So I officially got the OTA and I managed to extract it from the cache folder and install it manually using TWRP. But when I try to install, while checking the system files (nearly to the end) it shows up something like this. See photo. Something with the keyboard has unexpected content.

Edit: I was going to update 4.3 to 4.4. My device is stock and rooted. Nothing more.

Try flashing the stock recovery then run the update normally through "check for updates."

Somehow your latin input method editor library got changed. Either inadvertently by something you installed or it got corrupted.
Switching to stock recovery won't make any difference.
If you can find someone to get you the stock file, that might get you further down the road.
Alternatively flash the factory image with the nowipe option or flash scrosler's twrp/cwm flashable krt16s
THX for the replies! So anyone want to share the original Latin input method with me???

Ok I managed to restore my Nandroid Backup of the stock 4.3 (restore system only) and I fixed it and could update!

I have resisted updating my rooted Nexus 7 running stock 4.3 (JSS15R) to kitkat but am now ready to do so.
I know to do a nandroid backup (is doing it via rom toolbox good enough? ) and a fresh tibu backup.
But I have some last minute questions.
1. should I just accept the ota update or as recommended elsewhere should I use the file from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380113
2. will the update make me lose root? Can that be prevented? (I always have trouble getting the correct drivers to access the Nexus)
3. any other precautions?
Finally : to prevent accidental update before I was ready, I had renamed the system update file when it first downloaded. Now I don't remember where I found it and system will not re-download it with a message that verification failed.

Its a nexus device, even if you lose root, it takes like 3 seconds to root it again.. I want to say doing the ota when I first got my nexus 7 did not result in losing root, but I might be incorrect on that one..

I know that is true for most people, but it always takes me a couple of days to get the right drivers working for my windows 7 laptop to communicate properly with the Nexus. Then, once adb and fastboot can access the device, you are correct and the rooting is a breeze. That is why I cringe at having to go through that again.
The drivers are simple.. Just Google "nexus adb drivers" and download them from Google directly. Once you have them downloaded go into device manager, find your nexus, right click it, and select update driver. Choose the have disk option and navigate to the nexus drivers. Should be all set after that. I'll research where the update is stored on your device and reply in a minute.
EDIT: All updates should be downloaded to your /cache partition.

Where would I find the ota update file? Maybe I can install it directly.

If memory serves, when I looked for it before, it was in a "fota" directory under /cache. Look for a zip file.
I don't believe you can install it directly, nor would I want to try anyway.
Once you find it, delete it and then redownload it

for me it works perfect for several 4.4.2 Roms. I never try it for the new official Sammy 4.4.2, only for the CM11 and 2 other ROms availiable here on XDA and also for the original Sammy 4.2 I had when I got the phone. I can backup and recover all those roms. From what I read the new official 4.4.2 has a different structure so maybe thats why CWM fail with it. But for sure it works for 4.4.2, maybe just not for that original Version!?

i did ) few times..less more- i asked to Phil, team win and lot of people
No my buildbox is still dead , but i am using my personal pc to build this , anyway , all of the issues in the recovery are happening due to mr sammy not releasing new kernel source , i asked them multiple times but no answer till now , people collabrate with me and go to samsung orc center found here and file a request for source code and make a big request for our bevolved active :good:
So I recently got a notification about the Android 4.4.3 update and of course I am rooted. I got TWRP recovery and I am ready to flaah the OTA .zip file.
Now my problem is that somehow my LatinIMEGoogle.apk is corrupted, but only the stock version (the one that can with the AOSP ROM). Now I am using the updated version from the Play Store and that's why I can write this message now. This problem prevents me from updating the Firmware of course. Now the only thing I need to do is to restore the system partition through recovery. I could find a Nandroid backup from the past but it somehow also already contains the broken LatinIMEGoogle.apk file so restoring didn't help. Now I am here to ask kindly if somebody mind sharing a Nandroid of the Android 4.4.2 system partition to let me restore via my recovery. I tried to search in XDA but somehow nobody has such kind of solution. (They always refer to the factory image from Google website) which I don't want! Because to set up my device from scratch takes a loooooot of time. Down below I have attached a photo of the flash failure so you know what I mean.

Hey, well I have more of an alternative though here, you can try to flash this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2771012
Its the stock 4.4.3 rom and I doubt you would have problems getting OTA after. If you're up to flash it, just be sure to back up beforehand.
Hope it helps.

You can just use the factory image from Google. You do not have to flash all the partitions; you can pick and choose.
First extract the system.img file from the factory image archive, then push it using
Code:
fastboot flash system C:\path\to\system.img

It won't wipe it because you're only flashing the system partition of the device, worst thing that could happen is a bunch of FC's upon booting it. (which is unlikely but we never know)
Also @ChiDi9901 be sure you choose the odex version if you want to not have problems while getting some newer OTA. The stock roms are always odexed, just saying.. XD

If you have ODEXED system do all steps, if you have DEODEXED just flash zip.
1. Rename /system/priv-app/Settings/Settings.apk to Settings.apk.bak
2. Rename /system/priv-app/Settings/arm to arm.bak
3. Copy DEODEXED Settings.apk (or any deodexed Settings.apk, especially on devices <=Z1 won't work version in my post) to /system/priv-app/Settings/
4. Change permissions for Settings.apk to rw-r--r-- (chmod 0644)
5. Flash zip in recovery

I think that it is compatible with 5.1.1, only thing you have to do is try it to flash with odexed settings.apk. When nothing changes, try an deodexed settings.apk for example from Pandemic MoonWalker rom and then flash zip again.

I made a oranje , blue and red theme. So flash either one of them. If you want the themes as they are you need to dirty flash the rom and then the other coloured theme.
That's about it.
Yes I Know but i haven't enough storage for the complete.
Thats why i ask for the script apk only.

You flash the theme you like, when you want to change the themes you have to dirty flash the rom to get back to stock and then flash the other desired colour.
If you haven't got enough storage space then clean it up a bit.
