why does it keep restarting on it's own... . - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

This nexus 7 2013 16gb randomly restarts. I never rooted it and even tried factory reset. I even got kitkat and then did another wipe. I dont have any apps installed and it still crashes and reboots and it's getting worse...
I got it from staples and it is way past 30 days. Not sure what to do please help!

Enter safe mode by holding down power button then hold down power off and choose reboot into safe mode. Use the tablet for a couple of hours in safe mode and if there are no crashes or reboots while your in safe mode then it is probably a rogue app causing the problem.

My Galaxy \Nexus won't boot....Perpetual flash screen
I got a notice of several (around 16) apps with updates this afternoon. They were very slow to update (I think the AT&T bandwidth was horrible) My phone rebooted -- which it has about 5-6 times in the past two weeks since I got it.
On immediate reboot, I was getting System UI stopped, report ?
After about 2-3 reboots like that, I am now on the tiled flash screen after the Google intro after reboot.
I've removed the battery several times. I've tried with and without the SIM card. I've tried with a power connector connected...nothing.
This has been going on for over an hour.
I'm very frustrated.
I had the same issue, i have relocked the boot loader and I'm going to take it back tomorrow for an exchange. I was getting to the google logo and then it just reboots back to the google logo even time. I tried a nandroid restore, didn't work, i tried to wipe every thing it still wouldn't boot. Now it just stays with the google logo on screen.
I also had the System UI stopped a lot around 8 times a day.
Hmmmm

[Q] Nexus Prime continuously rebooting

I brought my Nexus Prime from Korea last month.
A few hours ago I was listening to music on my phone when it rebooted. After that it came back on for roughly 10 seconds before rebooting again.
I uninstalled a game from my phone roughly 30 minutes before this error happened.
I cannot use my phone now, I get a few seconds of use out of it before its stuck in a continuous reboot cycle.
I have tried letting it cool down (it was a hot day), removing the simcard and changing batteries. Not sure what else I can do with only a few seconds of use.
Model number - SHW-M420S
Is anyone able to help me get out of this reboot cycle?
Try to back up important things and do factory reset. Is your phone rooted? CWM recovery installed? If so, before doing factory restore you could try wiping cache/dalvik cache first.

Luckily its still a new phone, so there isn't much on it.
The phone is rooted in that I cannot access it in any way. Even connecting to a computer is useless as its only on for a few seconds before it reboots itself.
CWM recovery isn't installed, will be when the phone is working again though!
Is there a way to wipe the cache/dalvik cache or factory reset while the phone is off?
fastboot will allow you to erase data, userdata, as well as flash a custom recovery like cwm or a full rom.

edit: boot your device with POWER+VOLUP+VOLDOWN into fastboot. search google and/or xda for some fastboot tutorials.
I had this problem awhile back. It was a bum phone with hardware issue. I had to exchange it. Yours may be in the same boat.
I will try a fastboot later today and let you know the outcome, thank you.
If all else fails I'll send it back to Korea for new hardware I guess.
I ran into this problem a while ago. I had to restore the phone to stock using the image from Google. Haven't had a problem since

[Q]Rogers Galaxy S3 constantly restarting even in recovery/download mode

So tonight out of the blue, my Rogers Galaxy S3 restarted itself. This isn't totally unusual, as sometimes this will happen once or twice a day, but never has it been too bad.
First off, I've been running Cyanogenmod 10.0, and again, has been relatively problem free. The first major issue I had was a week or so ago when I woke up to my phone having seemingly restored it's default settings on its own. Apps and all my other data were intact, but widgets, app settings, etc, were all cleared.
Now tonight, my phone can rarely boot into CM, and when it does, the power menu will appear shortly thereafter before restarting itself once again. If the phone is plugged in, I can't get anything other than the charge indicator to come on the screen for more than a second. The phone also does this when trying to boot into recovery mode or download mode.
I'm at a total loss as to what to do here, so I'm going to be leaving the phone off with the battery out over night. Appreciate any feedback in the meantime.
Also having a similar problem: phone boots up, will barely enter the bootloader/TWRP/boot animation for hyperdrive ROM. Also with rogers. I believe it might be SDS but I need to re install the stock firmware and can barely boot into the bootloader without the phone dying (battery is charged though). Any help greatly appreciated!
EDIT: managed to boot up for long enough to install "eMMC check" and apparently I have a 'sane chip'.
There have been issues with the power button getting stuck. Maybe you have that issue?

Well, after pulling most of my hair out, that does seem to be the issue. Would explain why the power menu would come up the few times it did manage to boot. I managed to get it working for a while, but the button seems to be really delicate since picking my phone up and barely touching it reset it again.
I guess now I need a solution to the power button sticking, but at least it doesn't seem to be SDS.
Okay, that makes sense. When I leave the phone completely stable it's fine.
However, I have tried unrooting and reinstalling stock firmware. However, my system status in bootloader is still custom, when I boot up the rom I still have superuser installed. I tried installing two different stock firmwares for Rogers and the same problem. Any help would be great, I really want to send this in for warranty ASAP.
EDIT: After using ODIN to install stock rom, I still had Superuser. I installed SuperSU and then preformed it'sfull unroot. After that i cleared data and cache from stock recovery and the phone is now at original status and seems to not be randomly rebooting/dying. Weird.

Phone started crashing, I did a factory reset, now it won't turn on at all

Yesterday, my phone started to freeze randomly. I would hit the wake button and nothing would happen, I would have to hold power for about 15s or remove the battery to reboot. The times between freezes got shorter and shorter until today when it would never make it to the OS. It would either go to a reboot loop or sit stuck with the Galaxy S III logo on screen.
I was able to boot into recovery, I wiped the Dalvik Cache and then rebooted. The phone got into the part where it updated apps but after waiting for than 20 minutes for it to update app 29 of 29, I pulled the battery and rebooted to recovery.
This time I wiped the normal cache and rebooted but it didn't make it to android.
I rebooted to recovery and did a factory reset, then rebooted. The phone powered off and would not power back on at all. The battery was at about 40% when this happened, I think. It was plugged in for the last 4 hours but it still won't start.
Is there anything I can do?

No, I even took it to someone with a USB jig. I've mailed it off to someone on ebay with a Riff box to see if they can fix it. In the mean time, I bought a Nexus 5 on craigslist and couldn't be happier.

Soft-Bricked M9

I've had an M9 for 2-3. After the first year I got my phone, I installed a custom recovery and rooted it but later uninstalled root and custom recovery. It has been fine ever since except recently. Last month, my phone randomly crashed for the first time and got stuck in the infinite bootloop. It was as if everytime it tries to boot up, it crashed during it. If I hit the power, vol up, and vol down button, I make it to the screen with the option to go into recovery, download, etc. But when I actually try to go into either bootloader, recovery, or download mode from that menu, it crashes and goes back to the white htc logo. I've have gotten the phone to bootup a couple times by leaving it in the freezer as it tries to boot up but after using it for 1-5 minutes, it crashes again. If I don't use the phone at all, then it usually wont crash. After a day or 2, the phone fixed itself. Then one morning, my notifications got stuck together and my screen became unresponsive. So I took my death sentence and restarted my phone and now my phone has been doing the same exact thing for a week. I don't know how to fix this problem because getting it crashes trying to go into recovery and trying to do a factory reset is risky since it could crash during the reset. If also manage to make it into safe mode thinking maybe an application or virus is causing this but the phone crashed in SAFE MODE so I don't know what the problem is. I doubt there is any saving this phone because is probably a hard ware problem but who knows. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you.
Flash back to stock. Stock firmware fixes all sorts of issues.
