe you said that there's got to be a solution.. Why? why does there have to be one.. stuff happens and people more knowledgeable than you or I are working on it. Hey honestly I don't get them on either AOKP or CM10. You have a choice though cm9 or aokp ICS run great and maybe you should try them until things meet your standards.
Hey guys, I have been an AOKP user since long. Have been using their Milestone6 until they released Jellybean builds.
Must say I am purely satisfied with these builds but have a small problem with this...Right now I am on JB Build 4.
I am getting tabs in two rows if I change the dpi of my phone to 240 or lower than that. 260 works fine though.
This never used to happen in Milestone 6. I am a 240dpi user and loves to see everything in one screen, but these two row splitting is annoying.
It happens in all the apps based on HOLO UI like Phone, People, Boid(3rd Party), etc.
Attached are the screenshots to explain my problem.
I tried looking into build.prop as well, but didn't find out what's the problem. Before reporting to AOKP guys, I want to ensure if this can be solved and this is seriously a bug or not!
Please help.
P.S: Landscape view doesn't have any problem. The problem persist only in portrait mode. However, Milestone 6 based on ICS never had any of such problems. Also, I know AOKP JB builds are still in their preliminary stage but this problem is a small things which I think need to be reported!
Use 241.
No visible change in applications other than fixes.
Thanks alot
