best Nexus 5 screen protector? - Nexus 5 Accessories

Hi all,
I'm looking for a decent, but not way too expensive screen protector. I'm planning to use my n5 with only a screen protector, nothing else. It doesn't matter for me if it is wet or dry application, as long as it will keep my screen safe and it won't annoy me in terms of feel and screen distortion. Anyone know any good screen protectors?
Thanks in advance!

Can't say much but my experience with the spigen crystal clear has been good. Easy installation! looks great as it doesn't have any cutouts for the camera and proximity sensor. Doesn't affect the performance at all. My protector came dented, it came free with my ultra hybrid case but meh, not many complaints regarding that.

I bought this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EPLT8O4/
You get 3 protectors and I'm pretty happy with the quality. They do attract a lot of fingerprints but I think most protectors do? I was worried a screen protector would alter the screen color/vibrance but I can't even tell it's on unless I look at the edges. I'm happy with this purchase but in the future I might try an oleophobic tempered glass one.

Currently iSmooth screen protector is one of the best screen protectors. Here is the link :
I cannot post a link: Go to amazon.com and search (ismooth nexus 5)

I'm rocking a best skins ever wet application protector at the moment. Its easy to fit (being wet app you can reposition after applying before it dries) and has a nice feel. Its also fits perfectly to the screen edges.
Been meaning to do a little review but not got around to doing one yet.

Loving the spigen that came with my slim case. I had it for almost 3 weeks already and only has one scratch. Very anti-scratch. I liked them so much, I ordered some for my wife s4 and no scratches at all.

The xtreme guard I used on my Nexus 5 works fine with the Acase & Diztronic.cases I have used.
That being said, the one I had on my 4 sucked.

This is the best screen protector iv ever had

I have the TechMatte amFilm Nexus 5 screen protectors. They come in a 3-pack and include everything you need. They are a dry-application screen protector. The screen protectors have three cutouts along the top for the camera/light sensor/proximity sensor, but the cutouts are NOT along the edge of the screen, as suggested by some illustrations on the packaging. The 3 cutouts are neat and precisely in the location of the aforementioned sensors.
The actual application time took around 2 minutes, 15 seconds. I got it right the first time. After initial application, the 4 bubbles took seconds to smooth out. To minimize dust particles being trapped under the screen protector during installation, TechMatte suggests applying the screen protector in a bathroom after taking a shower. I can understand why, as I ended up with two small particles of dust which settled in the nanoseconds that the Nexus 5 screen was exposed to the air in my kitchen. This is no fault of amFilm though. The screen protector looks great and was a breeze to apply.
5/5 so far for the Techmatte amFilm Nexus 5 screen protectors!

The free one that came with my Spigen Ultra Hybrid has done the job just fine so far.

Agreed; the Spigen ones work great as well.

The new Mime Feather is awesome , just installed it today couldn't be more satisfied

I bought the spigen ultra crystal from amazon.. And IMO the best

Try the Mediadevil Invisible Screen Protector, I used them on both Galaxy Nexus and Note 3 and there were amazing.

from this thread it really seems that there isn't a best choice but maybe that there are several good products.
Someone cheaper someone more expensive.
I'm choosing my first one and I don't know what is the best considering price/quality.

SGP Ultra NANO clear screen protector review.

Hi guys !
I received the shipment today and did a little review for you.
I'll start with the fact that I don't like any screen protectors, and any phone cases.
But sometimes these things are necessary for us. (example: while on beach, I always scratched all my phones)
I also got very intrigued by the word "NANO"
In the package you will find:
- 3 screen protectors. (Thank you for that SGP)
- cloth (to clear the screen)
- 4 stickers, for dust removal . (by the way it helped me)
- plastic scoop (to align the surface)
- serial number (to verify the authenticity of the product)
- spam

What I liked:
-easy to install.
-almost not visible on phone. (which is true guys)
-does not interfere with the reflection (important for me)
-0% distortion of the quality of the screen
-good protection.
What don't liked
- Feeling that Protector will come off from the edges very soon.
May be due to the fact that I improperly installed in the middle of the screen (I confirm that the film was based on the screen incorrectly, I redid the work, everything is perfect now !!!!!
- easy to put fingerprints (My niece helped me to verify this)
You will tell me what about protection from scratches?
No problem let me show you something
- film is easily deforming(will be seen even a trace of nail hands)
I'm not talking about real scratches as these
honestly say I was scared that scratched own phone , But after removing the film, I realized the fact that SGP Ultra NANO clear protector not only doesn't spoil the image quality (which is completely perfect), but also provides good protection.
Best Regards.
AvetNY.
Thanks purchased this today, cant wait to get it now
As long as protection and screen image quality is solid, then I'm in

They just updated their page with a new screen protector for the Galaxy S 3 the ultra nano optics anti-fingerprint version.
Nice review! It's pretty shocking when you had a knife next to the phone.. :good::good: I was thinking getting wet screen protector or whole shield, but it looks very attractive.

I am just a little bit sceptical, they reduced the size of it to prevent having bubles on the edges due to the curved glass on the s3, I have a similar screen priotector and the smaller size does get on my nerves as it tends to get lifted up and makes you notice the uneven edge on the face of the phone.
I think ill go for the other version with the full covering
I just got the order today and I'm worried about protection. This screen protector is extremely thin... almost like cellophane you find on cigarette packs. I ran a knife against it and blade went through easily. I wish they could have kept the thickness same as ultra crystal. I kind of prefer ultra crystal film even though edges were bubbling up a little. It wasn't very noticeable to me at least. I always been a huge fan of SGP but Galaxy S3 screen protector are huge disappointment, including flex hd (rainbow effects that won't go away).
I so want glas.t for S3

No. Absolutely not
when you talk about the screen easily deforming, do you mean if i take my finger nail and rub it across that it'll make permanent marks on the protector?
thanks for the review, very nice job

I liked how conveniently the instructions were on the packaging. It puts them right in front of you so you remember to read them.
Very basic kit, you get your quick how-to card, business card, cleaning cloth, screen protector and a squeegee. This is my new favorite squeegee.
Samsung Galaxy S III Screen Protector Features:
• Toughest clear protective film in the market
• Clear protection that is virtually invisible
• Preserves your Samsung Galaxy S III's original design
• Protects your Samsung Galaxy S III from scratches, dents, and physical wear-and-tear
• Patented layer of UV protection for anti-yellowing
• Provides protection without affecting the functions of your Samsung Galaxy S III
• Non-sticky or restrictive outer surface
We're always on the hunt for the perfect screen protector. I must say Skinomi is ranked at the top of my list. It's not as soft as other wet applications. Minimal orange peel unlike the more expensive screen protectors. I feel more comfortable handing my phone to a child.
It covers most of the screen and has the proper cut outs for the sensors and camera. The home button is cut out and not just cut straight down.
The battery cover protectors were also a nice touch. I was glad to discover Skinomi uses high quality 3M products. Not a knock off brand like other competitors use to save some money. I haven't put one on yet due to my OCD. I just want to take my time. One of these will be up for the next giveaway!
MSRP of the Skinomi TechSkin is $11.95 and can be purchased for $9.95 from Amazon. The Skin Protectors come in 7 different styles. MSRP: $19.95 on the Skinomi Website. They can be found on Amazon for $18.94 shipped.
Customer Service response time was excellent and above average.
I purchased a skinomi front screen protector for my s3, and although application was really easy and its all aligned fine
Whenever a mark is made on the screen protector (Lightly press your fingernail into it) the mark stays, might just be because i only put it on 24 hours ago, so i will leave it a few days and see.

I ordered one back when they were $1 on Amazon and used it for about a month and a half. The marks stay for a long time. I made one diagonally about a week after I got it, and it was still there a month later when I changed to the curved crystal protector. I couldn't stand the divots and lines left behind from my fingernails.

I bought 2 when they recently had the $5.99 promotion. They fit great under my Otterbox Commuter, but the marks and depressions left behind on the screen is annoying.

I switched over from the Xtreme Guards. They are much more gummier than the Skinomi. The Skinomi has a harder surface than the Xtreme Guards.
Don't all wet protection screen guards do that? So far every review for a wet application one I read has people complaining about the indents. I would try one of these out myself but with the Glas coming out this week, no point in doing it

I swear by ZAGG. If you watch the demo video then it should sell you too. Yes its a little more expensive than the 3 dollar scotch tape cover you can get at the grocery store, but you spent a lot of money on the phone with its sharp screen, I figure its worth it. I had the ZAGG cover on my Thunderbolt and it worked great. I liked it so much I have one on my GS3.
DBA Cases sells a screen protector called "Just Like Glass". I just bought one for me and my mom. I must say the feel is great, almost "like glass" and the screen doesn't diminish in quality one bit. It is a wet application. The sides on mine don't want to stick down all the way. The instructions said this would happen and after a few days it will stick. I've only had it applied a couple days so I'm still crossing my fingers. They are only $13.50. I would definitely recommend one. http://www.dbacases.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-screen-protectors.aspx
I highly suggest glasszone. No proximity problems, no response problems. 9H hardness, I've dropped it twice from waist height on concrete floor and it's not scratched, though I'm not 100% if the initial impact was with ground. The only thing I have against it is the (barely) visible layer of glitter on the edges, or what the manufacturer calls "pearl effect". I barely notice it, and it's only really visible under a few instances. You can find it on ebay
iMuse glass protector could be a good solution:

Yes it definitely disturbs. That's why the sticker type protector is somehow a better choice, but if you have a sturdy case protector to begin with you don't need a screen protector, that gorilla glass will serve it purposes.

I ordered mine from Bestskinsever. Quality is like Zagg Invisible Shield for about 1/4 of the price.
I don't like the Zagg ones, its very clear when you're using them that you have a screen protector on. I have the DBA Just Like Glass mentioned above. I like it for the most part. The screen protector has gotten very scratched up but the screen is safe and sound. Worst bit about it is that the edges dont look properly adhered. SPIGEN SGP Samsung Galaxy S3 Premium Glass Screen Protector White
Glass looks and feels great.
HOWEVER
Must be used with a raised home button and case on the edges.
Sensitivity was severely compromised.
You wouldn't notice on regular use, but as soon as you got typing. I became very frustrated. Ruined texting all together.
Even swype was some garbage.
40$ well wasted.

Compatibility: Specifically designed for Google Nexus 7 FHD 2nd Generation/2013
Designed specifically for a fast, easy, 100% bubble-free application and made of the ultimate, high-quality invisible film
Protect screen from daily scratches, dust, scrapes, and normal signs of wear
Attaches quickly and smoothly with self-adhering surface, leaves no residue when removed
Includes: 1xBye-Bye Bubble Ultimate Screen Protectors, Micro-Fiber Cleaning Cloth, Squeeze card
Being the cheapskate I am, I was using a 1st gen Nexus 7 screen protector cut to fit the new Nexus 7. It's safe to say the amFILM screen protector was a step up.
First it's worth mentioning the screen protector was in a good stiff cardboard holder. Protects it from bends during shipping. It's good to see this as a lot of cheaper screen protectors are just sent in an envelope from ebay.
It comes with quite a bit of nice accessories. The microfiber is good in size and quality. It's better than the small cheap ones thats usually included. It also comes with a squeegee and lint remover/hinge stickers. The lint remover/hinge stickers are meant for any dust you can see on the screen before applying or used as a hinge for applying the film.
Also for the noobies to applying screen protectors, it has step by step directions for best results. The have instructions for 2 methods. Hinge method (what the stickers are for) and regular method.
There is a single cutout for the light sensor and camera. It's a perfect fit on the screen, good feel, no loss in touch sensitivity of the tablet, no rainbow effects and not to sticky when swiping your finger across it. Super Clear and can barely tell there is a protector on it.
Overall I'm very happy with it. Great customer service and lifetime warranty! Whats not to like?

This protector is fairly large so there isn't a huge margi. Of error when applying. However they have a 30 day money back guarantee and are willing to send you more protectors if you have trouble.

Thanks for the review. I've had the amfilm SP on for about a week and I seem to be experiencing a bit of touch response interference. It seems to get worse when there are a lot of smudges on the screen. Luckily that only happens... All the time because the trade off with this SPs great clarify is its penchant for fingerprints.
Anyone else having touch response problems? I'm close to removing the sp altogether to see if the responsiveness returns or if there's a deeper delay issue with hardware. My guess is the SP is at fault.
That said, it installed easy, has great clarity, and was at a great price point. Hard to beat 2 for $7... amazon prime helps, too.
Yup, awesome products at a GREAT price!! I used nothing but Ghost Armor for years. After trying TechMatte though, that's all I'm buying from here on out. I've got their screen protectors on my N7 FHD and Note 3. I also use their Qi Receiver in my Note 3, as well as their car mount. All excellent products!

In the past I've gone for Spigen. Although a little pricier, I like to think I'm paying for the packaging, quality assurance, and simply the quality of the product itself. I tend to be pretty prone to cracking my screens so I go for the glass ones which actually have protected my screen 3+ times since I've started buying them. I say it's cheaper and easier than replacing a whole screen itself and it doesn't really affect usability. I also like how on the Spigen, the sides aren't sharp and moreso curved or whatever.
Only thing is I have heard people complain about it chipping on the side but I'm pretty rough with my phone and I have yet to have that happen for myself. Only cracks due to....being dropped and etc.
I’ve used Orzly and saved my phone. It’s a very good product

Nillkin Tempered 9h FTW. They're cheap. They're awesome.

Only used Orzly on this and my moto g. Did replace the moto g after about 6 months as it got a light crack and scratches but otherwise if applied properly it's hard to notice it's on there.
Also I find it smoother than the original screen so it's better for swiping, has anyone else noticed that?
I saw one Orzly review on youtube and noticed a scratch, so I ordered the Ultimate Shield. These two are my favs, but that scratch made me switch to Ultimate Shield.
I also use the Ultimate sheild, really easy to fit and a great fit as well, still looking perfect a month later.
Spartan shield from XtremeGuardz,works perfectly
I'm using UltimateShield for my OPO. its barely to notice and it feels even better than the original screen.

Got a tempered glass from aliexpress. It's not a big brand but feels ok. Oleo phobic coat, nice cut and easy (ish) to apply.

Nillkin FTW!
Nillkin Tempered +1 The best and cheaper.
I have a Nillkin tempered glass screen protector and I love it. It's one of the cheapest also (I bought it for $10, it's $7 now I think), less than half than Orzly's. The "consensus" that Orzly protectors are superior stem from one guy on Reddit who said it was the best one out there and that got repeated a bunch of times until it was accepted as fact. I don't think many people have actually compared several brands.
