Was your tablet rooted to begin with? If so were you running stock or a custom rom?
If it wasn't, you might wanna try unlocking the bootloader and flashing the stock image from Google using adb and fastboot. The relocking your boot loader.
Let me know if you Dont know how to do that. Hope that helps.

Before I go on I'm assuming you didn't drop it or got it wet or anything like that.
Now, if you have warranty. I would do a factory data reset. And if your issues are still persisting then call Google support and request a new one.
If you DONT have warranty left, then
I think you should just unlock 5he boot loader, and flash the 4.4 kk stock image, then look for the ota update again, install it and see if your issues disappears. If they do then you can either go for root =] or relock the boot loader and stay bone stock.
The are tons of greats guides for rooting/flashing stock images online and in these forums. Just pick one and follow it.
If you have a Mac I could write one up for you once I ge5 back from work/school around 1p (pacific). Just lmk
Good luck!

Okay let's do this step by step:
Do you have warranty on your tablet? If yes, then I would call Google support and explain to them the issue.
Question Answers:
1) you are right to use adb you would need to enable USB debugging as far as I know. What I would try is boot into fasstboot by powering it off. Then hold the power button and vol down key for about 12 secs. Then use fastboot to unlock the bootloader that should "basically" do a factory data reset since It will wipe all your user data.
2) if you install a custom recovery like twrp, that's not the touch on, I want to say yes. Because you can use the hardware keys to navagate through it.
3) I would flash factory 4.4 because its stock from Google it is stable. But you can do either or see if it makes a difference.
Now, I've seen around on these forums other people complain about getting defective tablets that have touch screen issue, although I Dont think I have heard of one as severe as yours yet. It could be that you have a defective unit, which is why I strongly suggest to use your warranty if you still have it. Google is pretty good about replacing devices, and there devices are know for having defects. I had a new nexus 5 with a defective screen called Google and got a new one within a week. They even let me use the defective one meanwhile until I got the new unit!

Ok i am getting what you are saying...
See....
1) My tablet has been working perfectly for for about 2 months now when it was running Android 4.3 JWR66N.
So i dont think its an hardware issue because i certainly would have faced some problem in whole 60 days !!!
2) The fact that it has started showing some issues... only since past 2 hours and that too immediately after the 4.4 OTA makes me believe that its an software issue...
3) Warranty thing is out of question... Dont ask Why
SO now can you provide a way for me to solve my problem.... will unlocking bootloader as u said erase all data and solve the problem ???
Also to flash stock rom...I will revert back to 4.3... JSS15R
But the question is how can i enable USB Debugging ??? as my touchscreen is completely dead i Mean i can see the wall paper but its unresponsive
Thanks

I can't say for sure that unlocking the bootloader will solve your issue but it will for sure wipe your device. I would recommend creating a back up, but since you can't enable USB debugging to create a backup using adb, you are most likely going to need to be okay with losing all your data first.
As far as I know, I Dont know of any way to enable USB debugging without going into settings first. =\
Check the forums?
I'm at work right now, and I'm also not familiar with the process on a PC. I know how to do it on a mac, since that's what I use and am familiar with. I know that for windows its a very similar process but there are some device specific drivers that you must download and install on your machine before hand.
Without a computer in front of me right now ( I'm at work ) I can't tell you exactly what to do for a PC
Look online there are tons of guides also check you tube.
I should be free later around 2 or 3pm ( pacific ) and if you can't figure it out and would still like to my help. Id be happy to help you then.

Since rebooting doesn't work (from your PM) I'd suggest flashing JSS15R.
Reading the above posts, it seems your bootloader is not unlocked.
I'm concerned in your current state of mind it isn't good to do things like unlocking the bootloader or flashing stock images as you might make things worse.
First take a few hours off and think about whether you want to try and fix this yourself or just RMA the unit.
It is possible you might be able to fix this yourself but it is also possible you might mess things up even more.
Is there any data on the unit you really need?
i am ready !!!

First step, do you have the USB drivers from google installed? If not download/install from here:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
Then boot into bootloader (Press/Hold Power+VolDown until bootloader menu comes up)
Then download and unzip this file on your PC
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2405103&d=1384987176
Connect your tablet to the PC via USB cable.
Open up command prompt
Go into the razors-krt16s directory from the unzipping of above file.
type in command line
fastboot oem unlock
follow the directions on the screen. You need to use volup to select yes, and Power to accept.
it will proceed to wipe your user data.
post back when you are done.

Have you unlocked the bootloader?
---------- Post added at 10:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:22 AM ----------
If you have unlocked the bootloader, follow the directions in this post to flash JSS15J
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44888268#post44888268
I am suggesting JSS15J instead of JSS15R because it is the closest factory image to JWR66N that you can get.
DONE !!!
i think its done
the LOCK STATE: UNLOCKED is shown
which u recommend ?
Should I proceed with JSS15J ???

No, unlocking the bootloader is the same for all versions. I just pointed you to that addon file because it happened to have the fastboot executable and I had the link handy. The only files that change between the addon files I'm pointing you to is the script (.bat file) that flashes the factory images because the filenames from google are different for every version.
The fastboot executable is the same for all of them.
Last doubt

Hello,
I was trying to flash a new Rom onto my phone (Superfly) and installed the .zip file from clockwork, however, when I try to boot the phone, it sticks at the Mytouch slide screen.
I cant load into the card nor the phone.
Is there any way to reverse this?
Thanks in advance!
Hopefully you made a backup. You should still be able to boot into recovery and restore your backup or even flash a new rom.

The problem the OP and myself are having is that we cant load Clockwork recovery, and I think its cause when we flashed the new rom, it did away with USB debugging mode, and now we cant get back into the OS to select it again. I too am stuck in this loop, and I might just have to bite the bullet and bring it in to tmo and tell em it just stopped working for no reason...

The USB debugging option means nothing while booted in to recovery. If you haven't flashed the engineering rom before you will need to redo the loop/ota.zip/update.zip spoof to get back in to clockwork.
I did do a nandroid backup, but the phone magically can not find it now. And It took forever to get to work, but I was finally able to get back into clockwork and tried to install another a different rom (Kanged CM6 ROM) but ended with the same results of sticking on the mytouch slide startup screen. Frustrating, because it probably took about 3 hours to get back into clockwork!
Any other suggestions???
wipe everything on the phone, find the thread that walks you through that

As was noted previously, if you haven't flashed the ESPRIMG rom, you're basically looking at re-rooting your phone every time you want to install a different rom. This means going through the whole process again and again and again.

thats weird, cause before I could get into clockwork after 2 tries max, not I tried repeatedly for 10 mins and it didnt work, so I should just keep tryin to get into clock work then?
Yes, keep trying. And when you do, please flash the engineering rom and keep the proper update.zip on your card! It will save you a lot of trouble in the long run.

will do, theres alot of assumptions around here tho, and newbs to android are kinda expected to know things without them being stated in the threads..
Now I know theres something that makes it so I dont have to go thru the pain of rooting to get into clockwork I'm def gna use it..
what method should I use? Ive been doing the following and no luck so far
1 - cd to android sdk tools folder
2 - vol down + power for recovery
3 - highlight recovery
4 - run loop in cmd
5 - plug usb into phone
6 - plug usb into pc, and before it changes to HBOOT from USB i hit power to select recovery
7 - adb devices sees it as an offline device for a few cycles, then it disappears.
after step 7 I've tried running update.zip
unplugging and plugging back in
ctrl+c to stop the script when its offline
unplug when its noticed as an offline device
whats the best way to get into it now?
======
EDIT - finally got it into recovery, i loaded up htc's recover with it plugged it to the pc so it loaded up HBOOT from USB
normally your are not bricked if:
1. you can boot into recovery
2. you can not boot into recovery yet you can boot into bootloader [HOLD (power + volume down) to boot]
Don't worry I got a black/blank screen of death the other day for flashing the wrong boot.img fortunately I was able to boot into bootloader and start from scratch using the ESPRIMG.zip

I agree to an extent, but if you take the time to read through things thoroughly (as in every post in the How To Root or Engineering Build or even Rom Bible thread), you'll be okay. This is my first Android device as well. I put off rooting for a solid couple of weeks while I read through everything I could. I was completely paranoid about bricking my phone. Eventually, I went for it. Even then I had a couple hiccups along the way (including have to re-root two more times), but all the information is here.
So an update:
I went to a Tmobile retail store to see if I could do a direct swap and am having a new phone sent out to me. I will definately take all the replies into consideration when starting the root process on my new one! My final question is, since I am afraid Tmobile will not find my phone valid to be replaced under warranty due to it being rooted, is there any way to unroot and go back to stock? I have googled it, but cannot find anything specific for the slide...
Thanks!

I had the same problem you did, and fixed my phone, so its possible. refer to my post on the first page and then refer to this post and use the mirror that Wes himself posted.

I downloaded the Jedi Mind Trick JB 2 ROM and installed it via clocwork mod recovery .. That went fine but it took me a few days to realize I didnt have a working video camera anymore on my phone.. so I thought to flash a stock ROOTed rom instead...
Then I found this threat about an updated version of Jedi Mind Trick's ROM labled JB 3.. So I wiped as much as I could in recovery and chose to format all the options it gave me in recover , Format system , data , cache , emms(or something) .. and now when I boot the phone , it shows the first flash screen , and the samsung logo starts to shimmer then it reboots back to the splash screen and repeats this process everal times before just going black and sitting there..
So I've successfully bootlooped my phone doing this..
MY PROBLEM -- I don't know how to charge my phone or connect to it to install anything else..
Is this a serious problem? How can I charge my phone to continue troubleshooting it? It still has some battery to try some things but I don't know how to hook it up to transfer any other roms to it via USB cable and PC in it's current state..
I'm very computer savvy but I'm trying to learn this phone modding stuff and I realy hope I didn't brick my phone in this process.
Can someone please help me out here? I'll be on the forums religiously until I figure this out.
What should I start doing first??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
still working at it
I think I'm at the point of having to use ODIN to flash a new rom since i cannot simply copy this rom to the sdcard to use clockwork to flash it .. Am I correct on this ?
For some reason this rom I found (should be stock rooted tmobile gSII rom) does not want to open from ODIN's PDA button cause its in .zip and not .tar or anything... I'm not sure how to flash this rom with ODIN ( I'm not even 100% sure this is how its supposed to go) Any suggestions ?
phew
UPDATE - So I managed to research enough to find out that there is no way to flash a CUSTOM rom with ODIN.. SO I had to download a stock (presumably rooted) t-mobile rom and flash THAT ...
Now I'm back up with a rooted rom and will begin re-installing clockwork and then my custom deodexed rooted rom afterward.
Thanks for all who almost kinda tried to care to reply in this past 2 hours =) -- As previously mentioned.. I am a nerd.. I just suck at phone modding. Haha
So , looks like I'm in the clear now and don't need any more support on this particular topic yet.

Is this true? Through a recommendation (haven't done anything to my phone from rooting/flashing KANGSJUGGERNAUT2 years ago), I tried to flash CM10 and ended up with a bootloop myself. Tried flashing through ODIN but it kept crashing; does anyone know why?
Afterward, I tried to reflash it through CWM and from then on bootloops into a installation process that never completes.
For some reason my CWM turned super slow, freezes/hangs and reboots after a few minutes.
I gave the phone to a friend who does this stuff on the regular but he said my initial flash wasn't complete cause in download mode says I'm still running official? No clue.
I was told this via email/chat: "No luck, it won't even boot anymore, I think I'll just bring it back tmrw morn
10:43 PM
Sorry I'm at a wedding (yea I know random) I left my phone with coat check
OK I've narrowed down the reason but not the solution, you had an AOKP based ROM which fundamentally is based on CyanogenMod, but it wasn't correctly flashed as the phone still thought it has factory ROMs still running
11:10 PM
Clockworkmod(even though it was working before) wasn't accessing the partitions of the phone correctly so it wasn't properly wiping or flashing properly.
11:12 PM
So basically from the first time you flashed cwm it didn't flash properly then the next time you flashed using the new recovery it didn't flash anything it was supposed to do itself properly , so basically it was a chain of events in addition to a bad boot loader, that's why it never went to recovery or download mode correctly
11:13 PM
That's something that had to do with the way the phone was built meaning you may of had a bad bootloader from the very begin and are now feeling the synptoms
Basically, and I would hate to be the reason or partially the reason you have a dead phone, basically it was a matter of coincedencr that it happened as this could of happened at anytime, once you have a bad boot loader its pretty much down hill from there"
Any helpful insight as how I can rectify this? is my phone truly dead? Sorry about the quoted format, it was copied and pasted.
If I were in your boat, I'd use Odin and flash the stock 4.1.2 ROM.

Stock 4.1.2? Possible over a hardbricked T989 with old 2.3.6?

sorry but i have to assume that you are not doing the 3 button recovery or download mode right.
Pull battery, put battery back in, hold power button & Vol +/- untill you see SAMSUNG on the screen ---> let go off power button(keep holding
Vol +/- button) .....u will see recovery. (assuming you did flash cwm before).
Let me know.

sorry but i have to assume that you are not doing the 3 button recovery or download mode right.
Pull battery, put battery back in, hold power button & Vol +/- untill you see SAMSUNG on the screen ---> let go off power button(keep holding
Vol +/- button) .....u will see recovery. (assuming you did flash cwm before).
Let me know.

And sorry, no, I've tried many times, many methods and my phone is confirmed as entirely hard bricked.
SUPAR SAD, but thank you!

you can try using adb and put the phone in dl mode.
sometimes its as easy as pull battery and wait awhile (20 min or more) and try again.
if you've exhausted all possibilities, you can use a jig to force a dl mode.

I don't know what adb is, or how to use it; I have, however seen my friend RDP to my desktop and do something and used the term 'adb' in his attempt to code through the phone.
I've done that battery waiting period, for nearly an hour and still no result.
After doing some researching, I have found that many people have stated a USB JIG would not be applicable to a 'hard bricked' phone. I really wanted to try as it looked like the most, simple and inexpensive solution.

It might as well have... :crying:
Seems a few are having the same problem as me after trying to flash 5.0
My Nexus will no longer boot past the Google Logo (White one). I can only access the Bootloader. When I try to go to recovery I see the TWRP logo but stays stuck there. I tried flashing a new image a few times but always had the same problem.
I then tried to relock the bootloader and unlock again again to prepare a fresh install. This is where it gets worse. I managed to lock the bootloader but I can no longer unlock. I get to the screen warning that data will be wiped if I choose "YES", but when I do proceed, I stay stuck on "Erasing userdata...". I left it for 5 hours and was still stuck with the same message.
I cant see what else I can do now.
Ive read a few threads saying its a motherboard issue. Seems weird that it appeared when I tried to install Lollipop. Also seems Im not the only one.
this worked for me
I'm sure someone wiser will respond to you later but ..... I've been in a similar situation.
I use Windows 7 64bit and always connect device with usb 2 port (i.e. not usb3).
I was getting stuck on the google logo with an open lock symbol low on the screen - indicating unlocked bootloader. Like you could get into recovery but unable to get any further once there.
Try using Wugfresh's Nexus Root Tool. Look in the development thread. I'd suggest reading his faq's.
Download and install the latest version 1.9.6 (as I recall) - I had problems when using the earlier versions.
Get an stock image downloaded.
Then you should be able to flash the image using the force flash method he mentions in his faq. You set it in the options menu.
Set USB debugging on the device and usb options for storage to ptp rather than mtp - that's what worked for me.
You'll probably see repeated "installing driver" messages and new "open location" popups as you go through it.
(if your bootloader is locked you'll need to unlock it first. - just re-read your original post and I'm hoping that the latest NRT version will get you unlocked OK.)
If you have problems with this at first try going through the driver installation section of the tools.
After that you can use the same tool to root it. That didn't work completely but did allow me to use an OTG flash drive. If you need full root there's a patch you need to flash - Key Pie patch - took me a while to find it but it's somewhere on these forums.
After the problems I had everything went smoothly in the end. Just be prepared to watch it go through various rebootings while the magic is being done.
Apologies if this is a bit haphazard - I tend to try and rush through things and then forget what it was exactly I did!
I have tried NRT but cant do anything as I cant unlock the bootloader. I have tried both Fastboot and NRT, they both block at "erasing userdata".
Just a thought
Sorry to hear that.
Have you tried "Flash Stock + unroot" with the "Soft-bricked/Bootloop" option in NRT? I now recall that's something that helped me get mine recovered. Just a thought.
I recall reading forum posts that suggested I might have motherboard issues - but I didn't believe it was likely to be the case so I kept trying.
Tried all NRT options including force flash.
Problem is none work with the locked bootloader.
Nexus Root Toolkit v1.9.7 out now
Change log:
What’s new in Nexus Root Toolkit 1.9.7: November 16th, 2014
· Included the latest Masterlists to prevent users who never utilized the “Update” in the kit from getting the AutoIt error (for KTU84P Nexus 7 2013). This error was due to the modified boot.img for that build being accidentally removed from the server. Its was then reuploaded and the masterlists were updated, but those users who never updated would still get the error.
· No longer will the “Force Flash” recommendation be made to N4 users, because it seems to cause a bootloop – however factory resting will fix that either way.
IDEM
I spent exactly the same as you, I also lock the bootloader and now I can not do anything, always get "write failure" and when I try to unlock stays forever "erase ..."
There will be some way to revive it?
Cursed Android 5.0!
If the problem is confirmed to be Android 5.0, Google can help solve these problems?
Use the instructions to reflash your bootloader.
http://blog.laptopmag.com/how-to-hard-reset-a-bricked-nexus-7-with-your-pc
Note replace the instructions to download 4.1.1. with the correct version of the ROM you want to flash. Make sure you grab the correct version for your device. Flashing the wrong bootloader can hard brick your NEXUS with no chance of recovery. Also don't relock your bootloader unless you are certain that you will never want to flash again. Unlocking wipes all of your data and you also can't be rooted if you lock it again.
Doesnt work. Cant get passed the first step. After 1 hour its still "erasing boot..."
I flashed 5.0 successfully... You can't send it to Google with warranty? Try on other computer, do it manually using fastboot and don't give up!
As long as you can still boot into Fast Boot..
Your device can be restored..
I suggest using Wugfresh's Nexus toolkit
http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/
The issues coming from the latest upgrade are common problems when ever we upgrade..
Its always better if you know how, just use the Nexus Toolkit and install the factory image..
Then it will sit at bootup for about 5-7 mins, then restore your apps... Profit
OTAs will always cause issues with some devices..

Again.. I cant unlock the bootloader whether manually trying with fastboot or running NRT. Flashing a stock image is not possible.

If you have not tried the latest version of NRT, you may of fried your locked bootloader..
Regardless, don't give up... Someone will come to the rescue.. Nexus devices are pretty robust..
Try using another cable, make sure you have the correct driver, double check in Device Manager...
Then try again with the lastest NRT.. Mine just updated.. As a rule of thumb its better not to use a USB hub if thats the case.. Try swapping out your cable, make sure you have the Nexus drivers... I had to re install mine..

I'm in the exact same spot. Also, I know that I don't have USB debugging enabled, so not sure if I'm blocked out because of that. Very frustrating.
The computer sees the tablet though. If I click on List Devices in NRT Advanced Utilities, it shows my serial # fastboot.
update: I tried the Unlock command and it goes to the Unlock Bootloader screen. I click Yes, but then the device just hangs on that screen (I let it sit for 30-40 minutes). Ideas?

It hangs because its probably stuck at "erasing userdata". If you do it manuall with fastboot oem unlock you will see this in the cmd window.

I ve given up . Bought a Nexus 9. Wasted too much time on this.
Having the same problem
My Nexus 7 (2013 32gb wifi) was working just fine on Monday. Had an unusual freeze up when I was reading something on Adobe Acro., but a quick reboot had it running again. I remember a notification about a system update but didn't pay it much mind. Later that evening I went to pick the N7 up and it was stuck on the Google loading screen. Freezes at Google loading screen when I attempt Recovery mode from Fastboot. Fastboot OEM unlock gives me the same stall at 'erasing user data' as mentioned above (left it on for this for 12+ hours yesterday and nothing). I haven't tried a different cable other than stock yet but I have tried multiple ports and two different machines to unlock the bootloader so I can flash the OS. No other functions with NRT (1.9.9) work including forced flash+unroot. I can't even flash the bootloader or erase or format any partitions. Feeling a little SOL here and I think it has something to do with Lollipop update.
N7 was unrooted and used for reading for the past couple weeks, so pretty vanilla use over the recent past.
4 months out of warranty with Asus and they want an est. $100 for RMA. Google tossed me to them after dragging me through the basic stuff I've been doing the past few days. Going to keep messing with it I suppose once exams are over but feel like I'm running out of things to try. If anyone has any suggestions, questions or a solution, posting them here would be much appreciated.
My upgrade from 4.4.4 to 5.0.1 took ages. It was like bouncing the four small balls for perhaps 5 minutes. Just have patience.
I would recommend not to use xposed or titanium backup as I expect those programs mess with /system files and that can break the android upgrade script. Just disable any unwanted bloatware in regular application control. At least all my updates have been successful so far. Yes, I am rooted.
Good luck.

For Wugfresh excellent "Nexus Root Toolkit" to work you need to enable usb debugging in developer menu. You enable the developer menu by tapping a lot on your version information.
The usb debugging gets reset on every upgrade.

They quote you $100 RMA, but once you send it in they will send you an invoice for $200. $165 for the motherboard, $25 labor and $10 return shipping. I fought it and they eventually dropped $10 for the return shipping. Last time I ever deal with Asus.

I don't know why, but for some reason my nexus 5x is stuck in a bootloop. I was rooted running 6.0.1 (MTC19T) when it shutoff and was not trying to update to N as others were.
I can access the bootloader, but not recovery (just reboots). I have flashed other stock 6.01 OTA's which hasn't changed anything. Flashing TWRP again does nothing. Was trying to follow THIS thread, but PC does not recognize phone in download mode. Also, the phone will only stay download mode for about 15 seconds before rebooting. Any advice?

Well If u can access bootloader you can flash any firmware using fastboot commands.
Totally weird, but my 5x just did the same thing. I opened the Yahoo Sports app, and it froze. An attempted reboot, and it's now stuck in a boot loop. If I try to enter recovery, it reboots. Unfortunately, my desktop is at work, so I can't troubleshoot right now.
I'm starting to wonder if I'll be reading several of these posts today. Hmmm...

Yes, but I've tried flashing multiple different stock images from the google repository by unzipping them and flashing the components to no avail. Is there another way to flash it? Should I be flashing something else?

Same here, when I went back from 7 to 6.0.1 bootloop. I unfortunately did not get to try the TOT file method as I had already RMA it out and just this morning caught this.
Out of all the Android devices it amazes my how easily this device bricked. I had numerous HTC devices and despite being carrier locked and using a java card to unlock the bootloader i never once had this issue with with any of them, they are very forgiving and will be seriously considering the 2016 HTC nexus as this one is only 4 months old. Im nowhere near n noob to rooting and flashing but disappointed how unforgiving the device is. Granted there are some things I really like about it, but bricked in 4 months is a bad sign of quality IMO.
Nexus are impossible to brick, unless you flash stock factory image...
I have had this same problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/help/5x-bootloops-recovery-t3391459
Eventually after disassembly, I called Google Play and LG, to have it replaced.
I also had a cracked camera glass and screen, got a new Nexus 5x , and havent been charged since it seems the phone was due for failure no matter what.
The problem SEEMS to be the button or signal of of the power button always being pressed. When it's off it will even turn on by itself, and maybe if your lucky itll stay on for a while.
Call in, request RMA

Hi guys,
I attached my brand new Galaxy S20 Ultra to my PC and started Smart Switch today. The Software showed an update for my device so I downloaded it and started the update process. Unfortunately, Smart Switch got stuck during the update process at 68%. Nothing happened, cables and all still attached. It just didn't proceed any further for hours.
I decided to take the path of stopping the process, using the key combination shown on my device. It now said, recover your device software with Smart Switch Emergency recovery function. I started this and guess what: it also stopped at 68%.
I "rebooted" the device (volume down + power for approx. 10 seconds) and it starts again in recovery mode.
I manually filled in the recovery code and it seemed like Smart Switch was downloading the OS again. Started the recovery process and it is stuck at 68% again.
Now I am just super afraid that I bricked the device by using Samsungs original software.
Anyone her to help or have similar experiences?
Thanks for any advice on how to proceed.
Julius
What exactly were you trying to do? I mean normally you hook up old phone and use smart switch to update new phone. So why was you connected to a PC? It does sound like you bricked it.
So now you probably need to flash the ROM.
I read that smart switch is a good and valid source to check for updates. I never thought that an official Samsung software can be so bad at something so basic, resulting in bricking my phone...
Stop using smart switch to update your phone. You haven't hard bricked it because you still have recovery. It's called a soft brick. Download Odin 13.3_3B from here on xda. Do not use the 13.4 because it's suspected to have a fishy call back to a server from a dll that's in the program folder. Download the atch firmware for your model from sammobile or get it in this s20 ultra forum. You should be able to flash the new firmware.
Thanks @freebee269. Does flashing the firmware with Odin void my warranty or does this only count for rooting devices? (Sorry for stupid questions)

What kind of USB Port did you use?
Try again using a USB 2.0 port, Samsung always had problems with it's software and USB 3.0 ports.
Use USB 2.0 and try again.
Hi guys, i have a similar problem as (xReem).
Attached my GT SM-T515/10.1 tab to smart switch where the software was unable to recognise my device!? Was advised to use the Emergency Code function but i have no code due to backing up my data to sd card! I have Magisk and TWRP installed where my device was working beforehand, but since attaching to smart switch, my device is now totally "dysfunctional"!!!
Error message as follows...
...An error as occurred while updating the software. Use the Emergency Recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software. ...
Like i sad, i have no code!!!
I am able to get to the device unlock choice screen and if i choose to restart, my device always boots to the Smart Switch Emergency Code screen?! If i choose the device unlock or download screens, both screens are accessible! Tried to flash my original firmware (BTU-T515XXU3ASK5-20191224095700) using Odin3_v3.14.1 and twrp-3.3.1-6-T515XXU3ASK5-20200215 with no joy (Fail!)
Although i'm totally @"#$%* off about this, as its a new device, i am also curious if someone has ever cracked this... 'Smart Switch No Code' problem before. Hmm...
Anyways, any help appriciated...
Oh! Cannot access recovery at all...
Any help appriciated.

Did you ever get things working ? If not, when you flashed with Odin - did you use the PATCHED Version ? THis is necessary when flashing firmware via Odin on the S20 Ultra.....
You can download Odin 3.14.1_3b here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572
Be sure to download the PATCHED version of 3.14.1_3b (it is located as an attached file at the bottom of the first post in the OP at the link above. Hope this helps.

No, to answer your first question, and yes used the patched version of Odin you state but with no joy.
(would another version of Odin be better for my device model?)
I just need to find a way to flash the original stock recovery. Having the TWRP installed as mentioned earlier is blocking my path, and I have now tripped knox! So no more options available to access the unlock oem screen. Now frp is off, oem is on!
Also, I was wondering if anyone had thought about a totally updated version of the old "ALL IN ONE TOOL" which was available for some earlier makes of phone devices? I think due to manufacturers security upgrades of today's phones we could all do with something like this?
I heard you can do a NAND/Reset wipe via the Odin options screen which would allow you to install a new rom???
Oh, my predicament was based on Julius's post, not xReem. Sorry for the confusion.

Sorry for your troubles - wish I could help you but you have done everything I would have tried. Maybe, if you haven't already done this - leave the phone on until the battery runs out completely. Then, recharge the phone for a while so the battery has some juice again and then get the phone back into download mode by pressing volume up and volume down at the same time - then plug in the USB - it shoul.d launch into download mode again - then try flashing again with the patched odin.
If you have already done this - then I don't know how what else to suggest.
I wish you luck and hope you are able to get things working again.

Julius

Hey Julius, did you get your phone to work. I am having the same issue.
Update:
I am good now. I was using the thunderbolt cable that came with the phone and update would get stuck at the same point everything with odin 3.13 and 3.14.
I used a USB 3 to thunderbolt cable that I had from an older phone and it work.
What I used:
Windows 10 x64 1909
USB 3 to thunderbolt cable
USB driver downloaded from Samsung support. I think it is the same driver that comes with smart switch because when I installed it, it prompted
to reinstall driver.
Odin3 v3.13.3_3B_PatcheD from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572. ( I think 3.14 will work too.
I really think the cable was the only problem)
Firmware downloaded with SamFirm

Open Odin as administrator and if using a stock AP file always use the HOME-CSC of the same firmware in CSC slot. Sometimes Odin plays the fool and gets stuck.

Wow! This nearly worked!!!
Managed to get a (((PASS))) on Odin and my tab actually rebooted into the Samsung logo!!!
Soon after this though tab immediately Boots back into download mode??? Tried the same steps but without any progress???
I feel I'm close to cracking this but need some more advice on how to build on such "progress"!?
Many thanks for your advice...

Try with all slots filled but with CSC file not HOME-CSC. That may help as it flashes pit file to factory reset

(((SUCCESS)))!!! :laugh::laugh::laugh:
Done what you suggested by waiting until my battery ran out!
I downloaded a different software version and as soon as I plugged my tab into my PC with USB, i flashed the new software with no problems!!!
Flashed TWRP, Magisk and Multidisabler problemless the same!
The lesson learnt here...
...(ONLY FOR THOSE WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING)...
...is to probably only have 30% battery when flashing!!! This way you won't have to wait weeks for such a large capacity battery to run down, like I did!
I knew I'd crack it!
